Insight into
WHAT’S HOT
10 REINVENTING THE CLASSICS We are seeing a rise in classic salads being made over to be more relevant and appealing in today's market. Simple touches such as adding grilled asparagus to a classic Caesar salad or replacing traditional lettuce with a variety of leaves such as rocket or kale. This gives the opportunity for operators to put their own spin on a salad to make it individual to their outlet.
MORE BOWLS Although grain bowls are very popular at the moment, the popularity of the ‘food bowl’ is expected to grow. The Hawaiian Poke Bowl is already appearing on menus and increasing in favour due to their mix of textures and versatility. Grains can be added to salads to make them more substantial and filling!
NO WASTE COOKING Known as ‘nose to tail’ cooking, no waste is an extremely popular trend and is a great way for operators to keep costs to a minimum.
EAT THE RAINBOW Using bright ingredients such as beetroot and radish is a great way to give plates a pop of colour to ensure they look appealing to consumers. Salads are ideal to keep up with this trend as they are full of bold, bright colours. Using an array of ingredients is the way forward and makes a plate look great when posted to Instagram!
RISE IN GLUTEN FREE PRODUCTS This is no longer just seen as a ‘trend’ it is now a requirement that outlets have a gluten free option on menus. Salads are one of the easiest ways to adapt a dish to cater for these consumers. Adding meat substitutes and tasty dressings means there doesn’t have to be a comprise on great taste and experience.

A note from our partners
Savage Salads
We were hugely impressed with the Heinz Salad Dressings when we first tried them, and coming from a huge brand like Heinz we knew that the quality would be fantastic. The 6 different dressings are a mix and match of core flavours that customers know and love, like Caesar and Honey Mustard mixed with on-trend flavours like Forest Fruits and Lemon & Herb. These dressings are ideal for an operator who is limited on both time and money, creating scratch dressings is a long process, especially to create something really tasty. But also with money where the cost of ingredients to create dressings, especially something like Caesar can erode margin. Using the Heinz dressings mean these two factors are significantly reduced, plus having a nice squeezy bottle also makes it easier when speed of service is key. We LOVED these dressings and our customers really loved the taste and flavour with what we paired them with.
