The only child of Mr. and Mrs Hawkins of Chestnut Drive, Albert was born naughty and has remained so ever since. The creator of Squirt, Giles Pilbrow, currently draws regularly for various sections of the Sunday Times as well as for Private Eye, TV Times, and The Spectator. He is also an established TV Producer, having produced and written for numerous series of Have I Got New For You, Spitting Image, as well as The Big Breakfast and sundry other TV programmes for four main terrestrial channels. He is currently running the award winning ITV1 topical animation show, 2DTV, through his own television company, 2DTV Ltd. It all started with a branch... On the face of it, it may look like a cartoon about owls (and other assorted creatures). But actually, it’s not really about owls at all. It’s about the day-to-day lives of a collection of characters that just happen to live on a branch (and sometimes off it). There’s a central character, of course, a grumpy, cantankerous little guy (Little Owl) who views his woodland surroundings with a jaundiced eye. And, despite his irascibility, he draws in other characters around him – his laid-back Cousin Jed, his mighty elder relative, Great Uncle Eagle Owl, the scary little Frieda, the Woodpecker-next-door, the Highly Athletic Spider – all to the constant tramp of the neverending Ant Patrol. And, as you get to know them better, you find some pretty familiar traits and some even more familiar activities. Aside from his general grumpiness, it turns out Little Owl is a dealer in woodland commodities (albeit an incompetent one), while Jed doubles as agent, lawyer, manager and general go-to guy, when he’s not getting lost, that is. The Ant Patrol is the next best thing to the SAS, and the Woodpecker – well, he’s that irritating next-doorneighbour who just can’t leave those power tools alone. We like to think you will be drawn into their world of dodgy woodland deals, epic (but erratic) journeys, dubious work-out routines, suspect menus and, of course, food chains. We rather think your clients will, too. Welcome to their world.

A comic classic first seen in The Sun newspaper in 1978 where it was enjoyed for eight years. There are a total of 2,238 strips, which incorporate 9 stories.

JEFF HAWKE Sydney Jordan
Jeff Hawke is a British science fiction comic strip created by Sydney Jordan. and since 1955 it has been regarded as one of the most important science fiction comics ever released, gaining considerable popularity in Italy, Sweden, Spain and throughout Europe. Sydney Jordan was a graduate of the Aeronautical Technical School in Reading. He long sought to draw a fantastic comic where he could exploit his skills in drawing aeroplanes. In 1955 he met Eric Souster and Jim Gilbert in London, two friends with whom he had served in the R.A.F. Together they created the character of Jeff Hawke. At first Jeff Hawke, presented as an ex-R.A.F. pilot (just like Jordan) was a rather ordinary, Flash Gordon-like heroic character. The plots were centred around ordinary adventure and science fiction themes common in pulp comics and fiction of the age, and at this stage the drawings were only of average quality. Nevertheless the strip was good enough to be published exclusively in the Daily Express and the stories and drawing matured into a sensational and enduring continuity strip series. Later William Patterson joined the group of creators, at first producing only plot lines and then he began to write characters as well for some time. However Jordan ultimately took care of both stories and drawings and he devoted himself entirely to Jeff Hawke for over twenty years.

Judge Dredd is amongst the UK’s best known comic characters. Judge Dredd was named the Seventh Greatest Comic Character by the British magazine Empire. In 2011, IGN ranked him 35th in the Top 100 Comic Book Heroes..

Dredd is an American law enforcement ofďŹ cer in a violent city of the future where uniformed Judges are empowered to arrest, sentence, and execute criminals at the scene of crime. The character was created by writer John Wagner and artist Carlos Ezquerra, although editor Pat Mills also deserves some credit for early development.
