The Black family at 2915 Fort Stockton Drive were the winners for December Yard of the Month. The sign is placed in the yard for a month and the winner receives a gift card in appreciation for keeping their yard in great shape.

SENIOR SOCIAL GROUP

The Senior Social will meet the last Thursday in February from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM at the clubhouse. Please bring your lunch and drink. Come visit and play games.

CLUBHOUSE RENTALS

Rentals are done by contacting Pat Hillen at 281-578-6881. Fees are $75 for a 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM event and $150 for a 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM event on a first come, first served basis. The security deposit is $300. The clubhouse holds 98 people, has 4 six foot tables, 4 eight foot tables and 48 chairs. It has been freshly repainted, so please remember to take care when renting the clubhouse. Hand soap, hand towels, toilet paper and a trash can liner for each trashcan is provided. The clubhouse has a kitchen with refrigerator, stove and microwave oven, men’s and women’s restroom with a diaper changing table. Resident must be current on all dues to rent the clubhouse. Resident must be present at clubhouse at all times during their event. No alcohol of any type is allowed in the clubhouse. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!

HOLIDAY DECORATING CONTEST

We appreciate all of the homes that were decorated during the holiday season. The winners were 1st Place - the Black family at 2915 Ft. No one is to be in or around the detention pond playing, riding their bikes or motorized vehicle, climbing or crawling in the pipes this is very dangerous. No trash or clippings of trees and grass is to be dumped in the pond.

Any injury sustained while playing in or around the detention pond will be the responsibility of the parent.

Anyone being in or throwing trash in the detention pond will be charged with Criminal Trespassing subject to a fine or jail by the Sheriff.

These ponds are to help our subdivision in rain and flood. The detention ponds will hopefully help our homes from being flooded.

We love our community and so should you! Besides being a nuisance, uncollected dog waste is a serious problem for our Association. Next time you’re tempted to leave your dog’s droppings on the lawn, please remember these facts: • The Environmental Protection Agency is becoming aggressive about enforcing the Clean Water Act. Our Association could be fined if dog waste goes uncollected.

• Uncollected dog waste may lead to a special assessment. If fined by the EPA, the Association could face a potential special assessment that would be levied against all members - not just dog owners.

• The appearance and quality of the common areas are known to affect home sales - not just for how much they sell, but how quickly.

• The more residents complain about dog waste, the more time the manager must spend on enforcement rather than serving the Association.

• Uncollected dog waste spreads disease and attracts rodents who feed on pet waste.

We love dogs - we really do. That’s why the association is committed to enforcing the county leash law on association property. According to the U.S. Humane Society, an unleashed dog has an average life span of less than four years. Allowing your dog to run free threatens your dog’s health and welfare and the happiness it brings to you.

RECIPES Three Cheese Chicken Bake

INGREDIENTS: 1/4 cup chopped onion 1/4 cup chopped green pepper 1 tbs and 1-1/2 tsp butter or margarine 1/2 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup, undiluted 1/2 (8 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained 1/2 (2 ounce) jar chopped pimientos, drained 1/4 teaspoon dried basil 1/2 (8 ounce) package noodles, cooked 1-1/2 cups diced cooked chicken 1 cup ricotta or cottage cheese 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese 2 tablespoons buttered bread crumbs DIRECTIONS: In a skillet, sauté onion and green pepper in butter until tender.

Remove from the heat. Stir in the soup, mushrooms, pimientos and basil; set aside.

In a large bowl, combine noodles, chicken and cheeses; add mushroom sauce and mix well. Transfer to a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking dish. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees F for 40 to 45 minutes or until bubbly. Sprinkle with crumbs. Bake 15 minutes longer.

Baked Potato Skins

INGREDIENTS: 4 large baking potatoes, baked 3 tablespoons vegetable oil 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder 1/4 teaspoon paprika 1/8 teaspoon pepper 8 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled 1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese 1/2 cup sour cream 4 green onions, sliced

DIRECTIONS: Cut potatoes in half lengthwise; scoop out pulp, leaving a 1/4-in. shell (save pulp for another use). Place potatoes skins on a greased baking sheet. Combine oil, Parmesan cheese, salt, garlic powder, paprika and pepper; brush over both sides of skins. Bake at 475 degrees F for 7 minutes; turn. Bake until crisp, about 7 minutes more.

Sprinkle bacon and cheddar cheese inside skins. Bake 2 minutes longer or until the cheese is melted. Top with sour cream and onions.

Serve immediately.

FLOWERS • Plants to set: Alyssum, Calendula, Canterbury Bells, Carnations, Columbine, Cornflower. Daisies, Delphinium, Hollyhock, Larkspur, Lobelia, Nicotiana, Pansy, Petunia, Phlox (Louisiana), Shrimp Plant, Snapdragon, Stock and Verbena.

VEGETABLES • Plant beets, broccoli (plants), brussel sprouts (plants), cabbage (plants), carrots, cauliflower (plants), celery, chinese cabbage (plants), chives collards (plants), endive, kale, lettuce (leaf and head), mustard, onions (plants), parsley, garden peas, radishes, rutabagas, spinach, tomato (seeds) and turnips.

TREES AND SHRUBS • Finish all transplanting, get everything in the ground for a good spring spurt of growth. Transplant balled and burlap, containergrown, bare-root deciduous evergreen trees, shrubs, roses and vines while still dormant.

• Finish pruning roses. Weed and cultivate lightly all beds. Replenish mulch as needed.

• Control early spring insects like thrips on glads and aphids on young tender growth. Spray with Malathion, Diazinon or Orthene.

• At the end of February: peach, apple and pear fruit must be thinned to insure quality production at harvest.

• Give groundcovers a haircut. They will spread faster.

• Divide daylilies, daisies and other perennials now.

Katy Tween/Teen Talent Showcase Competition

Global Arm, Inc. and Teens Exercising Extraordinary Success (T.E.E.S.) hosted the inaugural Katy Tween Teen Talent Showcase Competition on Saturday, December 3, 2011, at Zo-ca-lo Lounge (510 Mason Road). Contestants from Katy ISD and Ft. Bend County ISD entered the competition. Along with their parents, they networked with many recording industry professionals and received valuable advice on career paths, personality, stage presence and business matters. Two of the contestants performed original numbers and the others treated the audience to covers by Carrie Underwood, Selena Gomez, Etta James and Jamie Fox. Vocal ability wasn’t the only surprise of the day - two of the contestants performed their numbers by playing the guitar. The 1st place winner of the showcase was Ms. Reagan Douglas, of Katy, TX. Ms. Douglas performed a song she wrote entitled, Till The End (dedicated to Cancer victims), with her guitar; 2nd place winner was Ms. Skyler Sadler (Katy, TX) who performed At Last by Etta James; and the 3rd place winner was Ms. Kaitlyn Wright (Katy, TX) who performed Change by Carrie Underwood. Each winner received a trophy, courtesy of Katy Trophies. 2nd and 3rd place winners received a Chili’s Gift Card, courtesy of Don McGill Toyota. The 1st place winner won a package valued at over $16,000 which consisted of a complimentary studio session at Music World Studios (courtesy of Matthew Knowles), a complimentary photo shoot (courtesy of Jamie LeBlanc Photography), a featured song on Coast 2 Coast Mix tape hosted by Wildman Teddy T (courtesy of Star Quality Entourage) and a featured song on the upcoming film soundtrack starring Snoop Dog (courtesy of Vision World Entertainment).

We would like to invite children from 4 yrs (as of Sept. 1, 2011) to 5th grade to join us as we enjoy another season of T-Ball, Kid & Coach Pitch. We look forward to teaching your children the skills and watching them enhance their abilities. Registration forms are now available in our office or you can register online at www.bearcreekchurch.tv/ sports. We will offer several evaluation days so we can check on their skills so we can even out the teams. The dates for these are February 27th, 28th and March 1st, between 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM. Also on March 3rd 10:00 AM - 12:00 noon. It only takes a few minutes for us to run them through the drills and then we will contact each player about practices. After March 5th we cannot guarantee a place on a team. They will practice for one hour a week on a Monday, Tuesday or Thursday.
