WEST MEMORIAL COMMUNITY NEWSLETTER

West Memorial 2012

Here we are finishing January and preparing for February. Our local taxes hopefully paid. Our New Year’s resolutions still fresh in our memory. With Valentine’s Day just a few short weeks away. Are we prepping our lawn equipment for the Spring-time first cut? Thinking about reparations to our hard hit lawns? Is our Federal Taxes looming into the foremost place on our To Do list? Or is all of this just a side-bar to more important issues? We all know that, individually, we have different situations in our lives at different times. We can only reflect on just so much at one time. Our priorities need to be what we choose to handle first. We know there are wise choices that can help us do what is best. But, the truth is, that some of us wear shoes without socks. Then there are those that don’t even want to wear shoes! So we agree to disagree on what is important. I’ve got that. But suggestions and possibilities is good to know about. So let us know about yours. Visit our website and send us your suggestions especially those that are affordable and people enjoy doing for the whole. We are adjusting to new regulations over HOA’s. Most of it is good. Some of it may not have been digested yet. Don’t let any of it confuse us from what we need. Our home prices and expenses are attached to what other’s perceived to call value. Insurance, taxes and personal expenses is what we should be focused on. I hear all the arguments on Homeowner Associations and their Directors. I remember not long ago talking about letters from a Management Company. But instead of getting mad, I simply chose to look into it more. They need us every 4th Tuesday of each month, but mainly in May as our annual meeting has to occur. This is crucial. This is how new blood is pumped in and safety valves are installed. Here, in West Memorial, your neighbors set aside their personal time and efforts to keep this neighborhood in reasonably good shape. Some help out with phone calls to the Management (SGS), which we hire to keep things going well. Others set aside their time to help with policing the signs that pop up. Others volunteer to help out on special projects. Then there are the Directors. They are volunteers. There is no money but they are rewarded with having a good neighborhood. If there is anything else involved; I have not seen it. You have programs like the self-reliant Sharks, Monuments, Security and Trash Collection, which has to get done. Price is important. No one pays more for less. Your 7 Directors are demanding; simply because our time is important to us. Just as this neighborhood is a key to our motivations to work at being the best Director we can be. What we need is your input, your assistance and your courage to step up with us. It would be rewarding in self-learning. Good decisions are not intended to be an expense but a saving. Get your neighbor’s proxy and come on in May. Ask the questions and decide with your vote; which person will be on your Board. If you missed this year, don’t stop trying. Get experience, get more proxies and come back again. Be expected to state why you should be the one in the Director’s chair. The Director’s commitment is two years at a time. It goes by quickly. Thank you for choosing to grow with us. Forgive us if we make an error. Our agenda should be very similar to yours. We seek a good neighbor. I hope you find us hard at work with this principle.
