Highlights of neighborhood crime for October - early November 2011, courtesy of www.CrimeReports.com. 10/09/2011: 17300 block Maple Gate Way, 10 AM, vehicle burglary 10/17/2011: 17200 block Eden Falls Circle, noon, home window broken 10/17/2011: 17200 block Valhallah Way, 1 PM, criminal mischief 10/21/2011; 17000 block Terrace Park Drive, 1:24 PM, home burglary 11/01/2011: 17300 block Autumn Field Court, 3:20 PM, home burglary Remember to keep your eyes open in the neighborhood and, if you see someone or something that doesn’t look right, call the Sheriff’s Dept. at 911 (emergency) or 713-221-6000 (non-emergency). In addition, a resident was robbed at night at the gas pumps at the FM 529 WalMart recently. When possible, don’t gas up alone and after dark. If something doesn’t look right, don’t stop. Also, it is a good idea to keep a copy of the front and back of each of your credit cards and driver’s license, so that you can report quickly to the credit card issuer that the card was stolen. They can deactivate your card(s) immediately to prevent the thief from using it.
Yard Maintenance
Winter is here. Remember to keep your lawns and trees/shrubs trimmed and neat, fertilize and water as needed (the drought is still here). If your grass is dead or very thin under your trees, the trees may need to be thinned to let sunlight through to the grass. It also is a good time to remove weeds from the flower beds and lawns, add mulch where needed and possibly add compost to improve soil quality. Keeping up with maintenance in the upcoming cool weather will make our yards easier to maintain next spring and summer.
December Community Event
Due to various conflicts, the annual December Sheffield community event will not be held this year. The Board wishes all Sheffield residents a safe, happy and healthy Holiday season.
