Low Dose Digital Radiography New X-ray system at KMH reduces radiation dosage KMH Radiology is pleased to announce that in an effort to make advanced medical equipment available to patients, we have acquired a Definium 5000 digital X-ray system. The state-of-the-art system delivers high-quality studies that are comfortable for patients – and enables you to get exam results quickly. It provides excellent images in short exams with lower radiation dose as compared to traditional X-ray imaging. Our new system is highly flexible; ideal for a full range of orthopedic studies, as well as for chest X-rays and other general-purpose imaging. It expands physicians’ power to see inside the body and helps them make quick, confident diagnoses. The system includes advanced imaging tools, such as: Auto Image Processing, an anatomical view-based
digital image processing technique that automatically optimizes and enhances image quality. Tissue Equalization, which displays low-density and
high-density tissues in a single view, providing optimum contrast. Image Paste, which lets
us create seamless pictures of long bones, such as the legs or spine, in one automated process that takes as little as 15 seconds.

Over 50% Reduction in X-ray Dose X-ray dose was calculated for two view chest exams for both Computed Radiography (CR) and Digital Radiography (DR) technologies. For both technologies, the same standardized technique was used. As the graphic shows, using DR equipment, X-ray dose was reduced by 58% for LAT chest exams and 60% for PA chest exams.
