During the month of December, Larry Ingham resigned from the Board of Directors. The board held a special session to discuss the vacancy and appointed Lisa Wycoff to serve as his replacement.

New Website

A new website will be available for Williamsburg Hamlet. We will provide the web address shortly, but a link should be available from www.pmghouston.com now. When the new website is up, you will need to contact PMG to obtain your ID number for full access to the site. From the new website, you will be able to view our deed restrictions, bylaws, governing documents, financial reports, minutes from meetings of the Board of Directors, architectural review forms, pool information and general community information. The old website ceased to be updated in October and is no longer an official website of the community or the board of directors. We apologize for the communication gap between the two websites, but we appreciate your patience as we transition!

Deed Restrictions

As a new year begins, please take some time to take an assessment of the exterior of your home. A fresh coat of paint is a solid investment in preserving your home. Approved colors for the Hamlet are earth tones. Please submit an architectural review and consider this important home maintenance responsibility. If you have replaced your siding and have yet to paint, please do so. Tending to your landscaping can boost your curb appeal, as well as save you greatly in home repair in the long run. Overgrown plants near your home can conceal insect infestation and damage your foundation and home exterior. Now is a good time to take inventory and prune your plants.

Architectural Review

A new “Application for Approval to Modify Home or Property� is available. This year there have been some changes in the Texas State laws and our deed restrictions have evolved to reflect those changes. The new laws allow for solar energy devices, the display of U.S., Texas and U.S. armed forces flags, and rainwater harvesting systems, as well as certain types of shingles. All of these additions to your home would require an architectural review and are only allowed in certain places on your home/lot. The deed restriction changes will be available on the new website once it is up - there will be a link from www.pmghouston.com. To avoid penalties, please complete the approval form before you begin any change or addition to your home, which will affect the exterior appearance of your property. A Harris County Sheriff should be dispatched for the incident. (Williamsburg Hamlet’s contract deputy is JR BYRD and he will also receive a copy of your report.) STATE LAWS PROHIBIT POSTINGS

No postings of any kind on Street Signs, school signs on any other county information signs. This is a violation of State Laws. Our deputies have been asked to start ticketing those posting on these signs.

The Architectural Review Committee (ARC) exists in order to maintain a quality of workmanship and materials, harmony of external design and color to enhance existing and proposed structures.

The committee gives consideration to the location of the improvements with respect to the topography involved, the elevation of the finished grade in regards to flooding, drainage requirements, along with regard to both boundary and building lines. The objective is to maintain continuity of architectural standards, appeal and safety.

Homeowners are required to apply for approval of any home repairs or improvements BEFORE they are initiated. The ARC application form is made available monthly through this newsletter along with directions for its filing. Without approval, the project may have to be completely re-done to specifications in deed restrictions at your expense.

Please note that color swatches taken from the internet are not reliable and, therefore, are unacceptable for submission with your ARC form. The paint company itself provides such a disclaimer on its website also. Accurate color samples are available at local paint stores for their product. Homeowners have always been required to supply notification of change of address to the management company, (PCMI) in writing. Without such notification, communications, such as the announcement of the Annual Meeting, the availability of pool tags and pertinent forms such as Proxy or Rights of Amenities, will be lost in the mail. The “Stepping Into The Future” scholarship program is available to seniors graduating with GPA’s ranging from 2.5 to 3.7. The scholarships are geared towards those students showing academic promise through a combination of demonstrated academic achievement and leadership potential. The two “Stepping Into The Future” scholarship recipients will be announced at the Katy ISD Awards Ceremonies during May.

Katy Tween/Teen Talent Showcase Competition

Global Arm, Inc. and Teens Exercising Extraordinary Success (T.E.E.S.) hosted the inaugural Katy Tween Teen Talent Showcase Competition on Saturday, December 3, 2011, at Zo-ca-lo Lounge (510 Mason Road). Contestants from Katy ISD and Ft. Bend County ISD entered the competition. Along with their parents, they networked with many recording industry professionals and received valuable advice on career paths, personality, stage presence and business matters. Two of the contestants performed original numbers and the others treated the audience to covers by Carrie Underwood, Selena Gomez, Etta James and Jamie Fox. Vocal ability wasn’t the only surprise of the day - two of the contestants performed their numbers by playing the guitar. The 1st place winner of the showcase was Ms. Reagan Douglas, of Katy, TX. Ms. Douglas performed a song she wrote entitled, Till The End (dedicated to Cancer victims), with her guitar; 2nd place winner was Ms. Skyler Sadler (Katy, TX) who performed At Last by Etta James; and the 3rd place winner was Ms. Kaitlyn Wright (Katy, TX) who performed Change by Carrie Underwood. Each winner received a trophy, courtesy of Katy Trophies. 2nd and 3rd place winners received a Chili’s Gift Card, courtesy of Don McGill Toyota. Community Events Keep Kids Connected

Valentine Card Making event on February 4th in the afternoon at Bonnie Holland Elementary. Last year the event was put together by a few moms in a playgroup and over 50 people showed up and they raised almost $2800. This year they are moving to a bigger venue and hope to have more children making cards for the kids at MD Anderson.

Bingo Fundraiser on Saturday, March 3rd at 6 pm at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Old Katy. The event will start with an enchilada dinner from 5-6 pm for $6 for anyone who is interested.

The Bingo Fundraiser is $25 per person for 12 games (on 9 cards for each game) with a free bingo dauber for each player. For more information, email keepkidsconnected@gmail.com.

Keep Kids Connected was created to help kids stay connected to family and friends while they undergo their treatment for cancer or any other life-threatening illness. The idea for the organization was created by Caitlyn Mortus who is, herself, a cancer survivor. While going through her treatments, she was given a Netbook computer from a family friend. The computer kept her in contact with her friends and helped keep her spirits up when she was in the hospital for her treatments or unable to have visitors. Her wish is that every kid battling cancer or any life-threatening illness be given a computer so they can stay connected to their family and friends while they are going through their treatments. Her wish has become our mission.

It’s official, Houstonians through the Houston Fire Fighters raised a record breaking $509,961 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association making them the #1 Fill-the-Boot department in the country for the last 9 out of 10 years raising more than $6.3 million during that time.

For more than 50 years fire fighters have helped MDA by filling their boots with donations from the citizens of their community. Houston Professional Fire Fighters Local #341 will begin their 2012 Fill-theBoot fundraising campaign for the Muscular Dystrophy Association on Saturday February 11, 2012 during the hours of 10 AM and 2 PM. Fire Fighters will also be out March 10th, April 14th and May 12th to collect funds for the campaign.

The Fire Fighters rely on support and donations from the community for the success of the campaign. Proceeds raised during the street-side campaign will help support MDA services and research programs, including MDA’s outpatient clinics at Texas Children’s Hospital and The Methodist Neurological Institute. Money raised from Fill-the-Boot also sends young people ages 6-17 to MDA summer camp, held in Burton, Texas.
