hildren of Blood and Bone is a tale of, triumph, perseverance and self-discovery, with fantasy, magic and West African customs with every page flip. Set in a mystical adaptation of Africa. 24 year old Nigerian-American author Tomi Adeyemi, created a story and setting that is completley afrocentric. The book follows a girl, Zelie, who after witnessing her mother killed at the orders of the king, is on a mission from the gods to bring back magic to her people. Zelie reluctantly takes the task but, in doing so, meets chracters who she has to learn to trust, including her own abilities. Adeyemi recieved one of the biggest book deals in history. Children of Blood and Bone is the first of a trilogy and is has been picked up by Fox to be adapted to the big screen. Anticipation of the film and remaining parts of the trilogy is growing. We recommend that you catch up and read the book for yourself.

Flava’ in ya Ear “Here comes the brand new flavor in ya ear” RIP Craig Mack

We’re back again with the new Fla-

va’ In Ya Ear. There is an enormous amount of music spanning across genres that are available for all to indulge in. So much, that it’s very possible to miss out on true talent. Here is where we highlight artists that you should listen to if they’re not already in your rotation.

Maxo Kream When you think of hip-hop in Houston you may think of artists like the Scarface, Slim Thug, Paul Wall, and a few others. There aren’t really many new names besides Travis Scott that come to mind. Maxo Kream is soon to be a name on a lot of radars. Instead of heavily chopped and screwed variations, the Houston native is bringing a refreshing, but familiar sound. His album title is Punken, a name that his grandmother calls him. Throughout the album Maxo references his family members and his childhood, revealing personal moments like stealing his uncles AK (“Work”). The verbal flashbacks help the album keep its cohesiveness. His southern gangsta raps along with tales of family life makes Punken captivating, entertaining, and a perfect introduction to Maxo Kream. Listen to Flava in Ya Ear Playlist on Koolthoughtsmag.com

Chidish Major A South Carolina native, but an ATLien in his own right, Childish Major is working to be one of the newest artist that continues to solidify Atlanta as the number one city that produces music. Starting out as a producer, Childish Major, has production credits for songs like Rocko’s “UOENO,” and J. Cole’s “4 Your Eyez Only.” Jeezy, J.I.D, and 6lack are a few other artists that Childish Major has produced for. It wasn’t until this past year that, he decided to step from behind the boards and into the booth. His debut project, Woo$ah, is a great transiton from producer to artist. Childish sounds comfortable behind the mic as he gives us collection of vibes that reflect on a variety his experiences.

Vitctory Boyd Victory Boyd is an internet sensation who was discovered singing in Central Park with her nine siblings. Her park performances, plus her Youtube videos gained Victory millions of views and a spot on the Roc Nation roster. Her acoustic versions of Stevie Wonder’s “Overjoyed” caught the attention of many including Jay-Z himself. Her debut EP, It’s a New Daw was released early March. Victory’s voice is pure and modest, but robust. The EP is a short list of covers an orginals, some of which she has done acoustically. Songs like Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good” gets a new spin on it. Victory also displays his her songwriting abilities on songs like, “Believe in Love.” Victory is an artist whose own legacy can potentially be an extention of the tapestry of the musically greats before her.

Jaye Newton Atlanta is an endless pool of talent stretching across all industries and platforms. The city has dominated the music scene and continues to produce new artists that make waves in the industry. Jaye Newton is an ATL native that is mastering the blend of rap and r&b. His latest EP, Real Men Wear Pink featured him crooning over some tracks and dropping bars on others. An A3C veteran, Jaye Newton is was bound to be a performer, his first experience the spotlight was at an elementary school talent show. Fast forward to the present he is still putting on a great show. I recently seen him perform and songs like “Shoot Your Shot” and “Salsa With Ya Mama” easily won the crowd over. Get acquainted with the young brother and his music now.

Dani Leigh Dani Leigh is a gorgeous artist whose journey in the music industry has had some peculiar stops. She recieved notoriety for directing a music video (“Breakfast Can Wait”) for the late Prince in 2016, who ultimately took the singer and dancer under his wing. A year later she releases her album, Summer With Friends. A timely album about chasing money, dreams, with a little romance in between. Summer with Friends is trapped out R&B for the long summer nights featuring songs like “Play” featuring Kap G and “All I Know.” Being one of, if not the last artist to impress the likes of Prince could be considered the peak of a career for some. For Dani Leigh it only marked the beginning.

Digital privacy is an increasing worry for the general public. Security breaches or the mishandling of

Strongbox locks away identity specific code in an isolated area in your device, making it more difficult for anyone to tamper with. Along with making sure you private information is more secure, Android and Google are also making your phone more efficient and user friendly. Have you ever found yourself just aimlessly scrolling through the apps on your phone? If we’re not face planting into our devices, we’re looking for a charger to keep them alive. Android P is looking to optimize the time you do spend on your phone and make your phone less of a distraction and more of a tool.
