Oversize Commercial Vehicles No Overnight Parking Signs are posted at all entrances to Concord Bridge restricting overnight parking for commercial vehicles. A majority of homeowners signed partitions asking for this ruling. Over size commercial vehicles are restricted from parking in Concord Bridge over night. You must move these vehicles to an acceptable and legal parking area outside Concord Bridge or risk receiving a ticket. It is also against your deed restrictions to park these vehicles in our neighborhood. You not only run the risk of getting a ticket, you could incur fines from the Homeowner’s Association too.

Concord Bridge Pet Hotline The pet hotline at www.concordbridgepethotline.com is no longer in service. You can still contact them at 281468-9414 and on the new Facebook account, Concord Bridge Pet Hotline. You can use this source to report lost and found animals. This has been a great help in returning lost and found animals to their owners. If you don’t have access to Facebook, you can still call 281-468-9414. Please note, Harris County requires that all pets be on a leash or confined within your yard.

Annual Meeting and Elections November 17, 2011 MAIL IN YOUR PROXIE OR ATTEND THE MEETING IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE GIFT CARD DRAWING. The annual meeting and elections will be held Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 7:30 pm. We must have a quorum of attendees and/or signed proxies. Only 10% of the homeowners must attend or send in their proxy. The apathy is so abundant that we have not had a quorum for the past couple of years. New state laws mandate a quorum on all elections. If you are not able to attend the meeting, please sign and return your proxy. If you change your mind and attend the meeting, the proxy will be returned to you for use in the election. As an incentive, there will be a drawing of proxies mailed in. The winner will receive a $100 gift card. If you attend the meeting, there will be a drawing for those present and this winner will receive a $200 gift card. You will not be eligible for both drawings.

Thanksgiving Trivia Thanksgiving was celebrated throughout the colonies after fall harvests. However, all thirteen colonies did not celebrate Thanksgiving at the same time until October 1777. In 1789 George Washington declared the day a holiday. Sarah J. Hale, a poet, had begun lobbying for a national Thanksgiving holiday. During the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln, looking for ways to unite the nation, discussed the subject with Hale. He gave his Thanksgiving Proclamation in 1863, and declared the last Thursday in November a day of thanksgiving. Each year the President of the United States pardons a turkey before Thanksgiving at a White House ceremony. The tradition’s origin is uncertain. One story claims that Harry Truman pardoned a turkey in 1947, but the Truman Library has been unable to find any evidence for this. Another claims that the tradition dates back to Abraham Lincoln pardoning his son Tad’s pet turkey. Remember the men and women fighting for our freedom in locations near and far. They are there defending our right of thanksgiving.

Be Thankful, Happy Thanksgiving! 1
