Welcome to Fall Fest, friends! Dear friends, residents and visitors: The Fall Fest Committee and the Angola Area Chamber of Commerce are very excited about welcoming our visitors and community to Fall Fest 2012. Fall Fest is a family oriented festival and has been a great event for our community. This is my first year to be involved with Fall Fest, and let me tell you, it has much to offer. The food court is always a favorite, along with the bands playing in the downtown and the kids playing in the Family Fun Area. We always have a great time at the Civil War Days in the Vanette Commons Park. The Civil War Encampment will also be great this year, whether you are a participant or observer. The Angola Area Chamber of Commerce has been very busy making preparations for the annual Fall Fest held in historic Downtown Angola. This year’s event starts Friday night and runs through Sunday. The schedule is full of fun activities, including a mini carnival that children should really enjoy! The kick off party runs from 5 p.m. to midnight on Friday

A complete schedule of activities can be found on angolachamber.org and elsewhere in this section. Because the city and our committee want to ensure your safety we will have crossing guards around the Public Square for most of the weekend. On behalf of the Angola Area Chamber of Commerce, I hope you will take advantage of this wonderful event in the downtown by bringing your family and friends. Fall Fest wouldn’t be the wonderful festival it is without you, our community and all the businesses that stepped up to be Fall Fest sponsors. Hope to see you this weekend! Sincerely, Nicole Vanette Executive Director Angola Area Chamber of Commerce

July 4th carnival returns for Angola Fall Fest “I think we needed a face lift. We needed a boost, Baker said. “We’ve invited companies we haven’t had before (to Fall Fest). We wanted to make it more kid oriented. With the kids come adults. We wanted to have something for everyone. Baker said in case of rain, the carnival will continue to operate. “It’s the nature of the beast, she said. Even though it was hot and humid when the carnival came to town July 4, Baker said they worked hard. “They told me that was their best weekend. We really like these folk. We introduced them to Mayor (Richard) Hickman and he asked if they were coming back, she said. “We’re thrilled to have them. I think everyone was happy with the 4th of July, she said.

ANGOLA — The Angola Fall Fest will have the same family-run carnival from Peru, Ind., return that also offered rides during a July 4 celebration. Circus City Amusement Co. will return and offer four rides — two that will be geared to children and two for adults, Marilyn Baker, Fall Fest co-chair, said. The carnival will be set up in a city parking lot at South Elizabeth and West Gale streets. “The first year we had a dynamite company, Baker said. “They are family run. They are a dynamite company. Baker said just in time for Fall Fest, the carnival company will have discount coupons at various Angola businesses. Another thing Baker likes about Circus City is they give part of their proceeds back to Fall Fest and it goes to charity.

Angola Fall Fest

Pair of Romines perform in two Fall Fest bands ANGOLA — A pair of Romines will be performing at Fall Fest this year. Dave Romine will be performing with his new band, Retro Radio (pictured on the cover) and Tim Romine will be performing with 1 Ton Trio. Dave is Tim’s uncle.
Retro Radio Dave Romine and Lonnie Lonsbury return to the Fall Fest stage in a band the Angola natives have formed called Retro Radio. “We really looking forward to performing at this year’s Fall Fest, Lonsbury said. The duo will play from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Retro Radio’s Romine and Lonsbury have been playing and singing for a combined 40 years. Both started in grade school and had bands by the time they were in high school. Through the years they played both together and seperately in bands such as Alexis, The Romine Brothers Band and Triple Dog Dare.
After a 25-year separation, the two have teamed back up to form Retro Radio, singing the pop and rock oldies from the 1960s through the 1980s. After singing with tracks for a time the two have decided to add instrumentation to the act, adding guitar, bass and possibly keyboards and electronic drums to fill out the act and add more variety. Retro Radio sings and plays music from The Beatles, The Turtles, The Buckinghams, Three Dog Night, Little River Band, Tommy James, The Eagles and more.
Combining many years of musical experience between the three, this version of The 1 Ton Trio came together in March 2012. Henry and Dave started The 1 Ton Trio some eight years ago. Playing everything from blues standards, to country to rock, The 1 Ton Trio offers all types and ages of music to enthusiasts. Henry grew up playing with his dad, Hank in such bands as Rampage, the Hank Lewis Band and Sitting Bull.
Dave grew up playing with his uncle Ray Chrysler (who played for several years in the Romine Brothers Band), even playing with Tim in their early teens. Dave has also played with the Rank Amatures, Roadhouse Kings and Blue Skyway. Tim grew up watching his dad’s band, the Romine Brothers Band, eventually playing with them for 15 years. Tim has also played with Ed Luvs Muffins, DredLevel and Broken Daze.
The 1 Ton Trio The 1 Ton Trio is a blues- and rock-based, three-piece band from the Steuben County area. The band is comprised of Henry Lewis III on guitar and vocals, Dave Adamsons on bass guitar and vocals and Tim Romine on drums and vocals. The 1 Ton Trio will take to the stage at noon on Saturday for a three-hour performance at Fall Fest.
