Annual Meeting: Our Copperbrook Annual meeting is scheduled for Saturday, April 16th from 3-5 PM at the pool. The rainout date for the Annual meeting will be Saturday, April 23rd. Please plan to attend to obtain pool wristbands and important information about our community!

Neighborhood Improvements: As you’ve noticed, there is a park being developed in Copperbrook’s detention pond.

We hope this will be a great asset to our community and we will keep you posted on a possible completion date. Additionally, we’ve approved updates to our monument lighting at the entrances to our subdivision and you will see many improvements to our pool area and pool parking lot soon! So keep your eyes open for these changes that are being made to better our community.

Pool: The neighborhood pool is now closed. The pool will reopen April 18, 2016 and will be open weekly Tuesday-Sunday from 6 AM-10 PM through November 1st. The pool will be closed Mondays for maintenance. In order to access the pool this upcoming season, you must first return the pool waiver to the management association and you MUST include your current pool card # on the waiver in order for us to activate your pool access card. After we’ve received your waiver and card information, you will be authorized to obtain wristbands at the annual meeting. The pool cards will allow you entry to the pool via the security gate and the wristbands will be an additional security measure to ensure non-residents are not being allowed access to the pool unless they’re a visitor to a resident and are wearing a visitor wristband provided to them by a homeowner. If you have not done so, please return this form as soon as possible.

If you cannot locate your card, you will need to buy a replacement card by contacting our management association at 281-647-6166. If you are new to the community, you will be given your first card at no charge. We plan to hand out the NEW wristbands at the annual meeting this year, so please make plans to attend. We also plan to have 1 or 2 other opportunities (dates to be determined) for households to obtain the new wristbands. Last year’s wristbands will not be accepted this year at the pool. You will be asked to leave the pool if you do not have your 2016 wristbands. This is all in an effort to keep non-residents from accessing the pool and causing possible damage to our amenities, so your cooperation is greatly appreciated! Be aware that residents who are not current on their HOA dues will NOT be granted access to the pool. If you have lost the form that was sent with the HOA dues notice, please contact MMC for a new form so that you’re able to get your wristbands for this summer.

The Board has voted to discontinue the website that the management company has provided to our residents. There were less than 10 residents who had registered to use the website and it did not make sense to keep paying the high monthly fee for this service. Our semi-annual community garage sale is scheduled for Saturday, April 2nd at 7 AM with a rainout date of Saturday, April 9th. At our last meeting, we did discuss that if a member of our community passes away and the family wishes to hold an estate sale, that we will approve those requests. If this is ever a need for your family, please email Shontele at copperbrook@mymcinc.com with at least a week’s notice and we will grant approval for the sale. There are no other sales allowed in our community outside of the 2 community garage sale dates. This is in an effort to keep outside traffic to a minimum in our community.

Yard of the Season: Hope you’re planning on keeping your yard looking great this spring!

We have a yard of the season contest and it is a good idea to keep things looking good! Committee members will drive the neighborhood and vote for the winning yard. To be eligible for yard of the season be sure to be current on your HOA dues.

Next Door App: This is a free app so homeowners can communicate instantly.

This app can be used to request referrals from other homeowners such as plumber, landscaper or a fence company. You can also post lost or found pets, report suspicious vehicle or person in the neighborhood. All you need to do is download the app and enter the information they request. The information that is requested is the same information you can already obtain online so do not let this deter you from looking into the app.

Monthly Meeting: Copperbrook HOA would like to welcome all homeowners to come to our monthly meetings at La Madeleine the first Tuesday of every month at 5 PM. The open session where we welcome residents to attend typically starts around 6 PM. Please, come share your ideas and learn of the latest projects and events in progress. We are aware that on occasion homeowners receive letters from the management company that are considered unwarranted by the homeowner. If you plan to do a small renovation or do major cleaning and you know that you may have something unsightly in your driveway/front yard for a short period of time, please call Shontele (281-647-6166) and make her aware of your activities so that she can make a note on your account in order to avoid a letter being sent out. If you are planning a major renovation to the exterior of your home by painting your house, replacing your fence or adding storage to your yard, remember to contact our neighborhood’s Architectural Review Committee. You can call MMC (our management company) to inquire about the proper forms needed to make your submission and they will gladly email the forms to you. We hope to have these forms available for download on the community website soon. The Architectural Review Committee will review the request to make sure the request meets the neighborhoods deed restrictions. The committee’s approval must be granted before making such changes to the facades of the home such as paint colors, roof colors and burglar bars (which are prohibited on the front doors). Also, sheds and canopies should not be visible from the street. If you submit a request to the Architectural Review Committee and it gets denied, please call MMC (our management company) to inquire as to why your project was denied. It may be as simple as additional information is needed (ex: paint color, pictures, lot survey). If you are thinking about a project you are invited to attend the monthly HOA meeting to get any questions answered prior to submission.

We are asking residents to place trash in plastics bags before putting them in trashcans. If there happens to be strong winds, the trash containers can easily blow over and scatter loose trash onto the nearby streets and yards. We appreciate your cooperation in helping to keep our community clean. And please remember to put away your trash containers immediately after trash day.

Please call 911 or the Sheriff’s Department if you see any suspicious activity, persons or vehicles. This area is monitored by surveillance cameras, however as homeowners, we need to assist the police and play an active role in keeping our community safe!

Home Safety: Harris County Sheriff’s Department Community Programs offer numerous services to our community. They provide vacation watch program and home security inspections to name just a few. The Sheriff’s Department will come out to your home and perform an inspection. If your home meets the requirements you may qualify for a discount on your homeowners insurance. Neighborhood Safety: We ask homeowners to be aware of their environment such as unknown cars idling, circling the neighborhood and driving slowly as if to stall for time. If you see this behavior, please call 911 or the sheriff’s department at 713-221-6000 and report the suspicious activity. It would be helpful if you could provide any of the following information to the 911 operator or sheriff’s department when you call: description of the vehicle, person(s), time of day and/or license plate number. Please be discrete and keep in mind safety is priority.

Also, if you notice a lot of traffic and multiple vehicles coming and going from a location please call the sheriff’s office and inform them of the high traffic volume of that location. It takes a community to keep a community safe. The HOA is cooperating with the local law enforcement in keeping this a safe community for our families.

Surveillance Cameras: Surveillance cameras have been installed at the pool house. The cameras are positioned to monitor the pool areas, the park grounds and the parking lot. HOA Board members have 24-hour access to view the ongoing activities of these areas. All suspicious activities will be reported to the Sheriff’s Office.

If you’re thinking about getting more involved in our community, joining a committee is a great start! Feel free to attend a monthly meeting to learn more about these opportunities. The Copperbrook HOA is looking for volunteers for the following committees: EVENTS COMMITTEE: The events committee oversees the newly organized welcoming committee, which will be providing welcome baskets to new homeowners. The event committee is also responsible for decorating the monuments at Christmastime organizing the bi-annual garage sales and hosting the neighborhood events such as National Night Out and Snow Day at the Park.

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH COMMITTEE: The Copperbrook neighborhood watch committee currently has 4 volunteers who have selected separate shifts to drive through the community daily. The HOA would like to add more volunteers to provide greater coverage throughout the 24-hour day. If you would like to volunteer, please call Milton Turner at 281-859-6044. We could really use more patrols from 10 PM to 6 AM. Volunteers can select their time and will be requested to drive down each street and report any suspicious activity to the police and to inform the neighborhood watch committee chair of any activity observed.

Cypress Woods High School AFJROTC was chosen to Present the Colors and the Missing Man Table and Honors Ceremony. Tina Clinkenbeard, CFISD Teacher, sang the National Anthem. State Representative Allen Fletcher gave the invocation and Senior Ryan Lancaster, from Cy-Fair High School, played TAPS. Kevin “Dauber” Lacz, former Navy SEAL sniper and combat medic was our guest speaker for the evening. Lacz spoke from the heart about his experiences as a Navy SEAL and the impact his service in the military had on his life. The Northwest Flyers Track Club is now registering all middle and high school athletes who wish to join for the 2016 season. The team is in its 29th year and is a member of USA Track & Field. A full program of “track” events such as sprints, hurdles, middle distance, distance and relays and “field” events such as long jump, triple jump, high jump, pole vault, discus, shot put and javelin is offered. It is an excellent “off-season” program for young athletes who currently compete on their middle school or high school track teams. FUN FAIR POSITIVE SOCCER

Fun-Fair-Positive Soccer (FFPS) early sign up for the Spring 2016 Season is underway. Sign up early to save up to $20. FFPS is for girls & boys, ages 4-18. All eight games are on Saturdays and begin April 9th. Teams practice once per week normally in the evening.

FFPS provides a very nice full uniform (shirt, shorts, socks) and a very nice trophy to all players. FFPS features equal playing time and play every position each game, balanced teams, no tryouts and only

GIRL SCOUTS OF SAN JACINTO COUNCIL COPPER CREEK MEADOWS COMMUNITY

Our Girl Scout Cookie sale for 2016 concluded on March 20th. Hope you stocked up, as there will be a long wait before cookie time rolls around again! Many thanks to all our cookie volunteers and to all the troops who participated. We appreciate the support of our friends and neighbors. ! Money earned from the annual Cookie sale funds individual troop activities and supports Council programs and camps. Some of our troops really made their cookie booths special.

Members of troop 113035 had a cookie booth on Valentine’s Day and report that they sold 200 boxes in 2 hours. These Girl Scouts really enjoy dressing up. They represented Vietnam at our World Thinking Day event and took part in our cafeteria-size Friendship Circle.

The World Thinking Day event drew almost 200 girls (and their leaders). Each troop represented a different country and presented national costumes, music, food and crafts at their booths. They also had some great swaps! Stick on mustaches, crepes and chocolate lollipops that were shaped like the Eiffel tower were featured at the “France” booth. Maracas made from plastic spoons and Easter eggs accompanied Fiesta costumes at the Mexico booth the special collars and headdresses seen at the Egypt booth looked as if they had come from the King Tut exhibit. Beautiful costumes, bright colors and lots of smiling faces made traveling “around the world” as easy as moving around the cafeteria! Our event started off with a flag ceremony and recitation of the Girl Scout Promise and finished up with a Friendship Circle and singing “Make New Friends.” We also collected donations for the Juliette Low World Friendship Fund.

Our STRIDERS event brought an afternoon of track and field events, with families coming out to cheer on their daughters. Girls jumped rope, ran in individual and relay races, threw softballs and jumped in standing and running events. We also had a few snacks to keep

up our strength for all those activities. Our spring Leader/Daughter event in Wimberley featured “Art in Bloom” crafts and activities, as well as the Talent Show, Dutch oven Cook-off and all our usual fun activities. Horseback riding and rock climbing, kayaking, shopping and eating the results of the Dutch Oven Cook-Off are all part of this exciting weekend.

Cadette Troop 16435 reports that they attended the “Be an Upstander” event at the Holocaust Museum. They earned the ‘Science of Happiness” badge and the Interact award towards the “Amaze Journey.”

April will be a busy time for our Cadette, Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts, with activities such as Cadette Weekend, Scouts at SAM and Girl Scout Law Day. Some of these older Girl Scouts will also be participating with adults as delegates to the annual Council Meeting.

Daisy Troop 113049 reports that they made “blessing bags” to be handed out to those in need.

We are getting close to the end of the school Scouting year, with a Bridging Ceremony planned for May, as troops move on to the next Girl Scout level. Summer brings resident, day and twilight camps and the chance to learn new skills, have fun and make new friends.

Some of our troops are also looking forward to the Girl Scout Night Sleepover at the Sugarland Skeeters stadium; they will be taking part in a parade around the stadium, enjoying the game and pitching their tents on the field afterwards!

Girl Scouting is open to all girls ages 5 (must be in kindergarten) through 18 who are willing to accept the Girl Scout Promise and Law. Girls may join at any level and no previous Scouting experience is required. Copper Creek Meadows serves girls in the residence areas for the elementary schools listed below, as well as the corresponding

middle and high schools. Home schoolers and private school students are always welcome. ERNEST (E.J.) ESCOBEDO JR., HAS EARNED EAGLE SCOUT

On February 1, 2016, Ernest (E.J.) Escobedo Jr., a member of Boy Scout Troop 202, has earned the highest rank of Eagle Scout. E.J. started in the Cub Scout program in the 3rd grade. In December of 2010 he earned his Arrow of Light and transitioned into Boy Scout Troop 202.

As a member of Troop 202, E.J. has held a variety of troop positions including Assistant Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader and many years of Troop Guide. E.J. has attended every troop campout, except for one, since joining Troop 202. Each summer he has been able to attend high adventure camps including twice to Philmont, Seabase in Florida and a trip to Colorado. He has spent one week of his winter break for the last 4 years volunteering at winter camp. He is also an O.A. member.

For his Eagle Project, E.J. refurbished and enhanced a memorial area and the local VFW Post 8905 on Hwy 290 in Cypress, Texas.

E.J. is currently a student at Langham Creek High School in the 11th grade. He is also a member of the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department and plans to attend college in the future.

Boy Scout Troop 10 meets every Tuesday night during the school year at the West Houston Church of Christ on West Road and Queenston. Our meetings begin at 7 PM. We spend our time working on merit badges, planning for our monthly camp outs and working on rank advancements.

The boys will be extra busy this month as they will be participating in our District Camporee where they compete with other Troops in the district in activities like tent races and archery! In addition, they will have a booth at the annual Scout Fair held at NRG Arena on April 16th. They will be building sandwiches and providing beverages for everyone who comes by the booth. We hope to see you out there! The Troop has just started a new service project collecting empty toilet paper and paper towel rolls.

DAISY DASH 5K FUN RUN AND KIDS 1 MILE RUN

The Daisy Dash 5K Fun Run and Kids 1 Mile Run will be held Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the Jersey Village Park Pavilion in Jersey Village, Texas. The route will start at the park and meander around the lovely neighborhoods of Jersey Village then pick up at the hike and bike trail which loops back around to the park for the finish line. The timed 5K will start at 8 AM. Awards will be given to the top runners in each age group as well as to the top overall finishers. The Kids 1 Mile Run will start at 9:30 AM. The Daisy Dash 5K Fun Run is hosted and sponsored by Chapter FD, Houston, TX of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
