Winner of the 2020 Grand National F100 Show
Chris Jacobs is a host and television personality best known for his automotive makeover show Overhaulin’ which premiered in 2004, and the hit TLC series Long Lost Family which debuted in 2016. He also serves as lead host for the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auctions and as co-host of SEMA Live, both seen on Motor Trend Network. Jacobs was born and raised in the north suburbs of Chicago. In 1988 he made the move to California where he earned a degree in English from Whittier College and then a JD from Western State College of Law. After passing the 1995 California Bar Exam on his first try, his education was complete. It was then that he decided to pursue his dream of making it in the entertainment industry. For eight years he achieved moderate success in the Hollywood, finding roles in numerous movies and television shows as well as dozens of commercials. But it was in 2003 when he received his first big break, landing the hosting job on Overhaulin’. His first ever job as a host, Jacobs quickly realized that this was his comfort zone. He was much better suited at being a host than he was as an actor. Overhaulin’ quickly became the most popular show in the
automotive world, with legions of faithful fans tuning in every week. The success of the show was largely due to the talents of design legend Chip Foose and the easy going chemistry between Chip and Chris. Over the next 10 plus years and more than 100 episodes, Overhaulin’ has become one of the most venerable shows in the genre. The exposure Chris received from Overhaulin’ opened many doors in the hosting world. Chris proved that he could host a variety of shows, including a 4 year run in the entertainment news world, where he served as a host and correspondent for The Insider and Entertainment Tonight from 2009-2012. He also has experience in radio, serving as a regular co-host for two years on the motorsports show SpeedFreaks. Because of his popularity and familiarity on the network, Chris has become Discovery Channel’s go-to host for special events. He lent his hosting skills to such specials as Discover Live: Into the Blue Hole, Chopper Live, Gold Rush Live, Klondike Live and the ratings record breaking Nik Wallenda specials Skywire Live and Skyscraper Live. Chris is also the Host for the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auctions, seen 4 times a year on both Motor Trend and Discovery, and serves as host of Motor Trend Live at the annual SEMA convention in Las Vegas. He also worked extensively for NFL Network, hosting several episodes of NFL AM and regularly contributing as an on-air news host. Chris is an avid sports fan, especially teams from his hometown of Chicago, and has been honored to throw out the first pitch at Wrigley Field for his beloved Cubs. Chris likes to spend his downtime golfing, sporting a single digit handicap

SE XYC U RV ESVS P UR EMUSCL E When you go to any car show or auction, cars that are gorgeous and have lots of horsepower attract the most attention. The rare ones get even more notice, and in most cases this all translates into greater market value. All the horsepower in the world won’t make a car worth seven figures if it is aesthetically challenged and built in large numbers. And let’s face it: We’d all rather be surrounded by things of beauty. I am not talking about wives, girlfriends and children here. First impressions count for a lot, particularly with cars. A sleek and well-detailed nose is a great place to start. Three examples that come to mind are a Series 1 E-Type Jaguar, 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray or a 1940 Ford. Those pleasing front views invite the eye to look further. A Chrysler Airflow or an Edsel is much more polarizing and likely to have as many detractors as fans, despite their many other merits. So beauty really does sell. As you move on from the nose, flow is important. Both the E-Type and the Sting Ray have incredibly sleek lines that move
organically from the nose to the flank, to the haunches and on to the tail. They are considered styling masterworks, and the original, purest iterations are the ones in demand. I would argue that the closed versions of both are the most visually successful. Yet, with very few exceptions, the convertibles of these iconic cars carry a significantly higher value in the market because, as they say, “When the top goes down, the price goes up.” Of course, some coupes are so gorgeous that they negate the appeal of a convertible, and the Lincoln Zephyr three-window coupe is a perfect example of a car where coupe and convertible values are very close. This isn’t to say that the closed version of a car is always more beautiful. No Auburn sedan or coupe can come close to matching the visual allure and market value of the speedster, which is the clear winner in beauty and value. The same is true for the extraordinarily rare Ferrari 275 GTB/4 NART Spider, of which only 10 were built. A chop-top version of the
275 GTB Berlinetta, the NART Spider is mind-blowing in its beauty and trades for three to four times the value of the original coupe. The 1959 Cadillac Eldorado is valued much more highly as a convertible, thanks to its long, sleek and soaring fins with spectacular detailing. While the Eldorado coupe is just as striking and was built in smaller numbers, it is in far less demand and, as a result, sells for far less. One high-volume car I think has a prettier convertible than coupe is the original 1964½ through 1966 Ford Mustang. While the coupe is attractive by any standard, the sleeker look of the convertible boosts it to the next level and helps to keep the prices of open cars higher. I will say the same for the first generation Thunderbird. Although the hardtop is a great option, the sleek look without the top makes the convertible the hands-down winner in aesthetics. Sometimes when a convertible is involved, the value is boosted just because people love open-air motoring, not because the open version is more aesthetically pleasing. With competition cars, though, all bets are off. Take a pair of important Ferraris: the 250 GTO and 250 Testa Rossa (TR). They are both powerful, fast, beautiful and very successful on the track. Both are eligible for all kinds of vintage races and rallies, yet the closed GTO is worth more than twice as much as the TR. So while many closed cars may be considered more pleasing to the eye, open cars are often viewed as more pleasing to the heart, thus driving values upward. Of course, there will always be exceptions, particularly in the case of competition cars, which is one of the reasons why I find this market so fascinating. Scottie D
As Seen on Scottie DTV You Tube Channel. Ever year I invite twelve Cars to be in the ScottieDTV Dirty Dozen at the Spring Pigeon Forge Rod Run How did a guy from Ohio come to put his roots in East Tennessee and become a Youtube success and champion for Knoxville? After his time in the service, he met a gal from Alabama and married her. When they were deciding where to make their life, they pulled out a map and Knoxville was pretty much in between his family in Ohio and hers in Alabama. That decision led to his divine Intervention moment after living in East Tennessee for over 18 years. Scottie’s close friend kept “beating him up” about doing dual purpose videos and stills of Hot Rods. Contrary to what you’re thinking- no Scottie did not have a videographer background, he had been in the mortgage business for over 25 years! Hot Rods and food were just his passion. And on that fateful Saturday his friend was calling to hound him yet again, to which Scottie almost didn’t take the call.
But luckily for us he did! His friend told him about Youtube and how they were paying for videos, etc., so now was the time to strike. The next morning, Scottie sat straight up in bed with his ah-ha moment- Scottie D TV- Cooking & Hot Rods! And so his passion for food and cars put him on his path. But it was not an easy one. No start up income, no formal background training; just a 40+yr old guy & an eye for cars began his new adventure. It was a struggle to say the least He lived on someone’s farm, tethering to their slow Internet or going to Hardee’s to hook up to theirs to upload videos. After about 2 years, he realized people were more interested in Hot Rods than the cooking, so his focus switched to just amazing cars, and those who build and own them. “I have been Blessed to do what I love and get to make a difference
in people’s lives” Scottie admits. But how does videoing a Hot Rod help someone? ScottieD says “You have no idea how many people have been brought to tears or told me that it meant so much to them to have me shoot their car or their work. Many have said “No one paid attention to my car before and now look at all the likes and comments it’s gotten.” It’s validation for all the hard work, time and money spent on their own passion. There have been a few that hold a place in my heart such as Tribute builds I’ve been honored to video. And even one that involves a good friend of mine here in Knoxville, Steve at Pro Auto. A soldier in Afghanistan had called asking him to work on the interior of his truck, and of course Steve said sure and that was that. Well, apparently he’s a big fan of ScottieDTV.com and had seen builds from Steve on my channel. His fellow soldiers in Afghanistan had also and didn’t believe Steve would actually be doing work on his truck, that Steve would only work on highend builds. They must have been giving him down the road pretty hard because the next thing we knew, Steve had called me saying the soldier had flown in just to have his picture taken with us and get our autographs! That’s one of those moments that just hit you! ScottieDTV now has over 1800 videos, 120,000 subscribers, over 1.5 million views a month and is watched in over 250 countries worldwide! Because of his “passion”, he has found success doing what he loves. It’s never work when you love what you’re doing! ScottieDTV is a YouTube channel that was started 5/17/2010...The goal of this channel is to show you the coolest cars on the web!!!! Scottie D has a knack of finding just the right cars on his travels around the USA.

The Art of the Smokies
The Great Smoky Mountains are home to some of the most spectacular natural beauty in the world! One of our favorite ways to take in the area’s incredible scenery is on a Smoky Mountain or Gatlinburg motor trail. To help you make the most of your next trip, Hushh Magazine has put together a guide to the top four scenic drives in the Great Smoky Mountains.
1
ROARING FORK MOTOR NATURE TRAIL The Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is located just minutes away from downtown Gatlinburg! Running along a gorgeous mountain stream, this 5.5-mile one-way loop road is filled with lovely scenery. Highlights of this Gatlinburg motor trail include historic log cabins, beautiful foliage (especially in the fall), the trailheads for popular hikes, and a wet weather waterfall. The Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is closed during the winter months. Photo: Bridge on Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail | by hugsRgood

FOOTHILLS PARKWAY WEST The Foothills Parkway West at sunset.Foothills Parkway West is a 17-mile road between Chilhowee Lake and Walland that offers unparalleled mountain views. The Parkway features several pull-offs and a half-mile paved hike to Look Rock Tower. Recently, the Foothills Parkway has expanded an additional 16 miles to reach Wears Valley, which is just outside of Gatlinburg. The extended Foothills Parkway will provide a one-of-a-kind look at the highest part of the mountains in the eastern United States. This is the perfect Smoky Mountain scenic drive!

NEWFOUND GAP ROAD Breathtaking mountain views from Newfound Gap Road. Newfound Gap Road is another one of the most popular scenic drives in Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains. Stretching from Gatlinburg, TN to Cherokee, NC, this 31.6mile Gatlinburg scenic drive offers superb mountain views. The Gatlinburg scenic drive along Newfound Gap Road has often been compared to a trip from Georgia to Maine in terms of the variety of forest ecosystems you will pass through. Some of the can’t-miss stops along Newfound Gap Road include Campbell Overlook, Clingmans Dome Road, and the Rockefeller Memorial (where FDR dedicated the national park in 1940).

CADES COVE LOOP ROAD Cades Cove is the most-visited area of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and it’s easy to see why! This breathtaking valley is famous for its mountain views, historic homesteads, and excellent wildlife viewing. With its wide open spaces, Cades Cove provides the ideal environment for spotting black bear, wild turkey, whitetailed deer, and other critters. The 11-mile one-way loop road passes by all of the 19th-century cabins and other points of interest in the valley. The Cades Cove Loop is one of the most popular Smoky Mountain scenic drives!
PHOTO TIPS: • Foggy days, rainy days and snowy days offer some of the best opportunities to capture the beauty of the Smokies. Pack appropriate clothing, protection for your camera gear and spend the day in the midst of the incredible beauty of the Appalachians! • Always arrive at your sunrise spot at least 30 minutes before the actual set time for sunrise and stay at least 30 minutes after sunset. The best color and light is often seen just as the light begins to hit the horizon or after the light from the sun setting spreads out to the clouds. • Don’t forget to experience the moment. Some days, well most days, won’t picture perfect. However, there is beauty and magic to be found in every day when you’re in the Smokies. Take time to truly soak up the experience and you’ll probably even spot a sliver of beauty to photograph. • Respect other park visitors, wildlife and federal laws in place by the national park. The park requires that all guests stay at least 150 feet away from wildlife.

The state’s world-class dining scene, famous Appalachian Mountain range and diverse cities also make it a particularly interesting place to call home. Every year, scores of professionals, students and retirees move to Tennessee. THE TAXES ARE LOW One of the most practical reasons to move to Tennessee is that residents do not have to pay state income tax on salaries or wages. Keep in mind, though, that there is currently a flat tax imposed on all income from interest from bonds and dividends from stock. However, according to the Chattanooga Times Free Press, this tax will be completely phased out within the next year or so. The newspaper reports that “the state Legislature agreed in 2016 to start phasing out the Hall income tax, with its total elimination beginning Jan. 1, 2021.” In addition to having little to no state income tax, residents also pay very low property taxes. According to SmartAsset, the state has some of the lowest property taxes in the U.S. THE COST OF LIVING IS IDEAL Low property taxes and no state income tax are just two reasons why you can afford to live in Tennessee comfortably. Residents of the Volunteer State also enjoy an overall low cost of living on everyday goods and services. According to BestPlaces, the cost of living index score for Tennessee is 87.6, well below the national average. Home prices are exceptionally affordable, compared to many other parts of the country. The median home price in the state is $164,500. Even large cities, such as Nashville and Memphis, have relatively affordable home prices. The median list price in Nashville is $349,900 and the median list price in Memphis is $150,000.

Collector & Classic Car Insurance
What is classic car insurance? Whether you lovingly rebuilt your antique auto or classic car from the ground up or you bought a perfectly restored showpiece, it’s much more than a car to you. It’s your passion, your pride and joy. Unlike a new vehicle, antique car appreciates in value, so its insurance differs. State Farm® can help protect it. We’ve offered competitively-priced quality auto insurance coverage since 1922. When your antique car was new, it may have been covered by State Farm. Who better to insure it again? Insuring a classic car is different than insuring a regular car because regular car insurance isn’t enough to cover against damage or loss for such unique cars. To properly cover a vintage or exotic car, you need a classic car policy to cover your vehicle’s unique value. Unlike regular car insurance, a classic car policy may have limits on mileage, use and storage among other things. In addition there may be qualifications the driver must meet such as age, experience, driving record and access to additional cars.
Your antique or classic car must also meet these conditions:
To be eligible for classic car insurance, your vehicle must fit one of the following definitions:
•Limited use: Your antique or classic vehicle should only be used on a very limited basis driven 2500 miles per year or less for shows, exhibitions, club activities or parades. •Condition: The car (generally) must be restored, maintained and preserved in its original condition, or undergoing a restoration. Some insurers may decline if the vehicle is not in excellent condition. •Storage: It’s required that you store your vehicle in an enclosed building.
•Classic car: A vehicle 10 to 24 years old that has historic interest (e.g., a hot rod or muscle car). •Antique car: A vehicle 25 or more years old that has historic interest.
When you choose antique or classic car insurance with us, you and State Farm will agree on the value of the car. If the car experiences a total covered loss, we’ll pay the agreed-upon

State Farm® Collector Car
The Split Camaro The Vehicle Research team at State Farm has taken training to a one-of-a-kind level, by building a “Split Camaro.” A 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS convertible was built as a half-and-half, split-personality car for training purposes. The idea of the car came to life in 2005, to create two training aids: a fully restored vehicle and a modified vehicle. The restored side in yellow was built back to its factory specifications, with a few minor modifications used as teaching points. The modified side in red represents what a person might build in their garage at home, with inexact repairs and plans to drive and enjoy the car.
In addition to serving as an eyecatching car-show display piece, this car was built by State Farm employees who enjoy restoring cars and have fun working on them, both personally and professionally. Antique and Classic automobiles are insured on an agreed value basis, meaning that the insured and State Farm agree on the value of the car in the event of a total loss. Watch this video with Jay Leno to see the opportunity State Farm’s Earl Hyser had to illustrate the impact of modifications on insurance rates and vehicle value. Have you ever wondered how Harley-Davidson bikes became the American icons they are today? The story began in a small shed in Milwaukee back in the early 1900s. After drawing up plans for a small engine designed to fit on a regular bike frame, William S. Harley worked with Arthur and Walter Davidson to build this “motor-bicycle.” They finished the first model in 1903. While the test was mostly successful, the bike was unable to climb hills without the rider providing pedaling assistance.
An Amerian Icon
1905 Automobile and Cycle Trade Journal. Just four months later, the motorcycles were in production. That first year, five bikes were produced – three of which were sold by the first Harley-Davidson dealer, Carl H. Lang of Chicago. By 1906, Harley and the Davidson brothers were moving out of their shed and into their first factory, which was located at the current site of Harley-Davidson headquarters. They produced 50 motorcycles during their first year in the factory – ten times more than the year before. Within one year of building their first factory, they were already preparing to expand it with a second floor. In September, Harley-Davidson officially incorporated. They produced 150 motorcycles in 1907 and began selling them to police departments.
Now that they had a working model, bare Harley-Davidson engines were listed in the January

But Harley and the Davidson brothers did not give up. They immediately began working on a new and improved machine. They created a bigger engine and loopframe design. features and designs were constantly being introduced. The factory was expanded several times to keep up with the ever-growing demand for Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Harley-Davidson has played an important role in American history as well. The company produced over 20,000 motorcycles for the US military during World War I. And as one of only two American motorcycle companies to survive the Great Depression, HarleyDavidson also played an important part in World War II. The company produced over 90,000 motorcycles for use in the war. Harley-Davidson was awarded two Army-Navy “E” Awards for Excellence in Production, in honor of their efforts during the war. Over 115 years, Harley-Davidson has grown from its humble beginnings to an American icon. But no matter how many things have changed over the years, one thing has always remained the same – Harley-Davidson’s commitment to producing a high quality, innovative bike.
