I’m so proud to call this man my pawpaw. Our community is so blessed to have him, he does so much for our little town, helping in anything and everything in Liberty. The Legion Hut would not be standing and functioning without Cary McMasters. Last night he was honored as a hometown hero ! And of course granny has a big part in helping him be able to make things happen! This was an honor to them both - by Morgan McMasters.

Tom Madigan 3D Printing
About 4 years ago, Tom Madigan got a 3D printed Star Wars helmet from his wife, Marilyn, for Christmas. Knowing he was a fan of the franchise since it began in the 70's, she thought it was a great idea! Little did she know it would help launch the a small business now called TMad 3D. Tom looked into purchasing a 3d printer and wanted to make his own helmets and more. So he bought a Creality Ender 5 Pro and learned a lot from that small but mighty printer. Fast forward 2 years, he bought a Bambu Lab P1S 3D printer and learned how to create light boxes. Light boxes are basically a lit up logo or picture, printed and lit up with a strip of LED lights. They became so popular with coworkers, that Tom ended up buying a second printer to keep up with the demand. Some of his light boxes can be seen at Llamazing Brew, Liberty Grounds, Kackalax, and Bull City Ciderworks in Greensboro and Durham and DeDona Tint and Sound! Since then, the latest craze has been hype chains that you see on TV at football games, baseball games, college games...basically anywhere there are fanatics of a specific
Although Tom is busy with his side business, he also works full time for Procter and Gamble, has an amazing wife, and is the dad to an awesome daughter who is more busy than he is! But it's all good, Tom wouldn't trade it for the world. He's super thankful for everyone that has supported him, backed him, trusted him with making custom gifts for Christmas, birthdays, holidays, etc. You can find Tom on Facebook and Instagram and at local craft and vendor shows in the area.

The Grove ( PGHS Column)
Charlie Deaton is a new and very appreciated teacher and coach at Providence Grove High School, but for me he has been one of the main factors in my success as a softball player. Without Coach Deaton I wouldn't be the hitter, fielder, and leader on the field I am today. I'm not the only kid Mr. Deaton has made an impression on. At PG we are lucky enough to have Mr. Deaton as our masonry teacher, something he himself never knew he would love as much as he does. Everything Mr. Deaton does in his day-to-day teaching contributes to the betterment of our school. He puts his entire heart into each and every thing he does and is determined to do those things 110 percent. As the masonry teacher at PGHS, Coach Deaton took it upon himself to teach his students real life situations, so he decided to create a masonry club in order to build both the PG softball and baseball teams new brick backstops, along with a new entryway leading to the fields. He did this simply because he believed it would benefit not only PG’s athletics but the students as well. Coach Deaton has been in masonry and brick laying for over 40 years; he started laying brick around the same age of his students. Along with that, he has been a coach. Coach Deaton has been coaching softball for well over 20 years with his partner in crime Donna Deaton. PG softball was lucky to have him last year as our hitting coach, helping us as a consecutive team hitting with over a 300 batting average. Anything Mr. Deaton is a part of he helps make those things successful, whether that be athletics, academics, or just the overall wellbeing of our school. No matter the day, Coach Deaton always has a kind word, a helping hand, or a drink if you're thirsty. So as a community, I think I can speak for everyone when saying, “Thank you, Mr. Deaton, for being you, and deciding that PG is the school you choose to give your all too.”
