NOTICE!

Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 105 is contracting to purchase drinking water from two nearby districts while MUD 105 builds new water treatment facilities for its system. Construction of the interconnect facilities with the other districts will be complete within two weeks. When the new water supplies are activated, there may be a temporary discoloration of water coming from the new sources. Also, water pressure may be lower while receiving water through the interconnect facilities. Water from other districts will meet Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) standards in all respects.

To ensure adequate water in MUD 105 while new facilities are under construction, MUD 105 will employ Stage 1 Drought Response Measures to reduce water consumption. This means outdoor water use will be limited to Tuesdays and Saturdays for customers with even numbered addresses and Wednesdays and Sundays for customers with odd-numbered addresses. Watering of common areas such as esplanades, parks and sports fields will be limited to Mondays and Fridays. Outdoor water use will be prohibited between 6:00 AM and 9:00 PM. Salute to Our Heroes will honor the brave men and women who have served to preserve our freedom and liberty. Proceeds from this event will fund scholarships for graduating students from CFISD. The event will be hosted by the Houston Astros announcer Bill Brown and will feature Army Ranger Involved in “Black Hawk Down” Mission Keni Thomas, Bronze Star for Valor recipient, is an engaging speaker whose story captivates audiences from beginning to end. The highly successful movie “Blackhawk Down” is based on his Army Company’s mission in Mogadishu, Somalia. In addition to speaking, Thomas is a recording artist with two critically acclaimed projects. The evening will include a Missing Man Table and Honors Ceremony, silent and live auctions and live entertainment. The CyFair Educational Foundation has awarded over 4.6 million dollars in student scholarships since the Foundation’s inception in 1970.

February 7th - PIE Student Mentor Training – 6 PM to 8 PM, Berry Center. Training for individuals committed to serve as a role model and friend to CFISD students. District approved mentors meet with students weekly during school hours on school campuses. Along with this two hour training, an application and criminal background check are required.

February 9th - VIPS General Meeting – 9:30 AM to 12 PM, Berry Center. Open to all CFISD volunteers, parents, staff and community members. Get the latest information on CFISD volunteering and learn through networking!

February 15th - VIPS Sooper Puppy Training – 9:30 PM to 11:30 AM, Berry Center. Sooper Puppy is a first grade class series dealing with age appropriate life lessons, facing dilemmas and arriving at solutions by making good choices.

February 16th - VIPS TAG Team Meeting – 9:30 AM to 12 PM, Berry Center. Informational meeting for individuals who are interested in working directly with students, to help them reach their full academic potential.

Northwest Flyers Youth Track Club Begins 25th Season

The Northwest Flyers Youth Track Club will begin the 2012 season with its first practice during the week of February 13th. The team consists of boys and girls, ages 6 -18, provides a full program of track and field events and is affiliated with USA Track & Field (USATF).

The club was founded 25 years ago by Olympic gold medalist Fred Newhouse to foster the development of youth track & field in the Northwest Houston area.
