Linear Winches

Kleyfrance is the world leader in linear winches. With almost 100 units delivered and operating worldwide, we provide linear winches with proven design, unequaled reliability, and outstanding performances. Our linear winches can be part of an RPS (riser pulling system) or used for heavy marine/land operations, such as mooring, pipe pulling, and structure erection. Key features include: • excellent weight/size to load ratio • different layouts and working positions • continuous or intermittent motion • socket passing • inching control (very low speed) • load limitation We have recently delivered several linear winches with the world’s highest capacity: 800t.

We have developed several types of winches operating either inside the submarine hull or in immersion outside the hull. Qualified for harsh environment (shock, vibration, EMC, etc.), our antenna winches are specially designed with high-tech components to comply with military specifications and achieve outstanding performance: • acoustic discretion • EMC • shock and vibration resistance • reliability, availability and maintainability Naval defense work is extremely challenging because of the strictness of the specifications and the sophistication of the required technology. Kleyfrance’s success on naval defense projects has contributed to our expertise and proven that we can meet the toughest standards on the most demanding projects.

Since the early 1970’s, Kleyfrance has been developing anti-whip solutions for nuclear power plants, in partnership with CEA and Areva (formerly Framatome). These systems serve to prevent sudden whipping of steam pipes of reactor cooling circuit. In case of pipe failure, a significant amount of energy would be released by pressurized steam. In this instance, anti-whip systems would act to efficiently absorb this energy, ensuring the damage would not be further propagated to the rest of circuit. Kleyfrance has equipped all French nuclear power plants (58 reactors) and partnered with Framatome, then Areva, in the construction of several plants worldwide, including in South Africa, China and South Korea.

For over 10 years, Kleyfrance has supplied these systems for 3rd generation nuclear plants (EPR), and is currently working on several projects under construction in China.

The Kleyfrance story2started 60 years ago, with the invention of a patented wire rope socketing technique (anchorage). This technique has now many civil engineering applications, such as pre-stressed concrete and suspended roofs, requiring the tensioning of anchoraged wires and wire ropes. Historic Kleyfrance projects with this technology include Saint-Nazaire Stadium in the 60’s, Munich Stadium in 1972, and Teheran Stadium in 1977. Today, Kleyfrance continues to utilize this socketing technique in several sectors such as: • tensioning of Pylons for electricity transportation • landing stoppers for fighter aircraft

The Kleyfrance organization reflects our will to provide customers with the highest possible added-value all along the project. Project organization: a highly skilled Project Manager attends to customer needs and ensures that everything goes smoothly, on time and on budget. Industrial chart: in order to bring real added value and achieve excellence, we focus on our core expertise (engineering, project management, commissioning and services), and subcontract the manufacturing phases to qualified suppliers. This is transparent for our customer, however, as we entirely manage the interfaces and oversee every aspect of the project up to turnkey delivery. • Engineering is a key point, as our highly customized and innovative solutions are developed 100% internally. Over 60 years of pioneering activity, we have delivered no less than 300 systems, and have developed considerable know-how in various areas related to our business. Our engineering team is split into two distinct yet closely related engineering offices: one dedicated to mechanical design, and the other to motorization, including hydraulics, electrics and automation issues. As an innovative com-

FOCUSED ON CORE EXPERTISE 12

pany, we hold several patents, especially in relation with linear winches, heavy lifting, and synthetic rope deployment winches. • Manufacturing of mechanical parts is entrusted to highly qualified subcontractors, selected for their excellence in processes such as welding, machining, heat treatment, and surface treatment. • Control command systems are developed in partnership with strategic sub-contractors. This includes electrical cubicles (power and PLC), control consoles and HMIs. Hydraulic Power Units (HPU) can be developed either 100% internally or through close partnerships. In all cases, Kley France retains full control, by defining the architecture and regulation loops, establishing detailed specifications, and running functional tests. • Assembly, commissioning and testing of the equipment are performed by our teams in our 1500 m² technical hall located close to Nantes. • Worldwide service: as per project requirements and logistics constraints, we can readily deploy our organization and teams around the globe. In this way, we can easily deliver closer to customer sites anywhere in the world, and adapt the percentage of local manufacturing and commissioning. • Worldwide product support : our Product Support Office efficiently handles all logistics and human issues related to dispatch of spare parts and onsite support. Our site engineers can be mobilized anywhere in the world on short notice for support, maintenance and operations. They hold all necessary documents to work either onshore or offshore, (eg visas, medical certificates, BOSIET and HUET training certificates).

OUR ORGANIZATION

REACTIVITY & FLEXIBILITY

Kleyfrance is a human size company: with our reasonable size and highly skilled people driven by strong team spirit, we offer our customers reactivity and flexibility. We consider this to be critical in complex industrial projects.

13

Kleyfrance has a long background in the nuclear, military and oil & gas sectors. Working for demanding customers in highly complex environments has given us solid experience in quality, safety, and traceability.

Both systems play a vital role in full compliance with customer requirements.

Where applicable, our projects are third-party certified (DNV, Bureau Veritas, Lloyds Register LRQA, ABS, IRS, etc.) in accordance with international offshore rules, such as Bureau Veritas NR526, DNV 2-22 lifting appliances, DNV 2.7-1 lifting certification, API standards and even Norsok standards. Our equipment is CE certified where applicable, and can be designed for specific environments including ATEX, onshore, offshore and subsea. The Kleyfrance Quality Management System, certified ISO 9001 by DNV since 2000, ensures optimal organization with a focus on continuous improvement. In addition, our Product Quality Management system controls strict compliance with specifications and standards, closely monitoring quality every step of the way, from the purchase of each component until final certification. We detect the slightest nonconformity quickly and take rapid action to eradicate the root cause.
