High Desert High Desert yarn colorways are inspired by the rich flora and majestic physical geography of the American West. Big Sagebrush and native grasses in rock-studded fields serve as the rangeland for rugged Rambouillet Merino sheep. Bred for the High Desert environment, this fiber is warm and hard-wearing, which makes for heirloom quality knits.
Farmed throughout the American West, our High Desert yarn is processed in South Carolina, dyed and milled in North Carolina, and then shipped to our warehouse in Ohio before being sent to our customers all over the world.

Knit Picks' responsible manufacturing promise
OUR PERUVIAN PARTNERS At Knit Picks, we believe in the power of handmade—the ability to transform a humble skein of yarn into countless possibilities. Our hands-on approach starts from the beginning of the manufacturing chain. Our Peruvian partners have the highest values of sustainability and a focus on community which is evident in their work. Their dedication to their flocks, shepherds, and sustainable practices are woven into the yarns that are sold to you.

HERDSMAN Our partners in Peru are dedicated to promoting suitable living accommodations for their alpaca herdsman. The alpaca producers spend their lives in some of the country's most remote locations, at extremely high elevations. Our partners have developed comfortable ecological housing, made from locally-obtained materials, equipped with state of the art facilities such as solar power, running water, an environmentally-friendly sewage system, and plant nurseries. These cottages are also built on the herdsman's land, as an investment between partners.
1.800.574.1323 www.knitpicks.com | 19
COMMITMENT TO THE ANIMALS Over the past 20 years, our Peruvian partners have been conducting a comprehensive heritability study on their flocks. Through this study, they have compiled the world's widest and most complete database on alpaca breeding, which improves the overall health of their flocks and ensures proper care based on genetics. Additionally, the innovative shearing technique they perfected has improved the yields of their annual alpaca shearing operation while enhancing the wellbeing of the animal and increasing safety for the shearing team. This method of shearing has now been adopted as the official national standard for Peru, which has positively impacted all animals in the region.

City Tweed A buttery-yet-strong Merino wool and alpaca base with neutral Donegal neps, City Tweed is perfect for a smart, lush take on traditional designs. This yarn begins with superfine alpaca and Merino fibers dyed two different colors, which are then blended together to make a subtly rich, lustrous heather. Donegal is a series of viscose neps (think slubs or bits of lint) that are suspended in a very fine acrylic mesh, which allows them to be spun alongside the longer alpaca and Merino fibers. The high ratio of neps gives City Tweed a traditional appeal to modern and classic designs. DK & Aran/HW | 55% Merino wool, 25% Superfine alpaca, 20% Donegal tweed. DK: $6.99/50g ball - 123 yds. Easy Care Yarns Our favorite wool and acrylic yarns wear beautifully and wash easily. Just pop your project in the washing machine for a refresh, and save your time and attention for more knitting!
Superwash yarns are wool fibers that have been treated in a way that makes them less likely to felt in the wash. This usually happens in one of two ways—the wool is treated in a bath that removes the scales of each fiber or the fiber is coated to smooth the scales, which prevents them from clinging together.

If you're using DPNs, and the beginning of the round is where it switches from one needle to the next, you can't put a marker on the needle itself (it will just fall off), so putting a removable marker in the knitting will help keep track of where the beginning is." -Lee, Knit Picks Graphic Designer

1
Fixed Circulars These needle tips are permanently connected to non-kinking cables of specific length—useful in smaller gauge projects that don’t accommodate Interchangeable needle construction, or for large, flat knit projects.
2
Straight Needles These traditional knitting needles are elegant and simple, tried and true. For basic flat knitting, sometimes the classics are the best. Available in 2 colorways and 26 sizes | Shown in Sunstruck, starts at $6.69.
Available in 5 colorways and 40 sizes | Shown in Sunstruck, starts at $7.89.
3
Double Pointed Needles Featuring tapered points at both ends for a classic solution to circular knitting and especially for small circumference projects, like socks. Available in 4 colorways and 22 sizes | Shown in Radiant, starts at $7.99.
4

Interchangeable Circulars The foundation of the modern knitter’s toolbox. Detachable needle tips and cables interchange to form a wide range of gauges and lengths on demand. Available in 7 colorways and 13 sizes | Shown in Cocobolo {85272} and Radiant, starts at $7.99.
Foursquare Tips They’re a little different and a lot of fun! We took the same smooth, laminated birch as our popular Majestic needles and squared them. The slightly rounded corners provide a comfortable extra grip for your fingers and yarn, helping to keep your hands limber and your stitches even. We love these needles for beginner or "tight" knitters as their unique shape helps keep stitches loose and even. Available in 1 colorway | Shown in Majestic. Tips start at $7.99.
HOW TO ASSEMBLE:
1
Thread needle tip onto cable; twist to screw together.
2
Insert cable key into hole in the metal cable end.
3
Grasp cable key and turn to tighten the needle tip.
Waves of Color Whether you love the waves of color in our laminated birch needles or the slick surface of nickel, or you're looking for a specialty wood, we have everything you need to knit happy!
With hundreds of variations at your fingertips, the perfect needle for any project in the perfect length is always available from our line of Options Interchangeable tips and cables. Buy pieces individually, or save when you purchase a full interchangeable set. If laminated birch needles are your style, we have 5 vibrant colorways to choose from. The smooth, burnished surface of our wood needles are perfectly balanced with just the right amount of grip, which works wonders for working with slick fibers like mohair, silk, and angora. Plus, birch wood is one of the most sustainable wood species, in addition to being extremely strong, durable, and fine grained. Our birch needles are an easy choice when adding to your tool collection! Available in 5 colorways and 13 sizes. Tips starts at $7.99, sets start at $59.99.

Add a splash of color to your knitting with Prism Needles! Our lightweight aluminum needles feature the same sharp points, flexible cables, and smooth joins as our other Options Interchangeable needles.
