FROM THE LAKESIDE RESIDENTIAL BOARD GETTING INVOLVED
As a homeowner, your involvement is one of the cogs that keep this community going. Whether it’s running for the HOA Board, being a block captain or just voting, we need as many homeowners as possible engaged in some way. LRCA no longer has a “developer” in charge of maintaining common areas or enforcing deed restrictions; your HOA does that. Community events do not just “happen;” people volunteer and take time out of their schedule to help foster community spirit and growth. Participating in an election is often overlooked by many Americans, for a myriad of reasons (“not enough time,” “too busy,” “don’t know/don’t care,” etc.). Ironically, being a voter on any level is a role that we will all fight to never give up, but that few are actually willing to practice. Homeowners’ associations everywhere almost always have problems meeting quorum every year when it comes to neighborhood elections and our community is no different. At the last election in March 2011, we came very close, but fell short of quorum. As a result, three people (out of 5 directors) were appointed to one-year terms, but these terms expire this year, as well as another existing position. This means there will be four positions up for election this December and my hope is that many of you take advantage of your privilege of being a voter. Please contact PCMI (281-870-0585) to be placed on the ballot if you would like to run for a position. Inform your neighbors that you are running and get the word out. Ballots and proxies will be mailed out by PCMI this fall and elections will take place at the Annual Homeowners Meeting in December. Additional details will be mailed and posted at the community website: www.villagesofcypresslakes.info. If you cannot run for a position, please take the opportunity to vote or at least complete and return the proxy so we can meet quorum requirements (10% of the total number of homeowners = 81). HOLIDAY DECORATING CONTEST
Join in the fun while celebrating the holiday spirit by decorating your home this season! Judging for the 2nd Annual Lakeside Residential Holiday Decorating Contest will be completed by December 16, 2011 and prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place!
