Project Background

Tai O Treasure Hunt is a series of programme that promote historical story and heritage in Tai O through first hand experience, role play and interaction with the locals. This project simply want to promote connection between tourists themselves and locals. The interaction is an act to bring happiness and deepen the experience in Tai O.

Vision Statement

To foster culture-oriented tourists’ immersion in exploring the heritage of Tai O fishing village through and interaction with locals in experience.

Simone loves exploration, diverse culture and inclines to plan by himself. Experience Design Vision Simone is a big fan of travelling and exploring different kind of cultures but he is frustrated by wasting time to find his way around in an unknown place. Currently, the Tai O Resources Centre provides no detailed and purposeful directions for travellers to familiarize themselves with their surroundings. In the future, the needs of individuals, their interests and motivations to engage with Tai O the destination, will expand at a deeper level, around the various sites, their stories,the heritage and the connection to the local folk. Travellers will begin their destination journey at the Tai O Resourcve Centre, from where their are made aware off various activties and cultural touch points availalbe to them while at the location.

Route A: Aesthetics Appreciation Guided tour is provided for tourist to learn more about the aesthetics and symbolic meanings in Chinese culture. Tourists immerse themselves in the Chinese architecture.

Route C: Seafood Snack Hunting People absorb the experiences through picking the dry seafood that recommended, they could smell, touch and even eat the seafood snack and watching the process of making the dried shrimp.

Route B: Cooking with Tai O Grandma The guest learn how to make a traditional rice cake together for increasing individual’s knowledge and skills on cooking the traditional Chinese delicacy in the events engage the mind.

Route D: Being a Fisherman Memorable encounters of escapist experience which involve allows tourists immersed in the process of finding, cooking and having calm in a traditional fishing manner through traditional tools and technique instructed by local fisherman.
