"WHY PRAY TOGETHER EVERY THURSDAY @ 11 AM?" While praying with a group of men recently, one of our senior members felt impressed by God to encourage our community to join together once a week (wherever we are) in prayer for our Community, State, Nation and World. The question "WHY?" immediately came to mind... and I sensed God gave me these Scriptures to support His prompting of our Seasoned Citizen Psalm 116:2: "Because [God] bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath! Psalm 46:1 "God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. 1st Timothy 2:1-2: "I want you to pray for all people. Ask God to help and bless them. Give thanks for them. Pray for kings. Pray for everyone who is in authority. Pray that we can live peaceful and quiet lives. And pray that we will be godly and holy. Jeremiah 29:7: "work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you... Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare. Job 12:23: "[God] builds up nations, and He destroys them. He expands nations, and He abandons them. Matthew 18:20: "For where two or three gather together as my followers, I [Jesus] am there among them.

Those commands and promises are the reason why God is inviting you to join me and others every Thursday @ 11 am. So go ahead and set a reminder, make a sticky note, do whatever you do to remind you to do something important. Included in this edition of the Liberty Leader, you'll nd speci c things you can pray but don't let that be all you pray. Pray whatever is on your heart on that day and in that moment (for example, right now it's the Christians in Afghanistan for me)... it may take 30 seconds, 5 minutes or more, but commit now to joining people all over this area in praying for our Community, State, Nation and World Perhaps God will have mercy on us and ful ll 2nd Chronicles 7:14 for us at this time: "if My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves, pray, search for Me, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear [their prayer] from heaven, forgive their sins, and heal their country.

Who’s Talking to you?

Liberty Leader Phone 336-404-9791

A friend of mine shares some of the Michael Singer podcasts with me. I am so glad to know about him. He is a great speaker, and really gets his point across. Go to Youtube.com and search for Michael Singer. I quickly realized that he has also written a book called the untethered soul. That is what we will unpack today. It is absolutely worth your time to read or listen to the audio book version. If you commute, that’s a great time to listen! Let’s get started. Michael speaks of a voice inside your head. When you answer in your head, “I don’t have a voice inside my head”, that’s the one he is speaking of. Step back from it and just watch it go on and on. An example from Michael’s book, “Wasn’t I supposed to call Fred? I should have. I can’t believe I forgot! He’s going to be so mad. He may never talk to me again. Maybe I should stop and call him right now. No, I don’t want to stop the car right now…” The voice takes both sides of the conversation, and just keeps on talking, not caring which side it’s on. Why do you listen to it? Because you hadn’t recognized it was there talking and talking. It never shuts up, it talks and talks. To get free of the chatter, you will need to step back and watch it. Just view it as a noise coming from outside of you. It talks and you listen, according to Michael Singer, and he’s right! So, if it says nice things you view it as you, and if it is mean, then you do not view it as you. You would not ever say those things. Well guess what? Michael points out that neither voice is you. It is NOT you. OK so what does that mean? Listen to it. Most of what it says is meaningless, a waste of time and energy. The only person it affects is you. It is going on inside your head. You are listening, but not sharing what it is saying. Many times it is causing a commotion in life, really causing problems for you. It worries and goes in circles, creating issues and then resolving them. So, let’s understand why it says what it says and when it says it. It talks for the same reason as a tea kettle whistles. There’s a buildup of energy inside, that needs to be released. Michael explains in his book, the untethered soul, that if you notice when there’s a buildup of nervous, fearful or desire-based energies inside, the voice becomes extremely active. It’s easy to see when you are angry with someone and feel like telling them off. Just watch how many times the inner voice tells them off before you even see them. So when energy builds up inside, you want to do something about it. That voice talks because you are not okay inside, and talking releases energy, like the tea kettle. Notice that the voice narrates your world for you. “Look at that dog! It’s a Labrador! Hey there’s another dog in that car. He looks a lot like my first dog, Shadow. Whoa, there’s an old Oldsmobile. It’s got Alaska plates. You don’t see many of those down here!” Talk, talk, talk. If you watch carefully, you will notice that you feel more comfortable with the world around you as it points everything out, that you, of course, already have seen and know. You feel in control when it talks about what you see and labels things and then proceeds to tell you what it all means. You may begin to notice that the voice is an ongoing commentary about your life and your world. Are you then, living inside your head more than you are enjoying the experience, that is happening around you in the present moment? You re-create the world in your mind and you can then control it there in your mind, whereas you feel out of control in the outside world. After all, things are happening to you, right? Michael’s example here: You’re walking outside in the winter, you start to shiver, and the voice says, “It’s cold” Now, how did that help you? You already knew it was cold. You’re the one who’s experiencing the cold. Why is it telling you this? You re-create the world, that is why you mentally talk about it. If you can’t get the world the way you like it, you internally verbalize it, judge it, complain about it, and then decide what to do about it. This makes you feel more empowered. When your body experiences cold, there may be nothing you can do about the temperature. But when your mind verbalizes, “It’s cold!” It then answers, “We’re almost home, just a few more minutes.” Now you feel better. In the thought there is always something you can do to control the experience. Basically, you re-create the outside world inside yourself, and then you live in your mind. What if you decided not to do this? Not to narrate the world, just observe the world as it is. The real You is inside noticing the voice talking. The voice talking is not you. It says things to you that you would never allow others to say to you! It upsets you and makes you anxious or depressed. The real you is inside, aware that the voice is always talking to yourself about yourself and your world. The real you is silent and deep, centered and knowing. Michael Singer says, Come to know the one who watches the voice, and you will come to know one of the great mysteries of creation. Pretend it is your roommate and is someone outside of you chattering incessantly. Watch that roommate talk, take them everywhere, because they insist that you take them. Of course you cannot get through life without them. They talk and talk. You will begin to know for sure that the voice is NOT you. Singer’s 180 page, double-spaced, easy-to-read, book will become a favorite of yours. It is really funny to watch what the voice does as you expose it and all of its silliness. Try it! You are welcome to share what you find with us at bitsnpiecesliberty@gmail.com. Thanks, folks! Until next time, stay safe and well. We appreciate your company.

Liberty Chamber September Newsletter Written by Amanda Price

Congratulations to Body Balance Therapeutic Message on their Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Last Month! We are excited for your new journey and wish you the best of luck with your business for years to come! Body Balance Therapeutic Massage began out of the owner's own muscular pain. Jaime began having hip and lower back pain many years ago that no treatment seemed to help. After consideration she felt that her next step was massage (looking back she feels it should have been one of her very first). She began a therapeutic relationship with a licensed massage therapist and through a series of specific massage therapy techniques found herself no longer in pain. She once again was able to do the things she loved to do because her body was now balanced. This sparked her interest to drop her entire career and go to school and become a licensed massage therapist. Through her education she is now able to help others, just as she is being helped. Today, she owns and operates Body Balance Therapeutic Massage at 4768 NC Hwy 49 N, Liberty, NC 27298 at the rear entrance of Cut n Up, Hair and Nails. Body Balance Therapeutic Massage offers weekday, evening and Saturday appointments for Relaxation, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release, Himalayan Salt Massage and much more. Check out her website at www.bodybalancetherapeuticmassagellc.com for more information.

On Guard As we are entering into the time of environmental and seasonal threats. Let’s look at how the On Guard from Doterra can help support our immune system and is a powerful cleaner. This is one of our most popular oils and product lines On Guard can be taken internally to help our body’s natural antioxidant defenses and support our immune system. I take this daily. Aromatically it puri es the air. We have our diffuser going all day during this time of year with On Guard in it. You can use it topically but I always dilute it with fractionated coconut oil, this is a great way to apply it to babies and young children to help their immune system There is a whole line of On Guard products: My family uses all of them The 15 ml oil, Touch (pre diluted roller ball) Beadlets, Onguard + soft gels Protecting throat drops, mouth wash, toothpaste, hand sanitizing mist, foaming hand soap concentrate with dispenser, and sanitizing wipes There is laundry detergent which is great at getting stains out and a concentrate cleaner great for Kitchens, bathrooms, and oors Recipe Soak a cut apple in water with a couple drops of on guard to have a refreshing, healthy snack that will boost your immune system For more information contact me at my.doterra.com/ lcobb1 or call 336-549-449

Planning pays in retirement Personal savings are key to living comfortably Michael doesn’t see himself living on the beach when he retires, but he’d like to vacation there with his wife. He worries he isn’t saving enough in the 401(k) account he has at work, but he isn’t sure what more he can manage with two kids, a mortgage and credit cards. Michael faces two dilemmas: Saving enough money for a comfortable retirement, and making those savings last his lifetime. Like most Americans, having money in retirement may depend on part-time jobs, personal savings and tax-advantaged retirement savings accounts. A financial representative can help people like Michael understand their options, such as 401(k) and 403(b) plans, annuities, and individual retirement accounts (IRAs). The key is to set goals and get started. The longer you wait to start saving, the more you will have to save to reach those goals.

I can help you plan for life. J. B. Griffith, III, FIC, LUTCF, RICP, ChFC®, CLU® 147 S. Fayetteville Street PO Box 699 Liberty, NC 27298 B. 336-622-6020 C. 336-908-1748 j.b.griffith.3rd@mwarep.org
