The Haunted Mind eBook This eBook was created by myself in a Web/Multimedia Design cour se at Purdue Univer sity. I chose a shor t stor y to develop into an eBook and created a cover that would embody the stor y through a series of sketches and color studies. Also I drew all of the illustrations and wrote the code for an actual downloadable ver sion of the book. The cover and illustrations were developed using Photoshop and Illustrator, and the Dreamweaver for the coding. Shown here are color and black and white renderings of the cover, as well as a few sample pages from the actual eBook.

Helvetica Flash calculator app, 320x480 px Using Flash, I developed this wor king calculator application for iPhone in a Web/Multimedia cour se at Purdue Univer sity. I had to choose from a given typography list, and after sketching different calculator s using different types of typography, I chose Helvetica. My inspiration for the design of the calculator was Bauhaus, using vibrant color s and clean lines to emulate that par ticular style . Also, ActionScript 2.0 was used to make the calculator fully functional. Shown here is the finished product, the color s used in the design, and a few of the typographic studies.

Gagaism iPhone Wallpaper Series Using Illustrator and Photoshop, I developed these Lady Gaga inspired wallpaper s for iPhone in a Web/Multimedia cour se at Purdue Univer sity. The basis of this project was to develop color schemes within a subject series, and I felt that Lady Gaga was perfect because she was ver y popular at the time . Through a series of color studies, a vision was born out of inspiration from her famous 2009 MTV VMA performance and many of her other crazy outfits. To unify the series, I used the textured backgrounds with accents from each of the outfits in opposing corner s.

For Sale Social Issues Poster Utilizing Photoshop as well as Illustrator, I developed this large scale poster for a Poster Design class. The social issues topic I chose was human trafficking, and also did all of the research, photography, editing and design for the poster. By cutting off the per son at the neck, it deper sonalized it a bit to indicate that the horror of human trafficking can happen to anyone . As a way to add an ominous and mysterious aspect to the poster, I chose to only have the title of the poster and the website to refer to for information about the issue .

Easy as Pie
Making the steps of baking an apple pie as visually appealing as the finished product.
Combine 1/2 cup of sugar, 2 tablespoons of flour, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg. Stir in apple slices and transfer to pie crust.
Place about 3 inches of tin foil over edge of crust to prevent burning. Place on the middle rack of your oven and bake for 45-50 minutes or until topping is a light golden brown.

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Gather ingredients (note: keep butter chilled until needed for topping), two bowls and a pie dish; wash, peel, and slice apples and place store bought pice crust into pie dish.

Start
Combine 1/2 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of packed brown sugar and 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon. Cut chilled butter into mixture and combine with fork until fully mixed and crumbly (this takes some work, so put some muscle into it!). Sprinkle over apples.
Finish: time will vary
Serve Serve pie warm. Top with whipped topping or a scoop of ice cream. ENJOY!

Easy as Pie Directional/Informational Poster This poster’s purpose was to be either informative on a place or topic, or directional by giving directions from point A to point B. I designed “Easy as Pie” to look outside the box of a typical directional poster and per sonal to my love of baking. Identified the problem that most people tend to have mistakes with recipes due to the separation of the ingredients from directions. The solution devised was a time line layout to combine ingredients with directions into five easy steps. Photoshop used for the photo editing and Illustrator for the layout design.

Final
Finally! She broke free from Helvetica. Typographic Study Book As a par t of a Typography cour se , I was given two letter s to use in creating a combination mar k and the letter s given to me were F and H. By using a specific typography list, I went through a series of about one hundred sketches or so to arrive at a final product. Once the final product was decided upon, I developed a book with a shor t stor y line to showcase the progress to finished product, and then wor ked closely with Purdue Printing Ser vices to create the full book.

Annie’s Homegrown Rebranding and repackaging In a Branding and Package Design cour se , we were to select any packaging, with the exception of liquids, to rebrand and repackage . My decision was to stick with something that I am familiar with and buy often, which was Annie’s Homegrown Totally Natural and Organic food products. The problem with this pre-existing packaging that I wanted to solve was the overwhelming lack of a cohesive and clean look across the products. Illustrator was used to design the packaging, and the photos were taken by myself, with editing done in Photoshop.

Focus: Life through a lens Layout Design Series These two layouts were created in another Print design cour se using InDesign to better learn the aesthetics of creating successful layouts. Given to me were a bank of images to choose from, to then create a heading and sub head to accompany the image I decided upon, the camera. Also, the purpose of this project was to utilize a grid system to develop the layout.

Design Revolution Magazine Spread Design In a Print design cour se at Purdue Univer sity we fur ther developed skills to design layouts, but here with respect to spreads and creating a cohesive flow between them. For the project we were given specific magazine types to choose from, as well as a specific header and sub head to develop the subject matter. Here I selected a specific, tight color scheme and used InDesign for the layout and Photoshop for photo editing and etc.

Boiler Television Advertisements Internship Work These are a few samples of adver tisements that I am required to create for the local television networ k on Purdue Univer sity’s campus. Campus organizations submit ad requests that I accept and have to execute into a 640x260 pixel confinement, that causes me to have to be more creative with the layout. Photoshop and Illustrator are used to develop the adver tisement designs for jpg files.

Venus Flytrap Identity and Branding Design In a Print design cour se at Purdue Univer sity I was given the freedom of selecting any living organism to brand and create an identity for by abstracting the subject. My organism of choice was the Venus Flytrap because I felt that it would be a challenging subject to brand. I solved problems by creating a detailed abstraction in the top left depiction, then fur ther abstracting it to help create the logo and combination mar ks you see in the bottom two images.
