OFF IT GOES! The ball rolled under the chair. The little hedgehog stopped. A kitty was sleeping on the chair. The little hedgehog didn’t want to wake up the kitty. – How do
There is a nose in the middle of my face, there is a beak in the middle of the bird’s head.
I get the ball? he wondered.

BEST ROPEAN EU SILVER AWARD 2012 on BESA NING AR LE competition, which gives awards MATERIAL to the best schoolbooks in Europe. AWARD 2012
Children aged 6 and 7 develop logical thinking at a growing rate and that is very important for various mathematical activities that stimulate mental development. The tasks are interesting, puzzle-like and not typical. Coming up with an idea for solving a problem develops the creative potential and intuition that is required for mathematics in general. Both books contain a diploma and stickers which are to be used for rating the child’s performance in solving problems. In this way children are taught to assess their work and judge its value which has a substantial educational effect.

12. Shelf with cupboards Ducky the Duck had a square-shaped shelf with nine cupboards in his cellar. The central cupboard in the middle was supposed to store empty bottles, while the 60 bottles of quality wine (harvest year 1963) were arranged so that there were six bottles in every corner cupboard and nine bottles in every middle cupboard. This way, there were 21 bottles on each side of the square, as you can see from the picture. 6

This is the new activity series for school children. Each title consists of numerous tasks grouped by the theme which allows to practice school curriculum in a fun way. Many creative activities are included in each theme: to read a story, solve many different tasks, calculate, explore, give an opinion, create and make something they have come up with. The tasks are designed to be done individually and on its own, but a child can always ask for help (especially a 1st grader). Spontaneously these tasks help kids achieve soft skills they would use later in life.

These 4 activity books are for gifted children who want to discover more in maths than the school curriculum requires from them. The books are intended for pupils 7-10 years of age. The tasks in these books are not found in regular textbooks – some tasks are for developing logical and abstract thinking, some are related to spacial orientation. There are also tasks related to dealing with different situations and some are just beautiful exercises which make mathematics interesting. All exercises encourage and develop mathematical skills and giftedness.

Author: Tomislav Senćanski
The bind-up version is a selection of 240 experiments in one book and it came as a result of 20 year-long presence of these titles in Serbia and in dozen other countries around the world.
Patterns formed by sound This experiment will allow you to do something very unusual: to give sound shape.
Necessary materials: an empty tin can, translucent tracing paper, some sand, a funnel, a rubber band, a flute
Pictures formed by sound If you want to see a picture of your voice, try the following experiment.
Necessary materials: a balloon, scissors, a short cardboard tube, a rubber band, some metal foil, a flashlight, glue
How the experiment is performed
4. Insert the funnel into the opening as shown. 5. Play a tune into the funnel's opening.
1. Stretch a piece of the balloon rubber tightly across one end of the tube and fix with the rubber band. 2. Stick a small piece of foil on the balloon rubber. 3. Switch on the flashlight, and position it as shown, so that it is pointing at the metal foil at an angle enabling you to see a spot of light reflected on a wall or a piece of paper. 4. Speak into the open end of the tube, changing the pitch and loudness of your voice.
What will happen?
What will happen?
How the experiment is performed
1. Make an opening on the side of the can to fit the funnel tube. 2. Stretch the tracing paper over the open end and fix with the rubber band tightly. 3. Spread a little sand or other powder on the paper surface.
The sand will begin oscillating on the paper and a regularly-shaped pattern will emerge.
Dashes and wavy lines will appear on the spot of light.
Why?
The vibrations of the air inside the can caused by the flute are conveyed to the paper. But not all parts of its surface oscillate equally, so more sand is forced away from some areas than from others. In this way regular patterns are formed.
Additional idea
1. Repeat the experiment with another instrument and you will get a different pattern. 2. Fixing a plate of metal or glass on a standard as shown and spreading sand on it, pull a violin bow across its edge. This will also result in a pretty pattern.
Why?
The oscillations of your voice make the air in the tube vibrate. This forces the balloon, foil and therefore also the reflected light to oscillate. You will be able to see this in the form of short lines and wavy lines in the spot of light.

What is going to happen? You won’t be able to fold any of the pieces of paper more than seven times.
The reason why: When the air comes out of the narrow part of the funnel, the air currents separate and go different ways, making the flame move in the same direction as the air currents. When the air comes out of the wider part of the funnel, the air currents separate while still inside the funnel. The currents hit the walls of the funnel, change the direction and whirl, which is why the air reaches the flame from behind the candle and bends it towards the inside of the wider part of the funnel.
The reason why: Pieces of paper become multilayered by folding. When a piece of paper is folded several times, the number of layers is so big that it cannot be folded any more. Even very thin paper is very difficult to fold after the number of layers reaches more than one hundred, which happens after paper is folded seven times.

Series Learn and try is meant as an introduction to the world of different professions: botany, meteorology, film directing, archaeology, astronomy, etc. The concept of this series is such that in the first half of the book readers are introduced to each filed of science or profession - the historical background, famous people of each profession, basic concepts and procedures. Second half of the book gives various suggestions on how a reader can try to be one of these experts performing easily manageable tasks and experiments within each field. Each book also contains a part, which should be adapted for the local readership – namely a famous local expert in each field. The first title was created in 2008 and the rest were made in the following 10 years.

eople sometimes think all ancient vertebrates are dinosaur, Pfrom mammoths and pterosaurs to plesiosaurs and ichthyosaurs.
TYRANNOSAURUS

TRICERATOPS
But dinosaurs are a particular group of animals that have certain features in common, including living on land. Although some dinosaurs may have spent time in the water, just as elephants do today, they didn’t live in the water. They’re a pretty mixed bunch—large and small, fast and slow, herbivores and carnivores, some with long necks, others with horns, plates, crests, spikes or body armour. With so many differences, it’s hard to find many features they all share. As most of these features are rather technical, we’ll just look at a few important ones, all related to the way dinosaurs carried their weight. Many dinosaurs walked on two legs, like us. But, whereas we hold our bodies upright, dinosaurs held theirs horizontally, using their long tails for balance. Even the four-legged ones carried most of their weight on their back legs, again using their tails to balance the weight of the front part of the body. As most of the weight was carried by the back legs, the pelvis (hips) had to be firmly attached to the backbone. The sacrum—the part of the backbone to which the pelvis attaches—had to be strong, and was formed from at least three vertebrae joined together. Almost all other reptiles have less than three sacral vertebrae.
SKELETON OF A MODERN REPTILE
Modern reptiles, like lizards, have the legs sprawled out horizontally at the sides of the body, as if they’re doing push-ups. It would be impossible to support a heavy load with such a posture, which is why dinosaurs held their legs vertically, beneath the body.
There are more than five hundred different kinds (genera) of dinosaurs. These can be divided into two main groups, based on the shape of their pelvis. The lizard-hipped dinosaurs, called saurischians, have a three-pronged pelvis. The bird-hipped dinosaurs, called ornithischians, have a four-pronged pelvis. ILIUM
PUBIS
To achieve this, the head of the femur— the ball that fits into the hip socket—was set off at the side of the bone, rather than being at its end as it is in modern reptiles. The hip socket was also extra deep, and was open-ended, like a cup with a hole in the bottom, which is a unique dinosaur feature.

LEARN MORE ABOUT TRANSFORMED LEAVES In plants growing in dry regions leaves turn into thorns, which offer the protection from animals and decrease water loss. In plants like these photosynthesis is performed by the green stem, where water is stored as well. Leaves of some plants turn into tendrils, the fibrous plant parts which wrap themselves around solid objects and other plants. This is what keeps the stem in the upright position and enables leaves on top to expose themselves to sunlight.
The leaf blade of tropical pitcher plant, which feeds on insects, is shaped like a can with a lid. Lured by smells and intense colours, insects fall down the slippery walls into the liquid rich with digestive enzymes.

Books in the series Straight about have a unique approach to serious themes – they involve humour, usually with elements of grotesque in illustrations. The first boo in the series was published 20 years ago and it is still one of the recognition marks of Kreativni centar. Sex for beginners, international bestseller, translated into 25 languages is still present and reprinted and sold in over 50000 copies so far. It has become a classic. Other titles in the series are addressing subjects such as good manners, importance of general education, humorous approach to school, falling in love, conflicts.
Peepingpeople Tommaking – Secretly watches love, while
hiding behind bushes or through keyholes – until he’s driven off. Sometimes content with just watching, but sometimes also masturbates. Being a Peeping Tom is definitely not commendable. NOTE: Peeping Toms and flashers are not dangerous as such, but meeting them is not pleasant. If it happens to you, ignore them or threaten to call the police and go home at once.
Exhibi tionist – a man or a woman who loves to be watched by others more than
anything else in the world. Present themselves to the world in a dressed or undressed state, depending on the level of exhibitionism. The best known exhibitionist is a flasher, a person who puts on an overcoat with nothing under it, hangs around dark corners and waits for innocent victims, whom he then ambushes by jumping out in front of them and opening his overcoat, sometimes making a frightening or at least a stupid face at the same time. Being an exhibitionist is just as commendable as being a Peeping Tom. NOTE: When partners in sex take off their clothes and look at each other, they aren’t being exhibitionists or perverts. On the contrary, their action is stimulating.
Talking about Sex We divided this chapter into two parts so as to impress you with our knowledge and studious approach. There are two types of myths: – ancient sexual myths, and: – contemporary sexual myths.
Ancient sexual myths
NARCISSUS – a youth who saw his image in a lake and fell in love with it, gradually wasting away and finally dying from unfulfilled desire after himself (what a geek!). The gods later turned his body into the flower called after him. Today we say someone is narcissistic when he or she is self-centred and obsessed with his own physical or mental attributes.
OEDIPUS – unwittingly killed his own father and married his own mother, and, worst of all, had four children with her. When they found out their mistake, the mother killed herself at once, while Oedipus first blinded himself and then killed himself. The Oedipus complex is the subject of numerous works of art and literature, but also family quarrels.
SODOM AND I GOMORRAH – Biblical cities of sin and debauchery burned down in sulphur and tar. Located at the site of today’s Dead Sea (that should make everything clear!). Sodomy is anal or oral sex. It is also copulation with animals. No one doing that can be called clever or normal.
WARNING: If your name is Narcissus, avoid looking at yourself in the mirror too often and too long.
Orgies – sex with more than two people involved. See picture.

This teenage guide in a blog form gives answers to some of the questions teenage girls usually ask: Why is my mum the one who does all the work around the house and not my dad? Why do I have my dad’s last name and not my mum’s? Why do we know about so many male athletes and scientists, but so few female athletes and scientists? These lessons might not help you get straight A’s, but they will help you make the world a better and more just place for you and your (girl) friends. And the first and most important lesson goes like this: There is nothing, absolutely nothing, that girls cannot, are not allowed, or don’t have to do just because they are girls!

Holcer Author: Jelena n Pavlić ša Du r: to tra Illus

SPECIAL GREETINGS Think up a special greeting only you and your child are in on (maybe also the rest of the family). It might consist of a special hand move, a wink, a little jump… but should be a combination of several things which you will repeat quite often. This will always represent a special bond between you and your child.
6 Possible ways to show your children you love them when they're aged between two and five:
SPECIAL PETTING Just as your kisses will be special (rubbing noses, tickling your kids' cheeks with your eyelashes, etc.), you should think up special caresses. Use your finger to write letters and shapes on their bellies, tickle them with a feather, rub oil on them after their baths… You might invent special embraces: one-armed, with both arms, one leg up, one hand behind the back, head turned sideways…
BARBIE'S TAILOR Sew clothes for your daughter's favourite doll and set aside screws, bolts and nails for your son's first tool-box. Don't worry, the kids do know that you are doing this because you love them, not their toys.

The latest novel by an award winning author is a tender and exciting coming of age novel from the time of grange, first video games and dial-up internet. It is a story from the ‘90s when the times were turbulent in the Balkans, when generation X was in their teens, growing up with good music, films and comic books but was also searching for the lights of the stars in the darkness they found themselves in. The novel is composed as the reminiscence of the protagonist from the times when epic confrontations of the good and the evil were seeping down from the comic books into the real world. This tender and at the same time bitter story is intended for the new generations who are also in the search of their own dreams and need the answers which can also be found in the past.
