Komptech secures option for plant manufacturer WTT Frohnleiten (A)/ Almelo (NL) – The Komptech group, specialists in the treatment of solid waste and biomass and headquartered in Frohnleiten (Austria), is continuing its expansion course, securing a majority shareholding option in Dutch plant manufacturer Waste Treatment Technologies B.V. (WTT). By doing so, the European market leader is expanding its expertise in the stationary technology sector for the biological treatment of solid waste. Having started in 2003 with the construction of the mechanical-biological waste treatment plant in Frohnleiten, the cooperation between the Austrian machine manufacturer and the Dutch plant manufacturer is set to intensify with this move. “We are broadening our expertise in stationary technology in the field of biological treatment of waste“, says Komptech founder and Managing Director Josef Heissenberger, addressing the core competences of WTT closed plants for anaerobic treatment and fermentation systems. The two companies are currently cooperating in the building of a tunnel composting system in Wrexham (Great Britain) with a total volume of around €9m. “The comprehensive Komptech sales network provides us with the opportunity of winning further projects across the whole of Europe“, says WTT Managing Director Berthil Lubbers, raising other synergies of the cooperation. The Dutch plant manufacturer is set to post a turnover of about €14m for the current financial year. Future markets for WTT are in Western Europe, Great Britain and Italy in particular, but the company has already been successful in winning its first projects in Eastern Europe. “In the future we can expect strong demand in the fermentation system sector in particular as a result of increased demand for renewable energy sources“, adds Heissenberger on the future plans for the two companies. The Komptech group is headquartered in Frohnleiten (Austria) and posted a total turnover of around €85m in financial year 2009, 80 percent of which was achieved in Central and Western Europe. The USA, Australia, Iran and Japan represent other key markets for the environmental technology specialists.
