Small Town Life Has Big Things
Liberty Family Fallfest We Need You
Was not sure how to start this out, but I have heard so many people share from all the small towns around there is nothing to do, their is not where to eat , there is no where to shop. Well I just would like everyone to stop and look. From Liberty To Ramseur there is numerous events happening in the next two months. There is numerous places to eat , some existing and several new. As far as shopping, yes we do not have the malls and large stores, but we have great business that can normally call you by name and always has a smile to see you visit them. I want to challenge you to make a point to see what you can do to make an impact in your community. So why not save some gas and time and stay local. Local shopping and dinning keeps your money local. So I challenge you to start a grassroot movement in your hometown. Think Local First - Step Inside - In business that are in your communities, where we live, we go to school and play. So Eat Local So Drink Local So Shop Local So Live Local So I Hope To See You Local .
The visions behind this fall event came from comments from several locals at the Liberty July Celebration, where the people said they wish we had more of these events that give a good home town feeling. Well we are planning one for Sat Oct 29. There will be free music by Royal Harmonizers. If you would like to sing let us know. Several groups are offering free food. If you would like to help give a little refreshments, let us know. We will have hay rides, old fashion games and more. If you would like to have a little booth or offer something, let us know. There will be a free movie in Liberty Showcase, thanks to Liberty Showcase and Liberty Advisors. We will also have a motorcycle show. All this on Fayetteville Street. On Main Street (Swannanoa Ave) several local craft and art vendors will be setting up. Lets make this a great event. We are open to suggestions. Lets make this another awesome small town family gathering. Wangari Maathai said one, “It is the the little things that citizens do that will make the difference. You can see more on page 2. Thank You Jesus Signs Covering Yards In The Area New Life Ministry and also Jim Parker of Liberty Oil wanted to give locals access to pick up your signs locally. Jim has been making trips to Asheboro to pick up signs for weeks an has them on sell at his place of business. Also New Life Ministry has been ordering in bulk signs that you can pick up at Awesome Finds & Gifts in downtown Liberty during operating hours. The signs are $8 a piece. So do you know how this encouraging sign came about?Lucas Hunt, a teenager active at Hopewell Friends Church, has had a heart for putting up yard signs in his neighborhood during Christmas, reminding people that "Jesus Is The Reason for the Season". His plan was to put out signs again at Easter.Around the same time another member at Hopewell, Connie Frazier, without knowing about Lucas's plan, got the idea to do an Easter yard sign that said "Thank You Jesus". It's funny how God coordinates His work. Our church, Hopewell Friends in Asheboro, will be putting up these signs in our yards as a witness to our gratefulness for Jesus's saving grace. We would love for your church to join with us! Wouldn't it be wonderful to cover the land with the words "Thank You Jesus"?Thank you for purchasing a sign to show God how much you appreciate His son, Jesus.

Liberty Rotary Going Strong
As you can see from the pictures and read in the story below, the Liberty Rotary Club is hard at making Liberty better by investing in it. It is also open for new members. They meet every Thursday at 6:30pm at Beaver Creek BBQ in Liberty for a short meeting, which is a special program that is short and sweet, then followed by a meal. You can learn more by calling this years President Robert Wilkie (retired manager of Liberty BB&T). As you can see the Rotary presented a check to Kim Martin that heads up the Liberty Backpack program at Liberty Elem School to give you a kick start at purchasing food. This summer the club put up $3500 to buy and distribute food for the 54 backpack kids. They worked with Liberty Assoc Of Churches and the Liberty Boys Scouts Troop to back and distribute the bags in June, July and August. The club divided up rolls these months to pick up and help with passing out bags. One of our guest speakers for a meeting was Ms Harrell the Liberty Elem School Principal. She gave a great presentation to show the club where the school is in the county and all the new things in the horizon for this school year. She shared areas that the school could use help with. This is part of the Rotary learning and staying connected with the community and working with it. Each year also they club gives out scholarships to local high school students. This year the club was honored to give Jorge Martinez and Claudia Scruggs both from Providence Grove HS.
I am proud also to be a Liberty Rotarian. Something else I’d like you to know about my club :
Our club was established in 1929 and we are oldest civic club in Liberty. We have at least two (2) generations of Rotarians in club in Chip Butler and David Freeman. We are going to be able to expand our community outreach/service projects this coming year due to successful fundraiser in March.
A little bit about our President. Robert Wilkie is a retired BB&T Market Executive 40+ yrs, past President of Rotary as well as past club Treasurer. Wife Phyllis retired State of NC school health nurse, one son who is high school teacher and football coach, wife is exceptional children elementary teacher, and one granddaughter. Alumni of UNC-Chapel Hill and “bleeds” Carolina Blue. He has been actively involved in local community, civic, and recreational activities throughout career in Liberty area.
We was honored (as you can see in the picture below) to have two SHINING STARS and one RISING STAR recognized by Jon Spillman, District Governer for Rotary District 7690 and Assistant District Governor James Gouty. “Shining Star” and describe how this member continues to demonstrate “Doing Good in the World” and Rotary leadership and involvement through the years.

business and economic leader. Billy was instrumental in his year of Rotary Presidency in getting our club “out of the box” in terms of additional social and meeting activities besides the traditional Rotary activities all of which were well received. Thru his fundraising project chairmanship activities this year we were able to raise a record (for our club) amount of funds to be used for additional club service projects this year in addition to the Summer Back Pack Program. This is our most ambitious funding project following on the completion of our local Farmers Market building project which originated on Billy’s watch and for which we received distinction from RI within our district.
Second is, Dr. “Chip” Butler, DDS has also been a faithful member for many years as well as a past President and is a second generation Rotarian following in the footsteps of his father Dr. T.E. Butler, Jr. who was a very significant member of our community. Chip has spent weeks of his time over several years providing free dental care to underprivileged and underserved areas in South and Central American thru the NC Dental Society. In addition, he and his staff participated in a project to provide free dental care to workers with the State Fair that comes to NC each October as well as numerous free clinics in the Piedmont Triad area. Chip is our current Foundation Chairman and helped us achieve a very significant amount of funds and exceeding goals for the 15-16 year. We are currently on track to meet our goals for 16-17 year. Chip also serves as a recreation league youth coach and is a leader in his church community in Liberty.
“Rising Star” and describe accomplishments and how this member is growing in their Rotary experience. Kevin Bowmanabsolutely subscribes to the “Service Above Self” mantra of Rotary while giving tirelessly to town of Liberty community development projects, downtown merchants association, and annual chairperson of the Liberty Chamber of Commerce 4th of July celebration which brings thousands to our town each year. Very active in his church leadership, owns and operates the Liberty Leader which is our town newspaper devoted to community activities and events coverage, and is currently serving as Media Relations/Public Image chairman of our club. A past President of our club who rejoined club within last year after a leave of absence.
First was, William L (Billy) Hardin Jr. Billy has been a faithful Rotarian for a number of years as well as a community

Ribbon Cutting For New Business 2 Sisters was welcomed into town by Mayor Filmore York, that also gave all attendees the history behind this building and welcomed them to town. The Liberty Chamber helped set the stage for the ribbon cutting. The owners of 2 Sisters had great prizes for door prizes that was given away all day. They also have a great cake made by Local Sandy Baker of Sandy Creek Bakery. They chose the title for the cake , Thank You Liberty. Rhonda one of the owners, said it was so nice to have all the support Liberty gave to them. Kevin another of the owners, shared that they are also able to rented after hours for events and meeting of groups of 25 of more. They have done a great job bringing in a new business to Liberty.

Patterson Cottage to Give Downtown Tour
Join the Patterson Cottage Museum for a tour of historic downtown Liberty September 17 and learn these and other interesting facts about your hometown:
Why did Don Herndon carry blasting caps across US 421? What was a “crumble burger”? Why is North Fayetteville Street so wide in front of Liberty Elementary? And why is Raleigh Street so wide beside the Lutheran Church? Where was Liberty Normal College? Why was Lord Cornwallis in town in 1781? What house was hit by lightning in 1899, just missing the baby? Where was the skating rink? What fire prompted the town to build its water system? Who is Newberry Street named for? How about Swannanoa Avenue? What North Carolina governor spent a week camped just outside Liberty? Why did the railroad almost bypass Liberty? What Liberty merchant helped pay for his trips to Florida by singing in churches along the way? What grocery store building was physically moved from one side of the railroad to the other?
The Downtown Tour will begin at 11:00, Saturday, September 17 at the Patterson Cottage. It will also feature historic photos of Liberty along the route. The Patterson Cottage Museum will also be open to the public from 11:00-2:00. For more information, call Warren Dixon at 622-2731. (Photo Top Right caption: Downtown Liberty looking west in 1906. The buildings on the right, all wooden, are McPherson’s Department Store, the R.E. Patterson building, the post office, bank and the Moser building. McPherson’s was torn down in 1941 and the lot is now a parking lot. Across the street from McPherson’s was the Liberty Mercantile building, now the site of Carolyn’s. Next is the little stand operated by Guy Reitzel, then the Reitzel and Pickett General Store, Trogdon’s Store, the Millinery Shop and Bowman’s Drug Store. The two brick buildings, both on the left, still exist today. The one on the far end, Bowman’s Drug Store in 1906, now houses Liberty Tax Service. The Reitzel and Pickett General Store is now The Shadow Box Antiques.)

Example Of True Love 65 Year Anniversary Celebration
Story By Cathie Wagers Moran On September 1, 2016, we celebrate the 65th wedding anniversary of our parents, Robert and Margaret Wagers of Siler City, NC. Robert grew up in Missouri and was serving in the military in Newport News, Virginia and Margaret lived in Isle of Wight, Virginia. They first met on May 27th of 1951 and it was on that same day that Robert knew that Margaret was the girl that he wanted to marry. They were married 3 months later on September 1, 1951 and still remain strong in their commitment and love for each other. They were parents to 7 children, Vivian (deceased), Tom, John, Carolyn, David, Cathie and Jim. We, their children, have a great heritage. Our parents are 5th generation in our family who have celebrated 50 years of marriage or more. With the five generations, they have 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Although, I we have always seen their love for each other, I (Cathie) call this past year, their year of miracles. Within the past year, daddy, at the age of 89, had a stroke and we were told that he probably wouldn’t make it. On the September 1st, it will 10 months since the stroke. During these past 10 months, I have seen what it means to love and cherish. My mom and I made daily trips to see my dad in Chapel Hill and in Durham. During that time, mom would constantly hold dad’s hand, give him kisses and tell him she loved him. When daddy was able, he was returning those kisses and telling her, he wanted to come home, that he didn’t belong in the hospital. During this time so many prayers were offered up for him and our family. Daddy has been home now for several months and we’ve so much improvement and clarity in him. Coming home to be with his love seemed to be the best medicine as that is where he improved most. We have seen the strong faith in Jesus in both of them and continually our thanks goes out to the the Lord for His healing touch and precious love that He has given to both of my parents. Thank you, mom and dad for your love and faithfulness not only to each other but to the Lord and for loving me and being my example in what love and commitment are truly about….Love Cathie I wish a Happy 65th Anniversary to my dear parents. Thank you for showing all of us what a marriage should be and for living a dedicated life serving Jesus. I wish you many more years together. With much, love Carolyn and Kevin. Thank you for showing us what faithfulness looks like. Your faithfulness to each other and to God has been an enduring lesson for me… Tom Thank you. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for raising me to know God. Thank you for road trips around the USA and road trips on a weekend adventure to the mountains and Harper's Ferry. For spankings, when needed and fresh squeezed orange juice when I was sick. Thanks for teaching me how to use a saw and how to make chicken and dumplings. For canned tomatoes and beef jerky. Thanks for all the things that made me thirst for life and to seek experiences beyond the world at hand. But mostly, thanks for showing me The Way… Jim Thanks for being there . Thanks for the love . Thanks for being there when I needed you . Thanks for this and that and everything else . Love you Chat Conversation End.. John It's a wonderful thing when you have people in you life that you can look at through time and realize that they have been a rock and an anchor for so many things in your life. Thank you Mom and Dad for being a true constant of what a good life being lived should look like. Many times I have looked at you two for a reminder of what strength, loyalty and Godliness looks like.

Boy Scouting in Liberty Scouting is a Family program which teaches young boys responsibility and discipline as well as community involvement and success. You get what you put into the program. Your son will also need your involvement to make the program a success. Scouting is not just about Camping or Survival Skills, it’s about community and giving back what you can through planning, development and team work. Liberty has had a Scouting program for several years, we’re not quite sure of the date of establishment, but I am sure there are Citizens in Liberty that can tell you that they were Scouts here when they were younger.
Boys from the ages of 6 to 17 can join Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts in Liberty.
Did you know… there’s even a program for Co-Ed ages 13 ½ to 20? Boy Scouts of America (BSA) has a High Adventure program for those teens who are interested in hiking, repelling, mountain climbing, white-water rafting to deep sea diving. That is the Venturing Program. There isn’t a Venturing group in Liberty, however if an Adult Leader would like to Volunteer to start up the program, they could reach out to the local BSA Professional, Jason Powers at 336.880.8785 or email him at Jason.powers@scouting.org.
“It takes a Village to raise a Child” … and it takes an entire Community to support a Scout.
CUB SCOUTS: Boys 1st grade to 5th grade (6 – 10) Our Boys work together in small groups to accomplish goals set by the BSA Guidelines. Each Grade level has a specific rank and in each rank there are projects to complete. Each “adventure”, or goal, has a reward for the young Scout. Belt loops and patches are achievements earned for adventures accomplished.
Tigers – 1st Grade Boys
Wolfs – 2nd Grade Boys
Bears – 3rd Grade Boys
Webelos - 4th Grade Boys
Arrow of Light – 5th Grade Boys
Den Leaders guide the Scouts through the program and teach the boys using the Adventure Modules written in the Scouts guide books. These modules are filled with age appropriate, interactive projects and games. There is camping, fishing, building, survival skills and fundraising.
Meetings Every Tuesday At 7pm Cub Scouts Pack 502 Meets At Liberty FUMC Fellowship Hall 123 N Fayetteville St, Liberty Boy Scouts Troop 502 Meets At Scout Hut 336 N Kirkman St, Liberty
Many are aware of our annual Popcorn Sales and Camp Discount Breakaway cards. There are many other Fundraising events scheduled for the upcoming Scouting year. Did you know? Our local fundraising activities are designed to help all Scouts participate in activities that will provide fun, adventure, character development, and comradery. Fundraisers are not only to support Scouting activities, they teach our Scouts the value of earning their way, financial responsibility, and money management. So when you buy popcorn from a Scout, your helping our Scouts go to Summer Camp or go to an overnight Aquarium visit. Your help may also be used to support Scouts that have trouble with registration fees, uniforms, or even their Scout guides.
Pack 502 Cub Scout Goal for the year? Be Seen, Be Heard and Be Remembered for our community involvement during the year. BOY SCOUTS: Boys 6th Grade and up (beginning at 10 ½ ). This is where the Scout becomes more independent of their Parent. Group events have Adult Leaders involved, however, the boys plan their own trips. They plan everything from date and time to what materials they need to carry with them. Merit Badges are earned instead of belt loops and patches. These Merit Badges are “proof” a specific skill studied and accomplished. Advancement is determined by a number of Merit Badges earned. Life Scout and Eagle Scout are Advancement Ranks. Eagle Scout is the highest achievement earned. Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout is a great accomplishment for any Scout. When a Scout applies for College and future employment, that achievement can be placed on their applications and in some cases helps the Scout to be seen as a priority. Over the past three years, Liberty Boy Scouts Troop 502 has awarded 6 young Men in our Community with the rank of EAGLE for their hard work and dedication to our Community.
IT’S NEVER TOO LATE: You can join Scouts anytime throughout the year. Our programs run year round and every youth is welcome regardless of race or religion. Think Scouting is too expensive, as you have read there are fundraisers to help with the cost, but we also have scholarships available from the Old North State Council that can help. Our goal is for every youth that wants to Scout, give them the opportunity. Please contact Jason Powers (regional BSA professional) to get started today. Hail, Caesar: PG Standout Accepts offer to become apart of the Pride
Story By Jarrett Hulin Volleyball is a sport of passion. If you ever go to a volleyball game, all you can hear is the screams of the players, the communication back and forth as to who is going to make the play, and then once the play is executed, all the girls come together for a mid-court hug before going back into battle with the other team. Nine times out of ten, the team that simply wants to win more than the other team will do just that. They will be victorious once the game is done.
With the sport being such a passionate game, it’s obvious to believe that the individual teams need passionate leaders to make them successful. They need a girl who is a great communicator, a court general who can keep her team on the same page throughout the entire game. That is exactly what Providence Grove has in Ashley Caesar. She has been a three-year starter at Providence Grove, and has just verbally committed to go play volleyball at Hofstra University next year. “The decision wasn’t really up to me to go there, but once I went and toured the campus and talked to Coach Mansur, I knew this was somewhere that I could see myself growing as a player” Caesar said.
Hofstra is located in Hempstead, New York, which takes about nine hours to get there. Hofstra is also in the Colonial Athletic Conference, which is the conference for Elon and UNCWilmington.
Caesar explains that her parents, George and Dorothy Caesar, pushed her to be the player that she is today. Ashley’s father played basketball with Dell Curry at Virginia Tech in the late 80’s, and her mother also played basketball in high school.
“My parents have been so supportive of me throughout the years, especially my dad. He has just given me so much insight on what to expect in college volleyball, and my mom has always been competitive, so she has trained me to be competitive as well. They have just helped me so much in preparing me for college ball and I can’t thank them enough for that.”
Ashley’s father played basketball with Dell Curry at Virginia Tech in the late 80’s, and her mother also played basketball in high school.
One of the main reasons that Ashley was discovered by Hofstra was through playing for Piedmont Volleyball Club, which is a travel volleyball team that plays during the off-season of high school volleyball. “Playing for Piedmont has really opened my eyes to so many different things. Traveling to places like Orlando and Atlanta, and playing in these big tournaments with these large crowds has prepared me for college volleyball. Not to mention the coaches at Piedmont have pushed me to another level that I probably wouldn’t have got to if I just played high school volleyball.” Ashley also told me that club volleyball allowed her to meet girls who have played Division I volleyball, and she learned about what to expect in college through these people.

Ashley said that for this season, the main goal was for her team to get to the 2A State Championship game in Raleigh. “I feel like overtime, if we just build on our ability to communicate and work together as a team and push each other, we can make it to the finals without a problem.” With the Patriots having 10 seniors on this year’s squad, they will be a force to be reckoned with in the PAC-6 Conference, but so will Wheatmore. The Warriors went all the way to the 2A State Championship game before being defeated by South Granville, so if PG wants to get to Raleigh, they most likely will have to defeat Wheatmore first.
With so many upperclassmen on the volleyball team, its no surprise that the team has excellent chemistry with each other. Caesar said that her teammates give 100% effort all of the time. “It’s impossible to play volleyball without everyone on the same page, and I know that my team is on the same page all of the time because of the amount of effort we give.”
Caesar also said that the game of volleyball has changed her life in more ways than one. “The game has made me more ambitious. It’s made me become more of a go-getter. If I want something, I take it, and I am this way because of the game of volleyball.” If you go and watch Ashley in action, you can see the drive she has for the game. She plays the game with a little bit of swagger. She knows she’s good, and it shows in her play. Her athleticism makes her stand out above the rest of the competition. She is quick to the ball and can smack the ball like its being shot out of a cannon. And to top it all off, her leadership on and off the court makes her an all-around great player. She is constantly motivating her teammates on the sidelines to keep fighting, to keep striving for greatness. She leads the team as if she’s Augustus Caesar, because she pushes them in the right direction, just as Augustus did to Rome in 6 AD. I’m not really sure if there’s any connection between the two, but lets face it, they both compliment each other really well.

RACHEL BROWER Of LIBERTY EARNS GIRL SCOUTS’ HIGHEST HONOR Girl Scout Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont is pleased to announce that Rachel Brower, Liberty, earned her Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting. Brower, daughter of Alton and Lisa Brower and a member of Troop 41447, wanted to raise cancer awareness in her community. She made port-a-cath pillows and breast cancer seatbelt pillows that included Bible verses for encouragement. Brower also set up booths with interactive games at CVS and the Randolph Mall to create cancer awareness. By earning the Girl Scout Gold Award, Brower has become a community leader. Her accomplishments reflect leadership and citizenship skills that set her apart. “Earning the Girl Scout Gold Award designation is truly a remarkable achievement, and this young woman exemplifies leadership in all its forms,” said Lane Cook, chief executive officer of Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont. “She saw a need in her community and took action. Her extraordinary dedication, perseverance and leadership, is making the world a better place.” Some universities and colleges offer scholarships unique to Gold Award recipients, and girls who enlist in the U.S. Armed Forces may receive advanced rank in recognition of their achievements.

By: Andy Clapp September has come. Its’ arrival has given us the excitement that life is about to enter a new season. The heat of summer will begin to give way as Autumn descends on us, transforming the temperatures as well as the landscape around us. For many, the arrival of a new season is indeed a blessing, a breather from the onslaught of the heat that has left us weary and worn. Those longing for a change will soon experience such a change. For others, though, a change in season means homework and for others, the arrival of fall brings the anxiety of falling leaves needing to be raked.
Seasons change in life. The Bible tells us that in Ecclesiastes. Ecclesiastes 3 opens with these words, “There is an occasion for everything and a time for every activity under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1 HCSB) For every season of struggle, there will come a season of reprieve. For every season of calm waters, a season of storms will come. The Bible tells us the constant through it all is Christ. The Bible says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8 HCSB) The writer of Hebrews points this out to guard those who believe in Christ to avoid being led astray by false teachings, but the verse also teaches us something else. Jesus remains the same. He is consistent and He is constant. Though the seasons of life are not consistent, He will forever be the consistent, stabilizing force in an ever-changing world.
Recently, I commented on how life would never be the same as the world in which I grew up. Society has changed so drastically that the world I knew as a child is non-reflective of the world I now experience. Terrorism has changed the landscape of the world forever. Progressivism has taught that everything must evolve, the times must dictate the trajectory of the world, and all the while, morality has crumbled. Hatred is rampant. Greed is growing. The world loves itself more by the day and tries to silence God more and more with each passing hour. The simple times of what were will never be again.
This is where Christ’s consistency means so much to us. He remains. He does not change with the times. He continues to love, to forgive, and to redeem. He continues to define lives that are unsatisfied by the world’s definition of living. He is still the Christ who can calm the storms, the One who can heal, and is still the source of joy regardless of circumstances or situations. As the seasons change, we are reminded of an unchanging, forever perfect Lord who is present in every season of life, never leaving or forsaking those who are called by His name. Regardless of what season you are entering or what season you are coming out of, remember that there is always a reason to rejoice for He is with us.

Shiloh UMC Church 2016 Car Show Awesome
Give the gift of life. Donate to the American Red Cross Blood Drive
The Shiloh UMC Church of Liberty pulled off another terrific car show as normal. There was something for everyone there. The kids had a blast with all the activities and bounce house. The adults found them shade tree to sit under and the entries was a little bit of everything. Not sure if these three bikes was entries or just spectators rides. The biggest thing that is found at this church as it is always is their out pouring of love. This is one of the many inviting churches that makes you feel like you are at home. Great job folks.

If you have answered yes to any of these questions……then you need to participate in the Liberty Chamber of Commerce Business Expo. Come set up a table to share your business information with the community on Wednesday September 21, 2016. This is your opportunity to EXPOSE your business. Let Liberty get to know you; know the business you represent; know what type of services your business provides; know what kind of products you produce. Let us know your employment needs. Make your plans now to have your business participate and get the much needed exposure it deserves. This annual event has gained in popularity and participation. Don’t miss out! Reserve your space early! This event is free to all current 2016 Chamber Business Members; $25 for non-members. REGISTRATION is REQUIRED. Set up starts at 11am. For More information please contact the Liberty Chamber (336) 622-4937 or visit libertychambernc.com Taste of the Town “Mmm” Come enjoy a delicious meal courtesy of our local restaurants. (This is a chamber member only lunch.) 12-1pm. Join us during the Business Expo and get a wonderful “taste of the town” by sampling a selection from each participating restaurant’s menu. Let’s Give Back As we enjoy a delicious free meal; let’s give back to those in need. In lieu of paying for the “Taste of the Town” meal, we request that you provide a canned food donation. We will collect food cans for the Liberty Association of Churches Food Pantry. Last year we collected over 250 non-perishable food items to help needy families right here in Liberty. Please bring extra this year! (no salt and low sodium food items are needed)

A Word From Our Rep. Senator Rick Gunn, of the North Carolina General Assembly will be our keynote speaker. He will address the Chamber membership during lunch. The topic of his discussion will be “North Carolina Economic Investment and Growth.” Representative Gunn is fun, approachable, informative and always helpful. Please don’t miss this opportunity to hear directly from our state representative.
Job Fair If you are seeking employment, please make plans to visit our Chamber Business Expo between 1:30 -5pm. Dress to impress. Bring your resume. Some of the participating businesses will be in the market for prospective employees. It is always wise to make connections with the business community.
We Got the Scoop Ice cream and information! Businesses got the scoop at our August Chamber Business After Hours Event. As we all enjoyed delicious ice cream, we were also filled with information from the sponsoring businesses; Nationwide Insurance, Liberty Tire & Auto, and High Tech Collision. These businesses shared their featured products and services, informing us of what they have to offer Liberty. You always learn something new. We all enjoyed the more relaxed format of networking while socializing at this month’s Chamber Business After Hours Event.
Fun in the Fall Our next Chamber Business After Hours Event, will be held on Tuesday September 27th from 5:15-7:00pm. The BAH this month is sponsored exclusively by Liberty Advisors and will be hosted at their place of business. Liberty Advisors is located at 147 S. Fayetteville St. in Liberty. Come out, add some fun to your work routine, do a little business after hours and enjoy an evening of fun this fall!

I need everyone's help with something very special to my heart. Many people where we live know this wonderful man and his wife in this pic! This article was from The Courier-Tribune posted in December 2015. Mr. Wayland (aka Papa ) Smith and Mrs. Hilda Smith. â?¤ Blessings from above is what they have always been to me and my family. â?¤ This pic was an article about the wonderful Christmas blow ups and decorations they display every year just because they love Christmas and love to see the smiles it brings to children who visit. Every year they buy and collect more and more pieces and even like receiving them for their own Christmas gifts! Collecting close to 30 of the huge blowups! Unfortunately, a fire destroyed all of their decorations at the beginning of this month. The building they housed them in along with their lawn mower and other valuables caught fire and burnt to the ground, destroying everything inside. When I heard of this from their daughter, my heart broke and I knew I had to try to do something to help them. I know they would love to have these Christmas decorations replaced before Christmas decorating season begins, which for them is right after Thanksgiving. Please share this, send it to everyone you know. If you can donate a new Christmas inflatable and want to help these wonderful people, please do so. I have tried contacting the newspaper by email attaching the article and asking if they could do some sort of article where we could really get the word out but have never received a response. :( I will be glad to help in any way if you want to send gift cards for them to be purchased or if you want to have them shipped to The Smith's, pm me and I can provide an address. I am not blood related but a close family friend and love these two earthly angels dearly!

Meeting At 1:30pm To Learn Leaving At 2:00pm To Hunt
So you are asking what is Geo Caching , right? Well the easiest way I know how to sum it up is .... The Worlds Largest Treasure Hunt. So great you are thinking what is the next steps, well that is where New Life Ministry is wanting to be a help. We are scheduling a Geo Caching learning and experience here for the locals. We are going to do a little competition between our three ministries teams that is open to everyone. That would be between the College/Careers (high school graduate to 30's), Single Ministries (anyone single from high school graduate to age of 108 being single does not mean you have to be alone - the group is called C-SOuL [Calling Singles Of Liberty - the little (u) stands for you, come on out), and Family Ministries (the teen section- open to any teenager). Remember New Life Ministries is not a church and we do not want to compete with churches. Church members to the general public is welcome to be part of our ministries. So the competition will be to see who finds the most GEO Caches. On Sunday Sept 25 at 1:30pm we will meet at New Life Ministries building at 102 N Fayetteville St, Liberty and we have a veteran Geo Cacher to explain to us how to do this great outing. So what do you need to do? Step 1 : Create a free geocaching account (you can get one on your smart phone or your computer) Step 2: Go find the geocache , you can use your smartphone or a GPS to navigate to the prize Step 3: Once you find it share your experience. Did you know that there are 2,532 geocaches near just Liberty. ***Make sure to have your app loaded on your smart phone prior to Sept 25*** This is just one of many events scheduled. We will end up at Cedar Rock Park on Hwy 49 going toward Burlington and there New Life will have refreshments to enjoy. If you have any questions you can call Kevin Bowman over Singles 336-404-9791, Wesley Bishop over College 336-232-2299 or Russel Clemmer over Teens at 336-937-5130.
