The Sound Source: Stu Brown Sextet Curated by spnm – promoting new music The brilliant Stu Brown Sextet perform music by the maverick musician, band leader, inventor and experimentalist Raymond Scott whose merry melodies underscored the antics of Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. Including films by Kenneth Anger and Standish Lawder curated by no.w.here labs and emerging artists curated by Music Orbit.

‘Lightworks’: Leon Michener (solo piano) Curated by Twisted Lounge Michener presents music by Charles Ives, Alexander Scriabin, Les Baxter, Art Tatum, Scott “Tom and Jerry” Bradley, Detroit techno pioneer Drexciya, also rarely seen avant-garde early 20th century films of Hans Richter and Vincent Eggeling. ‘Truly original’ – Observer Music Monthly.

The Multiplier Series Curated by Graham Fitkin A mixed evening with three outstanding ensembles – The Veya Saxophone Quartet, The Elysian Strings and the Parkinson Saunders duo on cardboard boxes. Hard hitting music by iconic Dutch composer Louis Andriessen, American pioneer Alvin Lucier and British rhythmicists Joe Cutler and Fitkin himself.

Kings Place is just 150 metres from King’s Cross and St Pancras Stations, one of the most connected locations in London and now the biggest transport hub in Europe. The main entrance is situated on York Way beneath the distinctive undulating glass façade, visible from the York Way exit at King’s Cross Station.

The Sound Source: Carl Stone’s Sampling Neurosis – also featuring People Like Us & Eergo Phizmiz – Curated by spnm – promoting new music www.spnm.org.uk US & Japan-based Carl Stone is a pioneer of live computer music, hailed by New York’s Village Voice as ‘the king of sampling’. The event also features People Like Us and Ergo Phizmiz – ‘Nothing sounds stranger than the deeply familiar in an unfamiliar context’ – The Wire. This Isn’t For You Curated by Matt Fretton Critical Distortions. A collaboration between cellist Natalie Clein, sound artist Simon Fisher Turner, and composer Shiva Feshareki. The programme includes Shiva’s Critical Distortions for cello and turntables and the folk-inspired solo cello sonata by Kodály.

Ricordi - Beyond 200 Curated by Ricordi London To celebrate over 200 years of publishing new music, Ricordi London presents a showcase of works by internationally acclaimed Ricordi composers Liza Lim, Enno Poppe and Franco Donatoni, performed by Australia’s leading contemporary music ensemble ELISION. The evening includes the UK premiere of Wild wingedone, from Liza Lim’s new opera The Navigator.

The Sound Source: Annie Gosfield, EWA7 – Factory Music – Curated by spnm – promoting new music Music meets machinery in EWA7, a concert-length work that incorporates sampled machine sounds, percussion played on industrial found metal, altered electric guitar and the recycled sounds of many factories. ‘A star of the downtown scene’ – The New Yorker on Annie Gosfield. The Multiplier Series Curated by Graham Fitkin The Multiplier continues with another mix of homogenous ensembles based on single timbres. Star percussionist Joby Burgess shakes maracas with extraordinary elegance, the virtuosic Fell Quartet mix Bb and bass clarinets, Joanna Bailie’s ensemble works lofi and hifi wonders whilst somewhere in the midst lurks a rarely-heard Steve Reich tape piece.
