The lockdown threw many challenges on children and caregivers living in Child Care Institutions (CCI) across the country, including children under the care of Rainbow Homes Program. In this telephonic study, a sample of 29 older children in the age group of 14-17 years and 6 care givers were interviewed remotely. It documented perspectives of these children about changes in their everyday lives during lock down with key focus on daily routines (eating, sleeping, play, physical activity), emotional states, distance education experience etc. It aimed to explore how they coped with Covid, their developmental changes and attainments during this time. It also captured care giver’s experience in coping up with the aspects of the new normal such as, using digital communication tools or introduction of new hygiene practices to curb the spread of the disease, among others. At the end, few positive learnings and areas of improvements were documented to work on building resilience among children and staff.
