VTEKS, Istanbul Home Textile Exhibition, organized by the CNR International Trade Fairs Inc., an affiliate of the CNR Holding, in collaboration with the Association for Turkish Home Textile Industrialists and Businessmen (TETSIAD), took place between 16-20 May 2012 at the CNR Expo Center in Istanbul. The fair opened its door on May 16 for 5 days and hosted approximately 1,000 exhibitor companies together with 119,000 visitors. More than 130 foreign companies from US, Europe and the Near East countries including Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Belgium, England, Greece, Sweden, US, India, Russia, Azerbaijan, Portugal, Pakistan, Syria, Iran, the Netherlands, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Austria, Lebanon, Moldova involved the
exhibition with their latest products during EVTEKS. Evteks is more popular than other home textile shows around the world like home textile in Russia or Frankfurt, especially for traders, visitors and distributor in middle east, Iran, UAE ... because for middle eastern countries doing business with Turkey is easier than European countries and they can see a big range of design, high quality fabrics and colors under one roof, also a big problem for some countries like Iran for going to Europe is a Visa problem and also high travel cost, so many managers and traders prefer working with Turkish companies because going to Turkey has many benefit for them, it is cheap, easy travel in a short distance and same culture of work and business.
During EVTEKS purchasers made new orders of more than 1 billion dollars. With the commercial added value it created, EVTEKS is among the most important expert exhibitions worldwide. The world keeps a close eye on the fair due to its popularity in terms of the variety of exhibited products, the new trends of the textile industry presented and the density of the trade relationships generated by the participants both as visitors and exhibitors. As being the 4th biggest home textile supplier in the world and having the 5% share of the world›s market in the industry, Turkey set itself an export objective of 10 billion USD for the year of 2023.
