This addition is unarticulated in relation to the sensitive spatial issues of Coolsingel. The mass is occupying the “air of the Generale Bank building, and compromises the monumental entrance formation to stadhuisplein.

Maintain the monumental entrance to Stadhuisplein. Potential for highrise (60 - 70 m.) at Coolsingel - Kruiskade corner.
The buidling is a transition from large (Koolsingel) to small scale (Krusikade)
Minimum intervention on Stadhuisplein, that does not disrupt the existing buildings’ boundary lines.

KRUISKADE VIEW The housing complex on top of the building provides Kruiskade with the warm and relaxed feeling of a neiborhood. The apartments’ “eyes” on the street increase the feeling of safety in the urban environment. The green terraces add to the overall improvement of city life, both for tenants and passers-by. Last but not least, the theatrical feeling of “to see and be seen” attracts attention to MAB building and helps increase the overall value of the project.
