How To Determine Handing And Door Swing 1.The hand of a door is determined from the outside. 2. The outside of an entrance door is the street side. 3. The outside of a room door is the corridor side. 4. The outside of a communicating door is the side from which hinges are not visible with door closed. 5. The outside of a closet door is the room side. 6. The key side (x) will be the outside, unless otherwise specified.
On Pairs Of Doors 7. Right hand leaf is always active unless specified otherwise.

Ordering Information 1. All doors are made to specifications and should be ordered by stating exact overall size. Width first, then height. 2. A proposal and drawings will be sent to you for verification. Please check it carefully and promptly return a signed copy with payment as specified. Any corrections or changes should be noted on your signed copy. 3. Due to the natural characteristics of hardwood, the following limitations in size are suggested to prevent stress or excessive warping: 2 1/4" thick doors should not exceed 42" x 96" 1 3/4" thick doors should not exceed 36" x 96" 1 3/8" thick doors should not exceed 36" x 84" Special construction techniques may be required for doors exceeding the suggested sizes, for whick the manufacturer assumes no responsibility. 4. Warp shall not be considered a defect unless it exceeds 5/16" in the plane of the door itself. Warp is any distortion in the plane of the door itself and does not refer to the relationship of the door to the frame or jamb in which it is hung. 5. Wood is selected according to your stain color. Slight mineral streaks, some natural variations in color and texture, or small pitch pockets are not considered defects, but a natural accurrence in fine hardwoods. Cherry is prone to have more of these than other species. 6. On request, panel edges will be stained prior to assembly to avoid white shrinkage lines.
64
Handling, Job Finishing, And Installation Instructions 1. Upon receipt of shipment of doors, inspect each door for any visible defects. Doors should be stored flat on a level surface in a dry, well ventilated building. Cover to keep clean, but allow circulation. 2. Handle with clean gloves and do not drag doors across one another or across other surfaces. 3. Doors should not be subject to: abnormal heat, extreme dryness, humid conditions, or sudden changes therein. They should be conditioned to average prevailing relative humidity of the locality before installation. 4. The utility or structural strength of the door must not be impaired in the fitting of the door, the application of the hardware, or cutting and altering the door for lights, louvers, panels, or any other special details. 5. Door should not be trimmed more than 1" at bottom, 1/2" at top, and 1/4" on each side. Before finishing, remove handling marks or exposure to moisture with a thorough, final sanding over all surfaces of the door using 180 grit sandpaper and clean before applying sealer or finish. Some species of wood contain a chemical (oak particularly) which reacts unfavorably with certain finishes. Where possible, the surface should be tested for such unfavorable reactions. 6. Immediately after cutting and fitting, but before hanging, the entire door, including TOP and BOTTOM EDGES, must receive an application of a primer and two coats of a good grade of paint, varnish, or lacquer. Do not use a water-thinned paint unless an oil base prime coat is first applied. Exterior finishes must be used on all exterior doors. 7. We recommend that our doors should be spray painted rather than brushed. The panels in the doors are designed to be able to move without binding or cracking. If these panels are painted in a way that creates build-up where they insert into the frame, panel movement is restricted. This will cause cracks in the paint and possibly the wood, causing the door to warp.
