Aussie Rural Life Explore a seemingly endless rural station on horseback. Learn to rope cattle or shear a sheep. And raise a glass of fine wine to a sunset like none you’ve ever seen before. Enjoy warm, luxurious hospitality on an Australian homestead, along with hearty meals prepared from the fresh produce of the land.

Arkaba A Wild Bush Luxury experience at Arkaba goes beyond an outback Australian safari

Within the Australian context the words ‘cattle station’ conjure a very special image

It’s not only witnessing an ancient environment in recovery, by joining this fully hosted all-inclusive experience you’re actively participating in its revival. 600 million years of geological history echo through the stratified layers of Wilpena Pound and the Elder Range, providing spectacular backdrops throughout your safari experience. You have 60,000 acres of privately owned and carefully protected outback to explore in the company of no more than 10 guests. You're treading land where Adnyamathanha people, the first Australians of the Flinders Ranges have walked for tens of thousands of years. A place where sandstone bluffs mingle with ancient creek beds dotted with monumental River Red Gums watching your every move.

It involves hot thirsty plains, teeming wildlife, bronzed rivers, a vast sky and dusty stock camps, where horses and stock skills are very much alive – and Bullo River Station fits like a glove. Pristine landscape, carved with gorges, decorated with waterfalls and defined by the Victoria and Bullo rivers, make Bullo River Station one of the most breathtakingly beautiful cattle stations. Set on 202,343 hectares (500,000 acres) of privately owned countryside, this vast property is home to around 4,000 Brahman-cross cattle, as well as a stunning variety of local fauna species including wallabies, dingoes, buffalo, native and migratory birds, fish and crocodiles.

The supremely comfortable five room Arkaba Homestead is your base. Hosted dinners while sharing stories with field guides and fellow guests provides an atmosphere more akin to staying with friends in the country or a private safari lodge than a typical luxury hotel. Rates include gourmet meals, beverages and a twice-daily guided safaris.

If New Zealand’s landscape were a Hollywood starlet, it would undoubtedly be a drama queen. From snowcapped mountains and rocky coasts to lush rainforests and active volcanoes, almost every eye-popping landscape imaginable is packed into a country roughly the size of the U.S. state of Colorado. From the moment you get off the plane, you will be itching to explore.

Then drift to sleep beneath crisp linens in a luxurious country inn, lulled by crashing surf and whispering winds. New Zealand is also home to the Maori, whose influence is visible in everything from musical place names to the sinuous carvings that embellish many public buildings. Thrill to a traditional welcome ceremony at a Maori cultural village and share in a “hangi” feast of chicken and sweet potatoes. That’s not the only spectacular meal you will enjoy in New Zealand. Savour the country’s world-famous lamb, fine cheeses and luscious produce in a sleek restaurant in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch. Explore the gentle charms of these human-scaled cities.
