My biggest inspiration would have to be the classic 80s slashers.
They have shaped who I am as a designer and artist.
so I thought the best way to show that is by making tribute posters.
4
I illustrated these and designed the rest in Adobe Illustrator. The idea was to have the character be the main focus but to add a special touch by adding elements from the movies like Friday the 13th with the lake, Halloween with the house, and Nightmare on Elm Street with the sleeping woman and the wall.
5
I used a Wacom tablet to draw out the line work to the pieces once the sketches were complete.
This was a struggle at the time due to my lack of knowledge on how to connect the backgrounds with the figure.

7
The hardest had to be Nightmare on Elm Street.
8
because compared to Friday the 13th and Halloween there isn’t a closed space I could go off of, the boiler room is a very broad location.

While working on the posters I managed to get the basic idea down for each when it came the colors and shapes.
12
The figures came out on top with the shading and detail I added.

The background elements were a struggle when it came to the detail since I was still stuck on the idea of combining the figure with the background.

Now you may be asking, why the 80’s horror movies? Weren’t you born in 1998? How are these important to you?
Well when I was young and had used the internet for the first time I was able to stumble upon clips of horror movies. It scared me sure, but it also fascinated

Horror has always been one of my biggest comforts in life, it’s scary stuff sure but it’s that odd thing that really just stuck with me compared to many other typical things people my age like.
Horror I think can be misunderstood sometimes, I think artist like me want to show how you can have fun with it while also making it effective.

Hope you enjoyed my deep dive into the horror poster triptych! My dream is to explore this type of design more.
