Bits’n’Pieces Presents

THE STRANGEST SECRET There have been many, many people across all time as we know it who have tried to figure out just what LIFE is and how ‘it’ works. ‘IT’ is the secret. ‘It’ is what causes things to be as they are. What is ‘it’ that makes one person have a ‘better’ life and another ‘not satisfied’ with life? What is it that causes life to ‘not be fair’ according to some? This man and many before him set out to find exactly that. Who is he and what did he find? His name is Earl Nightingale. Some of you will remember him as a lunchtime radio voice, which graced the airwaves, in the 1970’s, with what he was finding to be true about human character, motivation and meaningful existence. It all started with a recording that he made in 1956, called The Strangest Secret, which sold more than a million copies. It is still considered one of the greatest motivational talks of all time and is available on YouTube, in Earl’s own voice. He was also a Marine on the USS Arizona, surviving the attack on Pearl Harbor with 14 other marines. He discovered this secret at age 29, reading as a pre-teen, searching and studying. He realized that the secret had been in the New Testament, in writings of the Buddha, in studies of Lao Tzu, works of Emerson and others. Six tiny words that said everything. WE BECOME WHAT WE THINK ABOUT. It is our thinker, our mind, that is the gift of human consciousness. We all know people of differing, economic, educational, physical fitness status and more. What is it about each person that you know that makes them what they are and how they are in their circumstances? If you are around them, and know how they think, listen to their words and watch their actions, then you must agree that what they think about is exactly what they have become. It is reflected in the lives that they are living, where they live and how they live. For some reason, it seems easier to see it in others than in ourselves. There can be two things that get in the way of the progress. Firstly, people just don’t think. Most people just go along doing what other people do and just being what other people are being, without any thought about the matter. That is called conformity. In that case it seems that fate, or some other outside circumstance affects life, and that they are just victims. Secondly, people think life ‘just isn’t fair’, even with their hard work. Again, they feel like victims of something beyond their control, but what about that feeling deep inside that eats away at peacefulness? What about those old voices of our parents or other people re-playing in our thoughts that tell us, “You’ll never amount to anything” or “You best not get above your raising” or “That can happen for other people, but not for you”. Whether you know it or not, those deep-felt emotions can ruin your best efforts at taking control of your life. Being conscious of those feelings will be the first step in realizing that you can choose, against those words, to become who you are. YOU make you who you are by knowing your worth and claiming your place in the world, right there beside whomever your highest example is of how you see yourself. A successful life is one where you do exactly what you enjoy doing the most and that which you are really good at. You deliberately do what you decide to do and do it deliberately, as Nightingale says on his runaway successful recording. He speaks of land that is planted and how the land does not care what is planted on it. The land enjoys growing things. It will grow food or poison ivy, whichever is planted. That is exactly how your mind is, he says. It loves to grow ideas and will grow whatever is planted; it does not care what it is. You can plant ideas of exactly what you want to see come into your life…and water those ideas with thoughts and fertilizer of the best attitude, grateful that it is coming into your life. Your mind will return to you, health, wealth, and anything else that you wish for yourself, if you water those thoughts with continued joy. We are the sum total of our thoughts. Look around yourself to see if you are pleased with what you have been thinking about. And if so, keep up the good work, if not, then know, now, what the problem is and move forward into your new life. If you plant that seed into your mind, water and care for it, there is no way that it cannot come into your life, any more than a seed planted on the land can be something other than you put there. Nightingale says; carry a card in your pocket for 30 days. On one side, write a goal, specific and simply written. On the other side write, “Ask and it shall be given you”, “Seek and you shall find”, “Knock and it shall be opened unto you”. Carry your card, look at it often, know that it is impossible to fail, and act on that. If negative thoughts/voices enter your mind, replace them immediately by ‘feeling’ your goal. Imagine what you have lovingly and joyfully decided your life to be. Stay with your commitment for 30 days and reap the rewards, “you will reap what you sow”. Your life will become whatever you planted in your mind. When you find yourself thinking your many thousands of thoughts per day, try to catch them and check yours against the thoughts of most people. It is said that 80% of thoughts are negative, and that 95% of thoughts are repetitive, going round and round, over and over. Please, You can be the one who does not fit in these slots. Please, become the one who now is in charge of your own thoughts, AND in charge of your own life. Remember, YOU BECOME WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT, and use this to become your best and highest Self! Offer that Self, in joy, to whatever it is you most love to do in life, and watch your life become the expression of your highest Self, bringing abundance to you in all ways! Bit’n’Pieces wishes for you health and safety as we ‘hold hands’ in our hearts with all our neighbors in thoughts of Love. We need each other. Reach us at bitsnpiecesliberty@gmail.com
