SHELBY CRISWELL STU DIO ART

Even before I was serious about art, I knew it was a god-given talent. From the moment I was able to hold a crayon in my hand as a three year old up until now, I’ve been scribbling and inscribing all sorts of surfaces just about everyday. That’s where I feel most myself: in the long nights staying awake finishing a drawing or working hard to fill up a sketchbook and being proud of it. I often feel drawn to meditation, enlightenment, and astral projection (exploring outside of the body). My work revolves around experiences I face as well as learning who I am and where my place in the world is. I secretly came to save the world but got distracted and kept falling in love.

ELIZA CYPERS P H OT O G R A P H Y

I have always been a creative individual. Whether I was painting, drawing, or creating banners with chalk on the sidewalk, I have always had an artistic soul. I was given my first camera on my 10th birthday. It was a standard Polaroid camera. To me, it was a new outlet to perceive the way I experienced the world around me. In college I studied film. I was determined to be a film critic. This was until I took an introductory course to darkroom photography. I was seduced by the calm of the darkness, and the smell and textures of the chemicals on my hands. The entire process of shooting a roll, developing it, exposing the images and watching them take actual form was captivating. As I became a more evolved person, my style and knowledge of photography grew. I became inspired by photographing strong looking women. I became more active, and planned actual photo shoots. I collaborated with my subjects on how they wish to be captured. I also began styling my own shoots. My portfolio has a wide variety. It ranges from fashion forward photography, to urban street photography, to portraiture, to commercial shots. Although my style changes, the basis of my work remains photographing powerful and rare women. I work closely with them to best create photographs that reflect how they wish to be portrayed. As I continue to work, I hope my portfolio continues to evolve and reflect the beauty and importance of being an interesting, and unique woman.

These drawings come out meditatively. If I’m ever completely honest, it would probably be when I’m scribbling these things and laughing… - Thinking about absolutely nothing in particular. I’m a romantic. If these pictures say anything, it’s “Hi!”

LINDSAY REILLY FA S H I O N

Five years ago, I started a business designing and creating custommade handbags at my home in Quincy, MA. All materials are made in the US, and supplied by local businesses, ensuring a one-of-akind look. Every bag is named after a person who has inspired my success, and helped me along the way. All of them represent a crucial part in making my dream come true, and this is my way of showing my appreciation! Each bag I create represents a memory in my life, inspired by both people and places. These bags represent who I am, who I want to be, and where I want to go. Lindsay Tia handbags accentuate every woman’s individual style, but leave all of them feeling fun, flirty, and fabulous. It’s a bag that’s fit to carry everything you need, and always be at your side. Each bag is a one of a kind, hand-made bag designed for who you are! Its more then just a handbag, its an experience!

Any and all work sent to knackmagazine1@gmail.com will be considered for submission as long as it follows submission guidelines. KNACK is requesting material to be reviewed. Reviews extend to any culture-related event that may be happening in the community in which you live. Do you know of an exciting show or exhibition opening? Is there an art collective in your city that deserves some press? Are you a musician, have a band, or are a filmmaker? Send us your CD, movie, or titles of upcoming releases which you’d like to see reviewed in KNACK. We believe that reviews are essential to creating a dialogue about the arts. If something thrills you, we want to know about it and share it with the KNACK community—no matter if you live in the New York or Los Angeles, Montreal or Mexico. All review material can be sent to knackmagazine1@gmail. com. Please send a copy of CDs and films to 321 Tesuque Dr., Unit A, Santa Fe, NM 87505. If you would like review material returned to you include return postage and packaging. Entries should contain pertinent details such as name, year, release date, websites and links (if applicable). For community events we ask that information be sent up to two months in advance to allow proper time for assignment and review. We look forward to seeing and hearing your work.
