Jewish Senior Services
The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Campus Bridgeport, Connecticut
On the site of the former Jewish Center for Community Services in Bridgeport, Connecticut, now stands The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Campus. The state-ofthe-art, 366,000 square-foot senior living facility accommodates over 300 residents across six four-story houses connected to a larger building providing community and common areas. Featuring a Household Model, the facility is the first and only skilled nursing and assisted living facility of its kind in the state. Kohler Ronan’s engineering team designed comprehensive mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems in support of the facility and its many functions. Among the project’s engineering challengers was achieving numerous and varied environmental conditions necessitated by the multiple programs (commercial kitchens, commercial laundry, natatorium, multi-purpose rooms, and residential units) located within the building. Further, the entire complex was designed to have full emergency backup power in the event of a grid power failure.
