Resurrection Lutheran Church wants the community to share in the dedication of the new labyrinth Saturday, Aug. 13, and to follow that path to prayer in the future. “The public is always welcome,” the Rev. William H. Smith said. “Not just that day, but anytime anyone wants to come out and use this facility or walk the path and use the exercise stations. That’s what it’s here for.” The church at 14318 Lima Road, Fort Wayne, will dedicate the labyrinth after a 5 p.m. service in the church’s own park just east of the church building. “We’ll have worship out here in the park and then we’ll

Mazie’s owners understood that pets are family. So when her 4-year-old Maltipoo became ill last summer, Lisa Clemens of Fort Wayne took Mazie to an emergency veterinarian in Fort Wayne and then to the Purdue Small Animal Hospital in West Lafayette. Clemens was able to afford the several thousand dollars in veterinary bills. She was able to make decisions about Mazie’s care without weighing the care against the cost. Despite the care and the cost, Mazie died. Clemens has organized the Allen County Area Assistance Fund to help other families that face such decisions. See PETS, Page A10

The Rev. Kathie Jones welcomed parishioners and guests to the fourth annual Forest Park United Methodist Church OldFashioned Hymn Sing and Ice Cream Social. “We forget sometimes how important these songs are to us,” the pastor said. “We sing the words from Scripture, the words of those who have lived the faith.” More than 100 voices from throughout Fort Wayne gathered at 2100 Kentucky Ave. on July 10, to share 22 hymns in an hour and 15 minutes. The gathering chose from 734 selections in The United Methodist Hymnal, copyright 1989, and 284 options from “The Faith We Sing,” copyright 2000. Members
