Cool Car Tip On AC Most all vehicles have a recirculation button with the AC controls in their cars. But many of us are unsure when to use it. Well, the easy answer is to use it in the summer and turn it off in the winter. The recirculation button simply takes the air from inside the car and recirculates it in the cabin instead of pulling fresh air from outside. On days like today when it is miserably hot outside, if you do not recirculate the cooler air in the cabin, than your AC system is pulling hot air from outside and trying to cool it. Using the recirculation feature will get your car cooler and will decrease the wear and tear on your AC system. - Side note, if your car has been baking in the sun, its better to roll the windows down and turn recirculate off for the rst minute or so to get rid of the super hot air inside the car before turning the recirculate on. Also, any time you are stuck in traf c ( summer or winter) be sure to use the recirculate. If you are pulling air from outside, then you are pulling in all the pollutants and carbon monoxide from all the traf c. Studies show that recirculating your AC can cut down on the pollutants entering your vehicle by 20% when stuck in traf c!

Most of you know Jenna Lee Bruscino has been battling breast cancer. She is one of our own here in Liberty, a mom to 2 young boys, wife to a devoted re ghter and a beautiful young woman who has been faced with a battle that no one should have to go through. Having cancer is, has always been and will always be a very scary thing to go through but having to do it during a pandemic adds lots of extra stress to cancer patients. Working at the cancer center I see it, I hear it. You have to come alone to your treatments. Sometimes that means sitting all day long, alone and scared. It means being afraid of getting sick and doing everything you can to prevent it because you don’t know what Covid would do to your body while it’s also trying to ght cancer. Aside from the pandemic, Having to help your kids understand why mommy is losing her hair, could you imagine? Worrying about where the money will come from for your next treatment and how long it’s going to take to pay for everything when only one person in the household can work. There is so much more I could list. When someone has cancer they go through more than most people could imagine. We have a chance to come together as a community and help this family! fi

From our Pastor . . June 202 Thank you all for continuing to be a blessing to the church. We are slowly moving back inside and starting more activities. God has blessed us and we should take a moment to give Him praise and thanks for the blessings We are wrapping up the sermon series on the Beatitudes and will begin to look at the rest of the Sermon on the Mount soon. As we nish the Beatitudes, I ask that you go back and read each one and think about how God wants to move in your life and change you from the inside out. To help I’ve put a prayer below that will guide you through praying the Beatitudes in your life. I hope that you will begin praying this prayer each day and see how God works in and changes your life Matthew 5:3-10 (NIV 3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven 4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted 5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be lled 7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven Beatitudes Praye Father, show me my sins so that I may come before you as a beggar, poor in spirit, and without help except for you. As you show me my sins, help me to mourn over them, repent, and seek forgiveness for them. Help me to be meek and serve you and not the world. Help me to have a humble attitude and remove my pride. Never thought about this before I have always thought that Noah was safe inside the Ark because he built it according to God's speci cations. I thought that perhaps it was the strength of the gopher wood and the soundness of the architecture that ensured that the waters of the ood would not come into the Ark But today I encountered a verse that shifted this whole paradigm Let's read what Gen 7:16 says .." The animals going in were male and female of every living thing as God had commanded Noah. THEN GOD SHUT HIM IN... Don't miss this.... even after Noah had built the Ark, it was God Himself who shut him in, in order to shut out the waters of the ood... In other translations this verse says "The Lord sealed them inside. May the Almighty God seal us inside His Ark of protection through this last 7 months of 2021 It is not the fact that you have locked your house that keeps you safe at night, it is not your good driving skills that keeps you safe on the road, neither it's your healthy eating habits that keeps you healthy - only God can shut you in and shut out the devil that is seeking to devour you Father we pray that in this last 7 months of 2021 as we walk into the streets and as we drive on the roads, Oh God shut us in. Father we pray for our children that in the midst of dangers and molesters... You will shut them in, keep out the ood waters of abuse, rape, murder, accidents, diseases and untimely death... Oh God shut us in, shut us in your Ark of protection , into your Ark of compassion. May GOD SHUT US IN AS WE OBEY HIM AND TRUST IN HIS WORD. Amen!

Ole Hickory Smokehous Our Country has changed it's course. Small business
owners are struggling like never before. Not to stay a oat from a lack of great customers but at the hands of a government making it possible for everyday people to not need to work. Middle Class Americans are the strong point of our country. Blue-collar workers are what keeps America moving ahead, keeps prices stable and maintains the ow of products and goods we all use daily both at home and in our small businesses. Unfortunately, our community business windows and billboards that were plastered with daily specials have been replace with HELP WANTED signs. Our economy seems to be stable because of the in ux of government assistance yet government assistance has provided most middle class Americans with a replacement check that no longer requires a 40 hour commitment. Payroll Protection Loans and Grants have made it possible for struggling business to stay open but at what expense? There's limited employees available to operate those businesses and the loans and grants are speci cally designed to cover mostly payroll which is the one thing most businesses are struggling to ll. Ole Hickory Smokehouse began construction Pre-Covid19 and was consumed by Covid19 in March 2020 and was not able to open until July 1, 2020. We operated with our own personal funding and Ole Hickory has yet been able to qualify for any PPP or Government Grants. Our staff has been working endless hours to maintain the integrity of our expected service. We pride ourself on providing a unique version of a popular American product in the Smoked Meats and BBQ world and with protein (meat) prices nearly doubling in cost over the last 30 days, we have dreaded the possibility that we may have to raise our prices just to break even. We have managed to spread the pro ts and losses out over 5 days a week just to maintain our place in a small town atmosphere but with the lack of employees and rising food cost, we must trim the days that are losses and focus on the days that allow us to continue providing those unique products and the exceptional service you have all come to expect. Most people go to their doctor for an annual physical examination. That usually entails going a week in advance to get blood drawn for their lab work. Then, at the actual visit to the doctor, the results are shared. Usually your Doctor, their Nurse Practitioner or perhaps the Physician’s Assistant will explain to you that everything is ne. Or they may say that you will need to watch your diet for too much sugar or fat. You are relieved and happy to hear that you won’t need medication; then the visit continues with your blood pressure check, questions or exam. But our interest today is on your Lab Work and the valuable information that it contains. What does it mean when they say, “Everything is ne”? Well it can mean that the ranges of the items for which you have been tested are in the expected range for your gender and age group. But what do you really know? Are you aware that nearly every system in your body is tested in the Blood Chemistry and CBC test? It is the most common annual test. The letters CBC stand for Complete Blood Count, which looks at each type of cell for size, shape, number and viability. Every single number for every single test means something important about your health What does ‘range’ mean? It means that if your numbers fall between the high and low number in the range, then you are considered ok. If your numbers are higher or lower, then it needs to be known why that would be happening. But let’s look at it this way…someone once told me to imagine that you have left your dog with a sitter. Your instructions to the sitter were this, “the dog can go anywhere it wants to go from your house to the edge of the road, but no further”. So you call about your dog. The sitter says, “oh, it’s ne, it is between the house and the road”. Would you say, “oh the dog is ne”? You do not know if it is sitting on the porch or if it has one paw raised over the pavement. And so it is with your Lab Work, you do not know if you are at the lower end/higher end; one of which may be getting very close to ‘not good’. You may have a chance to nip something in the bud, if you knew that you were getting into trouble. You would have time to turn something around, before it was much more dif cult to do so. Let’s look at the Blood Serum Glucose Test, the level of ‘sugar’ in the blood. Conventional Range is 65-115 mg/dl. If you knew your number, you would know exactly where you stood, between these numbers (on the porch at perhaps 69 or at the street with perhaps 114!). There are many reasons for your numbers to be wherever they are, but if you knew to ask or to look it up online to help yourself, it would be a great start There are liver markers, kidney markers, and tests for protein and iron and minerals and vitamins. You could really have a handle on your health if you knew these things about yourself. Another tool, available to you, would be to compare your numbers, year to year. Once I was looking over my father’s lab work, while he was in the rehab center. I noticed that the kidney function numbers had decreased by several points, in just a few weeks! Yikes! When it was pointed out to the doctor, it was resolved that there was an incorrect number listed on one of the results. Whew! But that is what I mean. What if you noticed that your kidney function was changing years before any red ag would go up on the lab work ranges? You could then take steps to stop the slow slide toward a worse outcome. Yes, this is very important for us all. What if you noticed something about any of your body systems, while there was time to correct it? ALWAYS keep the copy of your lab work. Look up what each thing means online. It is all available online. Then you can have the tests to compare year to year. You may nd that some of the terms sound complicated or foreign. At least you will be able to see if there are any questions you would like to call to ask the nurse or doctor. There are other reasons that our doctors do not explain these lab results. They, of course, are short on time. But many of these tests are only red ags when compared to each other. If you are high on one thing and low on another, that means one issue. If you are vice versa on those same items, it will mean some other issue is at hand. So, you can see how long it could take to sort it all out. But, at least you may be able to see your numbers and know exactly where you stand, instead of just learning that things are ‘ ne’. How ne and how not ne you actually are, will show in YOUR speci c test numbers. Good luck in nding whether you are on the porch, safely in the middle of the yard, or nearly in the traf c! Get to know the signi cant natural and historical features found in the heart of North Carolina by exploring the Deep River State Trail. It was designated as an of cial State Trail in 2007 by the NC General Assembly as both a hiking and paddle trail. When Randolph County announced that they would not allow the schools to have prom I immediately messaged Krystle Turner and told her the situation and asked if she had any available dates to host the prom there and what the fees would be. She came back with May 8 and that we could have it at The Roost for free! So Lisa Grif th and I got together with a couple of moms and planned the prom. We sold tickets for $20 and sold almost 200 and that have us enough money to pay for a DJ, a photo booth, decorations, and some of the food. Parents donated drinks and food also. Krystle Turner and Amber Hardin did all the decorating and owers. The theme was Golden Gala and the senior class voted on that. — Nicole Collins
