SUPERIOR EN PLEIN ART EXHIBIT

In the fall of 2021, Superior’s first ever “paint out” event featured over a dozen artists painting live, en plein air! Now the finished works of art that were inspired by the surroundings at Purple Park are on exhibit at the Superior Community Center through April 2022.

OERMAN-ROCHE TRAILHEAD SCULPTURE

Have you seen the rings near the entrance of OermanRoche Trailhead? The new sculpture was installed in early December 2021 by artist Joshua Wiener with support of the CAPs Advisory Committee. "This Must Be the Place" is a series of five large-scale steel rings and an accompanying winding trail system. With the mountains visibly to the west from McCaslin Boulevard, the five 74” tall rings appear to be rolling down the hill, or climbing upward, depending on one’s vantage point. The surrounding views framed by each ring will shift while traversing the path or simply passing by, but ultimately are intended to create or enhance a sense of motion.

WINTER ARTS IN THE PARK

Winter Lights at Grasso Park returns! A temporary immersive light and music installation by artist David Farquharson and his workspace Farhorizon Studio was commissioned by the CAPS Advisory Committee. Installed in December 2021, the installation is intended to provide the community with a fun, family-friendly light experience during the winter nights with its three separate experiential zones. This Winter Arts in the Park installation can be visited through April 2022.
