Reduce your Total Cost of Ownership The challenging market conditions mean that more and more manufacturers are searching for ways and means of working more efficiently and reducing costs. One of the ways to achieve this goal is to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Many companies have built up a large supplier base for their purchasing, often for historical reasons. However, small product savings evaporate if the extra cost of working with different suppliers is taken into account. Everything under one roof The most effective way of minimising supplier costs is simply to reduce the number of suppliers. At Kramp, you will find everything you need under one roof. Set Delivery One of the options for reducing your TCO is Set Delivery by Kramp. In this edition of OEM Expert, you can find out more about the benefits offered by Set Delivery. I hope you enjoy reading this edition.

"Set Delivery fits perfectly with our principle of producing as efficiently as possible" Ten years ago, Jochem Zonderland started an agricultural machinery wholesale business in Joure, Friesland. Since that time, Zonderland has been importing Machinehandel BV machines from Italy, Spain, Poland, Turkey and China for the Benelux market. Because the quality of the mass-produced products did not always match with Zonderland's ambitions, in 2012 he decided to produce machines inhouse. "For three years, we have been operating under the name ZoCon to produce relatively simple but high quality agricultural machinery such as bale clamps, aerators, tipping trailers, sweepers and pasture aerators with seeders", said Managing Director Jochem Zonderland. "We work with a total of 20 staff and produce around 1,800 machines annually, which we now export globally". Highly efficient Initially, ZoCon worked with different suppliers, until their Kramp account manager came forward with a proposal for Set Delivery. “We sat around the table and ultimately put together sets for different machines. We order those sets on demand according to the planning, so we are able to work effectively with minimal stock. Because our planning allows us to have a clear order forecast, we don't need to worry about the availability of parts. We order the relevant set using one order number, so it's all really easy. We now order all sets from one supplier and can therefore purchase large volumes. That's economical and at the same time, involves a minimal amount of effort. That fits perfectly with our principle of producing as efficiently as possible, added Jochem. Certainty Once a set has been delivered to Jochem 'just in time', the boxes are unpacked, sorted and brought to the various assembly points in mobile warehouses. "That saves us a lot of work", explained Arno Bakker, manufacturer at Zonderland. "The sets also give us the certainty that we have the exact quantities of parts available, which in turn means that we require fewer checkpoints. As soon as a set arrives, our technicians can get started with the parts right away". www.zocon.eu www.zonderlandmachinehandel.nl www.facebook.com/zonderlandmachinehandel

Set Delivery
How does that work? With Set Delivery, we make your work easier and more efficient. How this works can be explained in seven steps: 1 You have a question, or we see opportunities for simplifying your work process. 2 The Business Solution Specialist (BSS) will work with you to produce an inventory of items required for the set and will draft a proposal. 3 Once the list is complete, the BSS prepares an offer for each set containing the terms and conditions of delivery, delivery time and stock. 4 Once agreed, the item number for the set is created and placed in our system. You can now easily use this item number to order the complete set.
5 If possible, we can store items in stock for you in our warehouse, which can be ordered on demand. This saves storage space in your own warehouse. 6 The set is made at a special logistics department, which assembles and packages the set. A further check is also carried out here to ensure the accuracy of the products and quantities. 7 Sets can be delivered 'just in time' on request. It couldn't be easier.
If a Set Delivery would also fit into your lean business process, please contact your account manager.

The future of manufacturing There was a huge amount of hype in the 1980s about the idea of 'lights out' manufacturing. The prevailing view was that production would be completely taken over by robots. Because people would no longer be required in manufacturing, the lights could be left off in the workshop. As we now all know, this did not happen. Robotics are currently only used in mass production, while smaller companies have focused on operational excellence by streamlining their processes using Lean and QRM.

It is part of the Danfoss Group and is continually working on solutions that machine builders require to get ahead in a changing world. The full range of engines, steering systems, valves, pumps, electronic control systems and telematics is available through the Kramp webshop. Recently, a change has been emerging. Smart manufacturing is seen as the fourth industrial revolution that heralds huge changes to the way in which production and logistics create value. Four major technological developments support this trend, which creates new opportunities for the manufacturing industry: - 3D printing - Cloud/Internet of Things (IoT) analytics - A demand driven supply chain based on Big Data - Decentralised production coordinated using IT (Distributed Manufacturing)
What do you think? Which of these innovations do you consider just hype and which will be completely integrated into your production process ten years from now? What do you think? And why? Share your opinion with us via expert.uk@kramp.com

REAL TIME demonstration
Customers see the Hose Configurator in action 'Handy. Innovation as you would expect of Kramp. What will the next product be? Simple to use. Good that you can also order a complete kit.' These are just some of the comments that we received during the presentation of the Hose Configurator at the Kramp Open. The handy online tool that allows you to quickly and easily order hydraulic hoses became available in the webshop on the 28th of January. Real time demonstration The configurator demonstration was held in the assembly workplace, meaning we were able to link the configuration process immediately to the production process. Many questions on the labelling, testing, assembly and opportunities available were answered using practical, live demonstrations. The tool supports the customer throughout the entire process. Using images and selection menus to provide an overview, the customer is quickly able to find the correct hose or hose set. Orders can be placed at the click of a button and repeat orders are extremely simple.
Let us know The Hose Configurator is part of the Product Configurator, which can also be used to order hydraulic cylinders. More products are set to be added to the configurator in future. Try for yourself and see how easy it is. The Easylink C00852 will take you to the Product Configurator via the webshop, where you can select the Hose Configurator option. We are keen to hear your comments, please let us know via: configurator.uk@kramp.com. You can also contact us with any questions using the same address.
Kramp Open 2016 outside the box That was the motto for the Kramp Open 2016, held between the 28th and 30th of January 2016 at Kramp's headquarters in Varsseveld (NL). Some 6,000 customers visited this large scale event. Customers were also able to take a look behind the scenes, get to know some Kramp employees along with over 100 suppliers, and attend various seminars on issues such as social media, business solutions and Total Cost of Ownership. Guests could also take an interactive tour of the programme through the main office, warehouse, distribution centre, workshop and Technical Services.
There was, of course, also time to relax. Refreshments were available in the evening, while live music made the party complete. For all those who visited Kramp Open: thank you for coming.
