The Club at Briarcliff Manor Senior Living Community Briarcliff Manor, NY
The Club at Briarcliff Manor was designed to epitomize luxurious senior living. Located on the former campus of The Kings College and the Walter Law Estate in Briarcliff Manor, two high-rise buildings (9 and 10 stories), connected at the terrace and first floor levels, offer convenient living options: 168 Independent Living units, 87 Assisted Living units, and 32 Memory Support units. Amenities include a dining room, theater, salon, fitness room, library, and café–all within one of the largest and most advanced facilities of its kind in the New York area. Kohler Ronan contributed MEP/FP and technology design for this 345,000 square-foot facility. An emergency generator was designed to support life safety systems and to accommodate standby loads such as heating, commercial kitchen equipment, and support spaces. Additionally, mechanical systems include vertical packaged heat pumps which allow for individual control of heating and cooling, ensuring the residents’ thermal comfort in all seasons. A dedicated outside air unit with energy recovery delivers conditioned ventilation to occupied spaces, while a combination of variable-flow refrigerant units and central station air handling units (with air cooled condensing units) serve the common spaces throughout the complex. From a central plant, condensing gas-fired boilers and domestic water heaters provide heating, hot water, and domestic hot water throughout the facility.
