By now, all residents should have received their invoice for the 2012 Homeowner Association assessments. The deadline for the payment of $360 is January 31, 2012. If you need to establish a payment plan due to financial difficulties, please do not hesitate to contact KPM Management at 281-685-3090. Residents are also encouraged to visit the community website (www.raintreevillage.com) for current information. It also includes a feature whereby the HOA Assessments may be paid through a secured website with a credit card.

By visiting the website, residents are encouraged to establish a user name and password as well as provide a email address. The association intends to utilize the email addresses captured to send information on upcoming events or other community alerts. Any information provided on the Raintree Village HOA website is deemed private information and treated in this manner.

ANNUAL ASSESSMENTS!!

January 31st: Unpaid Assessments become delinquent.

February 1st: Late fees and interest begin and Late Notices are mailed out for all delinquent accounts.

March 1st: A Warning Letter is mailed out on all delinquent accounts.

April 1st: A Final Notice is mailed (via certified mail) on all delinquent accounts. There is a $35 charge to the delinquent account at this time.

May 1st: If payment still has not been received or a payment plan has not been entered, delinquent accounts are sent to the Attorney at this time. The Attorney can file a lien and all legal fees will be billed back to the delinquent account.

Payment Options: If you are unable to make payment in full, please contact KPM Management so that you can make payment arrangements. You will still pay interest on the unpaid balance, but you will not be sent to the attorney.

Statements will be mailed the first of every month for accounts making payments.

Quite a few homeowners have started making monthly payments ahead of time, so that when the assessment becomes due they are already paid.

Methods of payment: CHECK OR MONEY ORDER: Cash is not accepted. Please make payment with check or money order made payable to your community.

ONLINE: You can now make payments online using Visa, MasterCard, Discover or with a checking account. There is a service fee of $14.95 for one time payments or $2 per transaction if you set up recurring payments. Go to www.KPMCommunities.com.

All throughout the neighborhood there are good people who find loose dogs and are wondering what to do. If you call a shelter, they are sure to be put to death in three days, so no one wants to do that.

A simple way to make sure your dog isn’t in that category is too buy a collar and put an engraved tag on it with your phone number on it.

It’s about a fifteen dollar investment, but well worth it. So if you can’t be responsible with your dogs, at least put a collar and tag on them, so all of the pet lovers out there can do what’s right and can call you.

Texas Parking Law

We have received numerous complaints regarding vehicles, trailers and other items parked on the streets. As neighbors we must adhere to state law as follows: • Vehicles parked on street must show valid current registration & inspection • 30 feet from stop sign • 20 feet from cross walk • 18” from curb – parallel to curb, turned toward curb, car locked • WITH the traffic direction • No more than 48 hours on a public street – sticker after 48 hours/ tow after additional 48 hours • No parking on the sidewalks (except where sidewalk crosses driveway) • 15 feet from fire hydrant • Cannot obstruct another’s driveway Let’s be mindful to not park in front of a fellow neighbor’s home and mailbox. If you own a boat, trailer and other vehicles our streets should not be treated as an extension of your driveway. We encourage you to not keep such vehicles parked on our public streets

Some residential streets become more like an obstacle course and creating blind spots while driving through the neighborhood. More importantly, parking on some residential streets can make it more difficult for emergency vehicles to service our area.

Harris County LEASH LAW

Animals that are not properly restrained pose a threat to all our residents. While you may know your pet is friendly, an animal running at someone who is walking by is very scary for that person.

Many children are afraid of animals and become frightened, which could result in the child getting hurt trying to avoid the animal. Harris County Animal Control advises, “All dogs and cats must be kept under restraint while in the unincorporated areas of Harris County, Texas. The custodian of a dog or cat is not authorized to have, harbor or keep any unlicensed dog or cat, nor to allow any dog or cat to become a stray.”

Restraint is defined as “the control of a dog or cat under the following circumstances: 1. When it is controlled by a line or leash not more than six (6) feet in length, if the line or leash is held by a human being, who is capable of controlling or governing the dog or cat in question 2. When it is within a fully enclosed vehicle 3. When it is on the premise of the custodian and the animal does not have access to sidewalk or street.”

While it may be nice to have your animal out in the yard while you work or play, it is against the law, unless the animal is properly restrained. Let’s all help keep our community a safe and comfortable place for all our residents by being responsible pet owners. This will not only protect anyone who may be walking or bicycling in the area, but also the pet owner who could be held legally responsible or possibly sued for failing to properly restrain their pet.

RESIDENTIAL ADDRESS

A number of our residential homes need to ensure the address clearly visible and not obstructed by plants or other items. If you or someone in your home requires emergency attention, the lack of a visible address may result in delayed assistance. Reflective numbering on the curb nearest the driveway is considered the most effective. Many of the newer homes have the address located on the homes under an external light. If this is the case, it’s critical to ensure the address is not obstructed by plants.

THE STANDING RULES FOR RAINTREE VILLAGE HOA BOARD MEETINGS

The Board of Directors feels it serves you best when the Board meetings are conducted in an orderly manner. The HOA Board Meetings are held to conduct Association business. Your cooperation in this regard is requested. Parliamentary Procedure is followed at this Meeting.

There are two sessions at the HOA Board Meetings, an open session when members may be present and an executive session when no members are permitted.

Board Meeting will begin with the open session at 7:00 PM until 7:15 PM when that time slot has been filled, members must wait until the next month’s meeting to be placed on the agenda.

Your opinion is important to the Board of Directors. The Board desires to hear from Members who have information concerning the Association. During the portion of the Meeting in which the Chair accepts questions or comments from the floor, please proceed in the following manner.

1. If you wish to address the Board, please contact the Board at least 10 days prior to Meeting to be added to the agenda. You also have to state the topic to be discussed and stay on that topic only.

2. Any Member wishing to address the Board shall speak no more than two (2) minutes.

3. No Member may speak more than once on the subject and no more than two (2) minutes, until all Members who wish to speak have done so.

Trash Pickup Services

Royal Waste Management encourages residents to call in complaints regarding trash pickup. The crews are participating in a competition whereby the best crew receives a cash bonus at yearend. All complaints are taken seriously and posted internally for all crews to view. Additionally, the crew suffers deductions for each complaint. If you have a complaint regarding the trash service, contact Charles Gregory (Operations Manager) at 713-526-1536. Let’s be mindful that as residents, we must do our part by placing waste in trash bags.

If you can’t lift the bag or trash receptacle it’s too full. You should consider breaking up your trash into more bags. We encourage you to remove all trash receptacles from curbside before you retire in the evenings. Additionally, the crew cannot pickup paint and other hazardous materials. You must take such items either to a Harris County or City of Houston hazardous waste dumpsite.

StreetLights

We want all of our streetlights to work. A lighted area is a safer area. If a streetlight is out in your area, please go to www.centerpointenergy. com and report it. Once on the website, click on “electricity” then” residential.” On the left side, you should click on “report a streetlight outage” to enter the required information. Each light pole should have a number on it. When reporting the out or malfunctioning light, give them the pole number, closest street address, contact information, an email address and the number of street lights you would like to report.

FLOWERS • Plants to set: Alyssum, Calendula, Canterbury Bells, Carnations, Columbine, Cornflower. Daisies, Delphinium, Hollyhock, Larkspur, Lobelia, Nicotiana, Pansy, Petunia, Phlox (Louisiana), Shrimp Plant, Snapdragon, Stock and Verbena.

VEGETABLES • Plant beets, broccoli (plants), brussel sprouts (plants), cabbage (plants), carrots, cauliflower (plants), celery, chinese cabbage (plants), chives collards (plants), endive, kale, lettuce (leaf and head), mustard, onions (plants), parsley, garden peas, radishes, rutabagas, spinach, tomato (seeds) and turnips.

TREES AND SHRUBS • Finish all transplanting, get everything in the ground for a good spring spurt of growth. Transplant balled and burlap, containergrown, bare-root deciduous evergreen trees, shrubs, roses and vines while still dormant.

• Finish pruning roses. Weed and cultivate lightly all beds. Replenish mulch as needed.

• Control early spring insects like thrips on glads and aphids on young tender growth. Spray with Malathion, Diazinon or Orthene.

The two “Stepping Into The Future” scholarship recipients will be announced at the Katy ISD Awards Ceremonies during May.

Katy Tween/Teen Talent Showcase Competition

Global Arm, Inc. and Teens Exercising Extraordinary Success (T.E.E.S.) hosted the inaugural Katy Tween Teen Talent Showcase Competition on Saturday, December 3, 2011, at Zo-ca-lo Lounge (510 Mason Road). Contestants from Katy ISD and Ft. Bend County ISD entered the competition. Along with their parents, they networked with many recording industry professionals and received valuable advice on career paths, personality, stage presence and business matters. Lunch was provided courtesy of Chick-fil-A (369 South Mason Road). Music industry

Two of the contestants performed original numbers and the others treated the audience to covers by Carrie Underwood, Selena Gomez, Etta James and Jamie Fox. Vocal ability wasn’t the only surprise of the day - two of the contestants performed their numbers by playing the guitar. The 1st place winner of the showcase was Ms. Reagan Douglas, of Katy, TX. Ms. Douglas performed a song she wrote entitled, Till The End (dedicated to Cancer victims), with her guitar; 2nd place winner was Ms. Skyler Sadler (Katy, TX) who performed At Last by Etta James; and the 3rd place winner was Ms. Kaitlyn Wright (Katy, TX) who performed Change by Carrie Underwood. Each winner received a trophy, courtesy of Katy Trophies. 2nd and 3rd place winners received a Chili’s Gift Card, courtesy of Don McGill Toyota. The 1st place winner won a package valued at over $16,000 which consisted of a complimentary studio session at Music World Studios (courtesy of Matthew Knowles), a complimentary photo shoot (courtesy of Jamie LeBlanc Photography), a featured song on Coast 2 Coast Mix tape hosted by Wildman Teddy T (courtesy of Star Quality Entourage) and a featured song on the upcoming film soundtrack starring Snoop Dog (courtesy of Vision World Entertainment).

We would like to invite children from 4 yrs (as of Sept. 1, 2011) to 5th grade to join us as we enjoy another season of T-Ball, Kid & Coach Pitch. We look forward to teaching your children the skills and watching them enhance their abilities. Registration forms are now available in our office or you can register online at www.bearcreekchurch.tv/ sports. We will offer several evaluation days so we can check on their skills so we can even out the teams. The dates for these are February 27th, 28th and March 1st, between 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM. Also on March 3rd 10:00 AM - 12:00 noon. It only takes a few minutes for us to run them through the drills and then we will contact each player about practices. After March 5th we cannot guarantee a place on a team. They will practice for one hour a week on a Monday, Tuesday or Thursday. Houston Fire Fighters Making Houston the City with the Biggest Heart FOR MDA

It’s official, Houstonians through the Houston Fire Fighters raised a record breaking $509,961 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association making them the #1 Fill-the-Boot department in the country for the last 9 out of 10 years raising more than $6.3 million during that time.

For more than 50 years fire fighters have helped MDA by filling their boots with donations from the citizens of their community. Houston Professional Fire Fighters Local #341 will begin their 2012 Fill-theBoot fundraising campaign for the Muscular Dystrophy Association on Saturday February 11, 2012 during the hours of 10 AM and 2 PM. Fire Fighters will also be out March 10th, April 14th and May 12th to collect funds for the campaign.

The Fire Fighters rely on support and donations from the community for the success of the campaign. Proceeds raised during the street-side campaign will help support MDA services and research programs, including MDA’s outpatient clinics at Texas Children’s Hospital and The Methodist Neurological Institute. Money raised from Fill-the-Boot also sends young people ages 6-17 to MDA summer camp, held in Burton, Texas.
