Press release Konica Minolta continues on its green path Langenhagen, Germany, August 2012 Imaging expert Konica Minolta’s ambitious Eco Vision 2050 aims to substantially reduce CO2 emissions by 2050, actively engage in optimised resource utilisation and strongly support biodiversity. These large-scale targets are accompanied by minor moves. In June 2012 a battery-powered company car with a charging station was taken into service in Langenhagen, while optimisation of the IT server infrastructure has almost halved power consumption over the past two and a half years. Konica Minolta takes a comprehensive approach when it comes to ecological sustainability. Eco Vision 2050 was transferred into a viable Medium Term Environmental Plan 2015. Its achievements are regularly covered in the company’s CSR Report. Along with these achievements, smaller-scale activities also testify to Konica Minolta’s green credentials. By investing in the first type of battery-powered car in Europe that is suitable for everyday use Konica Minolta aims to support carbon emission reduction innovations even outside its immediate business remit. The Opel Ampera has won many awards, including Car of the Year 2012. Also, the electric power consumption of the IT server infrastructure at Langenhagen has been reduced significantly – by about 45% – over the past two and a half years. This reduction was achieved by virtualising the servers, although the total number of managed servers and data storage volumes are growing continuously. “We at Konica Minolta are working continuously to reduce our overall environmental impact, certainly that of our products but also company-wide, even beyond our core business,” says Sandra Luttert, Environmental Product Manager, International Marketing Division, at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe.
