Offical Newsletter for Nottingham Country, Sections 1-9

November 2011 NOTTINGHAM HAPPENINGS Many homeowners will begin receiving letters from our management company to re-sod their yards, remove dead trees and shrubs. As previously stated in past newsletter columns, we have asked homeowners to do minimal watering in order to preserve their landscaping. About 80% or more did this and their landscaping survived for the most part. For those who chose not to for whatever reason, the time has come that you must replace what you lost. Our deed restrictions and guidelines call for all homes to have maintained lawns and appropriate shrubbery. Right now there are way too many homes with no lawns whatsoever due to the lack of watering. We will not permit dead lawns and shrubbery to bring down home values in NC. Yes, it’s somewhat expensive to do this but it must be done. Bottom line is that if 80% to 90% of homeowners can maintain lawns this past summer, why are there a few who cannot do so? Probably best to get it done now while the weather is a bit cooler. We continue to hear complaints from some homeowners about their neighbors setting out their trash cans and other materials on the weekend and leaving it there days before our vendor comes by to pick it up. Please refrain from doing this. If you are perhaps trimming trees and need to pile it up at the curb ahead of time, it’s understandable and we can live with that as it is not something one does on a weekly basis. Trash cans should not be left at the curb except the morning of the pickup. We have backdoor trash pick-up so really the only things that need to go to the curb are grass trimmings and larger items. Please observe this requirement and keep the neighborhood looking neat and clean. You may have noticed that Harris County is doing some repairs on the neighborhood streets. We were told by the County that they have not done repairs out here for years as there used to be a homeowner who reported bad streets years ago and since they did not receive any calls lately, they have not come out. They have now been made aware of street issues, so hopefully, we will see some repairs done. The NCCIA annual meeting will be held at the community center on Tuesday, November 15th. Might be a good thing to come by and meet the board members and learn more about the happenings in your community. A community is only as strong as the residents who reside there. How to address the Board directly The monthly meetings of the Board of Directors are held on the second Thursday, at 6:30 PM at the Mason Creek Community Center Houghton Room. The facility is located at the corner of Houghton and Kingsland. All members are welcome to attend the meetings. However, due to time constraints, we cannot allow audience members to speak at the meeting unless they contact us ahead of time and get put on the agenda. As much as I dislike telling that to someone who has taken the time out of his or her schedule to come to the meeting with a concern, I must respect the time of the volunteers on the Board as well. To get on the agenda, simply call SCS Management Services, Inc. at 281-463-1777, ext., 7132.

Be Thankful, Happy Thanksgiving! 1
