MARCOS CALO CONSOLIDATED SKA “MICRO-LENDING” Barangay Marcos Calo is one of the progressive community in the municipality and considered as one of the outlet barangay to the neighboring municipalities. Most of the people in the community are engaging into agricultural business such as rice and corn farming, banana plantation and etc. Because of its active economic condition, many of the private investors have invested in the area especially those micro-finance institutions that lends money to the farmers. This lending institutions greatly affects the livelihood of the farmers because of its high interest rates and the members don’t have any choice but to gamble due to lack of financial capital. Thus, a group of Pantawid Pamilya members have organized through the Sustainable Livelihood Program and identified “Micro-Lending” as their main project aiming to provide lending services that will help the farmers earn more income from their livelihood.

Marcos Calo Consolidated SKA “Micro-Lending” has become identified by its members due to rampant Micro-Finance Institutions in the community that greatly affects its livelihoods because of its high interest rates. Its main objective is to provide lending services and offer minimal interest rates to its members and other people in the community. This enterprise is run by a group of 35 Pantawid Pamilya members and combine its resources and capital to achieve their goals. The association is registered to Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) and DOLE. The members have equitable contributions to the association and patronize their products and services and share it to other community members by offering the same services.

All the members of the association are considered captured market and some of the members in the community are also their regular clients. This project has becoming more active and progressive because of its fast loan processing services and offers minimal interest that really attracts the clients and able to patronize the associations’ lending services than availing in other private lending institutions.

Because of its lending project, the association has able to engage into other micro-enterprise projects such as Catering Services, Tilapia Production and Grocery Store. Its catering services has now caters DSWD program activities such as SLP skills training activities, KC-NCDDP forums and training activities and LGU meetings and seminars. Their grocery store has becoming more progressive because of its gradual increase in income per month. And the tilapia production of the association has already been operating last month and will be harvested after four months.
