For the purpose of this analysis, vacant lots are defined as land parcels with no permanent built structures. Vacant lots that are currently being used by the neighborhood as informal parking lots are not counted in this study. Vacant lots were determined using field observation and online tools: https://opendurham.nc.gov, www.zillow.com, and Durham GoMaps (maps2.roktech.net/durhamnc_gomaps/#).
