“I’m In PAIN” Can Chiropractic Help ME ? We are often asked, “What’s the best way of finding out whether or not a doctor of chiropractic can help my problem?” We believe the answer can be found in a complete chiropractic consultation and examination, including x-rays. And to help find out for sure, we will do a complete consultation and examination, including x-rays, if necessary, (procedures that normally cost $187.00 or more) for $25.00. We will make this special program available through FEBRUARY. The only exception to the offer involves personal injury cases (workers’ compensation and auto accidents) in which there is no charge directly to the patient.

smith MIDDLE SCHOOL SMITH MIDDLE SCHOOL SEEKING COMMUNITY MENTORS
Smith Middle School is seeking community mentors to serve as positive role models for our students. Being a community mentor is extremely rewarding and only takes a commitment of 30 minutes to an hour a week to mentor/meet with one of our 6th, 7th or 8th grade students. Mentors must attend a one-time district orientation before they begin mentoring at the school. Then, it just takes 30 minutes a week to truly make a difference in the life of a child. Once you have completed the training and background check, an administrator at Smith will work with you to match you with a student who would be the best fit for you. If you enjoy working with children and making a true difference in people’s lives, the mentor program at Smith Middle School is just for you!! We are especially looking for quality male mentors to serve as role models to our male students. District mentor training dates are being held on the following dates this school year: Jan. 26th, Feb. 7th and March 22nd. Please contact Melissa Laroussini, Mentor Program Coordinator, at 281-213-1026 or by email at Melissa. laroussini@cfisd.net for more information. Thank you!

“BALANCING ACT”
On March 24th 6 PM – 9 PM, Cypress Lakes High School and Louisiana National Guardsmen will partner together for an event to promote the importance of balancing life’s everyday challenges while also giving back to the community. Money will be raised providing donations to families of first responders, who themselves give back to our community and country on a regular basis. “Balancing Act,” is an opportunity for the students of Cypress Lakes High School, their clubs and organizations, members of the military/ first responders and other members in the community to show the importance of having balance in life. A representative of each group, club or organization will demonstrate their commitment to “balancing life” by doing handstand/wheel barrel walks down the main hallway of Cypress Lakes High School, which is approximately ¼ of a mile. College representatives, health care providers, first responders and business owners will be on hand for support and to offer different opportunities for students and the community to learn ways to balance academics, health, well being, physical fitness and everyday life situations. There is no admission for the event, but donations are welcome. There will be awards, door prizes, giveaways, food, music and other activities/entertainment! Everyone is welcome. For more information, visit www.balancingact.webs.com.

funds to reduce the effects of heart disease in women.
BERYL RAMSEY AND WAYNE VOSS TO CHAIRGO RED FOR WOMEN LUNCHEON
CEO of Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, Beryl Ramsey, returns to Chair the Go Red For Women Luncheon in partnership with CEO of Methodist West Houston Hospital, Wayne Voss. Together, Ramsey and Voss will serve as Co-Chairs and lead efforts to raise awareness that heart disease remains the number one killer of women, but is often preventable with healthy lifestyle choices.
Today, only 1 in 5 women believe that heart disease is their greatest health threat. More women die of cardiovascular disease than the next three causes of death combined, including all forms of cancer. Go Red for Women celebrates the energy, passion and power that women can use to band together to wipe out heart disease and stroke. To secure a sponsorship, purchase tables and/or tickets, or for further information, contact Priscilla Luna at 713-610-5071 or email priscilla. luna@heart.org. For more information about Go Red For Women, visit GoRedForWomen.org or call 1-888-MY-HEART. Go Red For Women is sponsored nationally by Macy’s and Merck & Co., Inc.
This year’s luncheon will be held on Monday, Feb. 13th at the Berry Center in Cy-Fair and is expected to draw more than 400 business and community leaders. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn tips on heart disease and stroke prevention from local experts, listen to a heart-warming story of survival from an area resident, participate in interactive breakout displays and shop the “purse-onalities” silent auction. The silent auction is a unique piece of the luncheon that features items representative of the diverse personalities of the community. Purses can be anything from actual handbags to golf bags to briefcases. This year’s auction will include something for everyone!
About the American Heart Association The American Heart Association is the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary health organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke. Our mission is to build healthier lives by preventing, treating and defeating these diseases - America’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers. We fund cutting-edge research, conduct lifesaving public and professional educational programs, and advocate to protect public health. To learn more or join us in helping all Americans, call 1-800-AHA-USA1 or visit americanheart.org.
Melissa Wilson of Fox 26 Morning News will emcee the event and Dr. Valentina Ugolini of Willowbrook Cardiovascular Associates will be the featured medical speaker.
The Knights of Columbus Council 8096 of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church invite you to attend our 26th Charity Las Vegas Night.
Ramsey and Voss and their team of volunteers have a goal of raising a record-breaking $200,000 to support educational programs that the American Heart Association provides and the life-saving research it
The event will be held on February 18, 2012, from 7:00 PM until 10:30 PM, at the church, 6646 Addicks Satsuma, in the Community Life Center.

CWC - Women Serving the Community
The Cy-Fair Women’s Club held its first business meeting for the year on January 5th. On February 2nd, we plan to continue our business meeting and hope to play Bunco if time permits. During the beginning portion of our February meeting we will have Nancie Craft visit with our group to offer us great deals for Rodeo Carnival Tickets. We are looking forward to visiting with her. CWC is a service organization that gives back to the community, so all funds raised will go right back to the community in scholarships for graduating high school seniors, at Lone Star College, Cy-Fair and grants to other non-profits in our community, as well. Membership for the Cy-Fair Women’s Club is open to all ladies in Northwest Houston/Cypress neighborhoods. Currently we meet the first Thursday of most months at West Houston Church of Christ. Our meetings begin with social time and refreshments at 7:00 PM immediately followed by a program at 7:30 PM. The church is located at the corner of Queenston and West Road. Our monthly meetings are not only educational and enjoyable, but they develop lasting fellowships. We look forward to meeting you! If you have any questions about our club or need directions to the church, please contact Susan McLeroy, Membership Chair at sudomac@comcast.net.
