The name kreon originated from “crayon” – the French word for pencil, the only thing you need for the start: a pencil mark.

Since its inception, we have been passionate about making architecture excel and to amplify it. We reduce lighting solutions to the minimum, the strictly necessary. That is our quest for light and dark. In this way we want to bring the beauty of the architectural design to the surface. With the addition or omission of light. Depending on the atmosphere, the material, the overall picture.

And always according to our basic principles: “unity in design, simplicity in techniques and precision in the details”. Staying true to our values and quality, we evolve with it. Our curiosity to keep developing drives us. Our luminaires are timeless and sensitive to trends at the same time. We create solutions for minimalism but also for architecture full of emotion. We have decorative products in our collection and sober items.

In this second kreonicle, we dive into the world of kreon and let you discover the newest developments, the finest projects and latest updates.

Residential

Near lake Léman, in a residential area of Geneva, this late 70’s villa blossoms back to life thanks to the mesmerizing vision the owners had in mind. This young Iranian couple renovated the residence to reflect their style and needs and meet up with the contemporary requirements. The concept builds around the colour palette of the Calacatta marble. Its distinctive golden veins serve as a guideline throughout the building and returns scattered in the details of this residence; from the bespoke louvres of the luminaires to the light switches. kreon minimalistic luminaires, emphasizing the natural brightness of the marble, provide a remarkable boost to the rebirth of this villa from the 70’s.

In 2014, kreon esprit was released into the world. A range of three different luminaires with minimalistic, tubular lampheads mounted on a slim rod. One, free-standing with a square foot; the second, a vertical ceiling-mounted fixture and the latest, a horizontal pending luminaire with up to four luminaire heads.

On the eve of kreon esprit’s 10th anniversary, two new additions to the product range see the light of day: a redesigned free-standing version and a brandnew desk light. Each of these newly developed luminaires feature the same signature slim-lined rotatable lamp heads of the original design. Available in standard black and white finishes, plus newly released eye-catching metallic versions in gold, bronze or nickel-plated.

ARCHITECTURE

Outdoor lighting: do’s and don’ts

The art of building is not merely a collection of concrete and brick structures. It consists of an architectural design set in its unique environment.

Environment and architecture cannot be seen as two different entities, they form a whole, in close interaction with one another.

Therefore, lighting is not merely a matter of indoor settings. The moment the building is shrouded in the darkness of night, outdoor lighting connects the life indoors with the outside world.

kreon luminaires for outdoor use constitute the same detail that can reflect and integrate in architecture within its purest form, as its indoor counterparts. They enhance and add value to their environment. Both indoor and outdoor.

14 character serie
kreonicle 15

It is often said that interior lighting can make or break a room. This principle applies to outdoor lighting as well. In addition to your house itself, its environment is equally important and needs full attention when it comes to lighting selection. In order to choose the perfect outdoor lighting, it is strongly advised to make an appeal to a lighting expert. He or she can determine which type of light should be used to experience and enjoy its full capacity. If you prefer to start by yourself, you should read and take the following do’s and don’ts into account in order to achieve the perfect result.

Everything starts with your house

Your house is the center piece of your property. By using the appropriate lighting, it will enforce its visibility in the dark. In addition, it will contribute to the security of your property. During the set-up, it is crucial to ensure the walls as well as the architectural elements of your house are sufficiently illuminated.

Use of shadow

Outdoor lighting doesn’t only concern what can be illuminated, but puts focus on the interplay of light and shadow

together. For example: by using lights at the base to shine up a stone wall, the texture of the material will be accentuated to create a certain level of depth.

Work with layers

Depth and light texture are created by using different layers of light. Imagine you have a beautiful object in your garden that you would like to illuminate. While setting up the lighting from different angles, the object will be the eye-catcher of your garden, instead of the lighting itself. This creates a unique effect that won’t interfere with the visual strength of the object. Furthermore, you can add visual depth to the outdoor area by correctly positioning your outdoor lighting. We often see that only the façade or terrace is illuminated and is creating a large black depth from the inside. You can easily resolve this side effect by illuminating a few trees/objects in the perimeter of your house. By doing this you will increase the outdoor space and the feeling of safety around your house.

Choose quality

It may seem commonplace, but it’s better to choose high-quality material. In the long run, this will be more beneficial than opting for cheaper alternatives

that will decay faster over time. Moreover, qualitative lighting is often more economical due to the choice of materials and type of luminaires that are used.

Play with lines

Try to avoid the placement of lighting fixtures in a single straight line, along a pathway for example. It gives the unpleasant feeling of walking on a driveway or an airplane runway. Get creative and play with the aesthetics to create a unique lighting experience.

Don’t forget details

Generally, there is a strong focus on large aspects for outdoor lighting, such as trees and sculptures. Details are often forgotten while they can bring in a decisive effect. Therefore, look for small areas that can be accentuated with the right lighting. This will benefit the consistency of the bigger picture.

Limit your choices

As mentioned earlier, everything starts with your house itself. It is crucial to maintain the same lighting style and to avoid a disorganized range of lights. Don’t forget to look at the location of the fixtures as well and choose a matching model. This way you avoid a disorderly excess of all kinds of models.

Avoid solar lights

Individual lighting fixtures that use solar power are often not as effective as one might think. This type of lighting is weatherdependent and often doesn’t have a large storage capacity for a solid light intensity. Solar lights are rather suitable as decorative lighting. Therefore, choose a lighting system that gives the outdoor lighting the right power so that you do not have to worry about poorly performing luminaires.

Hospitality

After several months of intensive renovation and expansion work, the De Slagmolen restaurant in Oudsbergen reopened its doors in spring 2022. The renewed restaurant of Michelin’s twostar chef Bert Meewis and his wife Karlijn Libbrecht has since earned accolades - and for much more than the exceptional cooking skills of chefs Bert and Giel Meewis. The unique setting and completely renovated interior, closely set within beautiful natural surroundings, further contribute to a sublime culinary and total experience.

The search for an eye-catcher turned out to be a real challenge. It had to be something that not only provides the right lighting, but also creates atmosphere and ambiance.

In the end, the new alabaster lighting fixtures proved to be the answer.

Interview with Bert Meeuwis of Restaurant Slagmolen

For their renewed restaurant, they chose kreon tools of light. We gathered around the table with chef Bert Meewis, interior designer Stefanie Coninx from Peer and kreon lighting consultants Carol Pareit and Daan Van den Branden to review the construction process, the creative interpretation, as well as the selection of the appropriate lighting.

Bert Meeuwis: “When we decided a few years ago that we wanted to expand, we quickly found the right partners. We had already worked with interior designer Stefanie Coninx in the past. She knows our tastes and needs very little input from us before she gets started. kreon was no stranger to us either. You can find kreon lighting in our ballroom as well as in our guesthouse.”

Stefanie Coninx: “Indeed, our collaboration went smoothly once again, thanks to the mutual trust and open communication between us. Starting a dialogue, sparring

with each other and maintaining continuous communication. Bert and Karlijn had a clear idea about the feeling that they wanted to convey to their guests and we were therefore able to collaboratively shape the new volume together.”

Bert Meeuwis: “Typically, during construction, there is little respect for deadlines as well as budgets, but this was not an option for us. We had to reopen in March, since we had already received a large number of reservations. We really didn’t want to cancel those. In the intervening period, we had been cooking at two locations: lunch

on the premises of Essers’ and back here in the evenings. We had our hands full in any case, and to add to that, there was site planning, among other things. I don’t miss it though (laughs).”

Stefanie Coninx: “That’s correct, the delivery had to be made within a very clear deadline. Deviating from it was not an option. Furthermore, there was already a shortage of materials as well as a large number of delivery problems throughout the building sector during this period. Thanks to a proactive approach and an early start, we were able to fully meet

kreonicle 25

Carol Pareit

the deadline. Bert and Karlijn preferred local partners such as Jansen Group for the interior finishing and kreon for the lighting. We had a meeting with everyone well in time and worked out the appropriate arrangements. The schedules were constantly adjusted along the way and the deadline was met perfectly.”

Daan Van den Branden: “We usually first conduct a lighting study to calculate the amount of light that should be in the room. We then make a proposal based on this lighting plan and briefings from the client and the architect. This is where we usually make some adjustments and make some changes along the way. In this case however, there was little need for that with regard to functional lighting.”

Stefanie Coninx: “True, the functional lighting throughout the building was spot on right from the start. That happens when you perfectly understand each other.

As regards the eye-catcher in the restaurant, we had to search much harder to find the perfect match.”

Bert Meeuwis: “We wanted to make a statement. It’s not just lighting – the atmosphere and ambience you create is

also important. Even when the lighting is not on. We considered many different options here: from the idea of having an artwork hung by an artist, to floating bronze leaves all round. We were not totally convinced by any of these.”

Daan Van den Branden: “The requirements in terms of lighting were very clear. It had to stand out, people should take notice of it and the total concept should be unique and meaningful. At the same time, the right lighting is extremely important in a restaurant: no shadows, the food must not appear discoloured, etc. The culinary aspect remains the essence. The lighting should be in function of the dishes and the guests.”

Bert Meeuwis: “We also didn’t want to be tied to a fixed table layout. So direct lighting above a table was out of the question. We want to be flexible and be able to move tables around, to change our set-up.”

Carol Pareit: “We knew we had to come up with a unique concept here. Internally, we had already racked our brains about how best to approach this, when we actually had a stroke of genius while at the coffee machine (laughs). We had already made several designs but none of them had felt right so far. We had recently

introduced a new productlighting fixtures using alabaster. The alabaster, combined with a bronze colour to give it a more decorative look, was a real hit.

Bert Meeuwis: “When Carol came up with the proposal of alabaster pendants, we immediately fell in love with the idea. We were overwhelmed by a feeling that we had found exactly what we were looking for. Even the colour samples seemed a perfect fit, considering we were looking for something with bronze colours.”

Carol Pareit: “After that it all happened very quickly. In a few days, we worked out the entire design and fine-tuned it to the last detail. Together with Stefanie, we decided to introduce a wave motion theme in the whole. The whole design was tailor-made: apart from the technical integration of the suspension and integration into an acoustic sloping ceiling, each fixture has a certain length with adapted transparent cable. The modules had to ‘float’ in space, so to speak, mimicking the effect of fireflies in nature. “

Daan Van den Branden:

“The sloping ceiling with a minimum installation depth required a different approach to the suspension. For this, we developed a plaster kit with

an oval-shaped slot that tilts in the direction of the fixture. This allowed us to guarantee a handsome result regardless of the various angles of inclination. A total of 96 lighting elements are suspended, each with its own positioning and length. It was no easy task to suspend these. Each point was marked off on the floor with a laser and numbered from 1 to 96. The same numbering was placed on the spotlights.”

Bert Meeuwis: “That was indeed quite a job to suspend them. Each pendant is also considerably heavy. All 96 pieces had separate reinforcement, to prevent the acoustic ceiling from cracking.

It took three days to suspend them. The people from kreon were there to help. We hadn’t requested them to, but we were obviously grateful for their help.”

Carol Pareit: “We are committed to every project and we are absolutely determined to ensure its success. We therefore viewed the result with particular pride. We regularly get customers who come over to our showroom and refer to the lighting they saw here.”

Bert Meeuwis: “We also get a lot of positive feedback from our guests. That’s great to hear. We can already look back on a successful project and positive cooperation. If we were to start

again, we would unhesitatingly choose kreon again. But for the time being, we have no construction plans. I would any day prefer the pressure in the kitchen during service hours, to the pressures of a construction site!”

kreonicle 27

kreon oran’s design is based on the mathematical and architectural principle of the golden ratio, also known as the plastic constant. The basic shapes that can be derived from the proportions of the number are the building blocks of this line of lighting fixtures. Designing from these balanced proportions and principles means working with spatial components. For kreon, oran claims space and actively demands to be a part of it. The spaciousness of the product is reflected in the proportions, but also in the dimensions and materialization.

Interview with Belgian architect Dennis T’Jampens: Fine Fleur in Antwerp

What part does lighting play in this whole concept? And how do you choose the suitable lighting? How does a lighting plan come together? How do you choose the right light fixtures and how can lighting take the interior design to a higher level?

We brought interior architect Dennis T’Jampens and kreon lighting consultants Carol Pareit and Daan van den Branden together.

kreonicle 31

It’s an exciting balance to merge your

Daan van den Brande

Fine Fleur is the brand-new restaurant of the renowned chefs Thomas Diepersloot and Jacob-Jan Boerma in the heart of Antwerp. A restaurant with a soul, which you can taste, feel and even see.

From the moment you enter the refined restaurant, you experience a subtle combination of a sleek and modern interior that also radiates warmth and cosiness.

Dennis T’Jampens: “Fine Fleur is unique to me as it was the first time I took on the design of a restaurant. My previous experiences were mostly residential properties. But it turns out that the concept, the ideas and even the materials do not differ much from a house. Here you also want to be comfortable and have a relaxed time.”

Initially I visited the property with the client. The authentic architecture of the whole location immediately attracted me. The clients’ expectations were clear: an “Instagrammable” toilet and integrate the kitchen into the overall space. Straight away I had a crystal-clear concept in mind. Next, I start to draw and let the design flow out. I think you have to be

born with this type of creativity. Where do I get my inspiration? Through every aspect of my life. I love beautiful things: art, people, clothing, restaurants, you name it.”

Naturally, comparing to a house there are many distinct factors involved. Techniques, the kitchen, … I did seek advice and the same goes for the lighting. I have been working with kreon for more than 15 years. I cannot recall a single project where this was not the case. I could draw up a lighting plan myself but the beauty of kreon is their unique input. Every time they present an idea which makes me think ‘Cool, I wouldn’t have come up with that idea myself’. That is, in addition to the quality of their products, an exceptional asset.”

Carol Pareit: “We usually start off with an extensive briefing from the client or architect. Together, we look at the plans and try to interpret the desired result. In most cases, they already have rendering available or an extensive photo reportage of the building. We also find it very important to get the architect’s personal vision. That is valuable information to us.

Daan van den Brande: “Carol is exceptionally good in capturing an atmosphere and a feeling. She hands me all the information I need. I prefer to let the complete concept sink in first and then I start with the conception of a lighting plan. And of course, it’s an exciting balance to merge your own taste, the vision of kreon, the taste of the architect and the uniqueness of the building into one lighting plan. But that’s what makes it so fascinating!”

Light to highlight the desired atmosphere that they wanted to create. The atmosphere is key, whether it is a residential property, an office or hospitality establishment; such as a restaurant. I also look at the lack of light. Lighting advice is even advising to provide no light in selected areas. That creates a certain atmosphere. It is our task to look from a light technical perspective as people are often too visually oriented.

Carol Pareit: “When the first version of a lighting design is finished, we present it to the client as adjustments can still be made at this stage. They can also count on our advisory role as our experience enables us to see clearly whether the overall concept is in balance.”

own taste, the vision of kreon, the taste of the architect and the uniqueness of the building into one lighting plan.”
32 interview

Daan van den Branden: “The original design of Fine Fleur had more light elements than the final design shows. There are also certain interior design choices made that influenced the lighting. That is when we modify the design. The lighting plan is always custom-made but, in this case, even the fixtures were custom-made. We chose to extend the use of esprits in function of the space. Even the colour is tailor-made. The pendants have a dark bronze colour. In this situation black would have been too harsh and too present in the space. We try to design together to make sure the total concept ends up being on point”

Carol Pareit: “You really get to know the architect you work with. It is a great advantage that we have been collaborating with Dennis for many years already. One message on my voicemail and I nearly have all the information I need. (laughs) We can also refer to previous projects. ‘Shall we do this in line of project X and do that like project Y’. We grow together. We have seen Dennis evolve in his professional career. It is up to us to evolve alongside him and continue to offer the right solutions.”

BRAND

vektron: kreon’s leading ceiling systems

Beauty is not created by adding details, but rather by eliminating them. Lighting manufacturer kreon has known this for years. You notice this not only in its sleek range of architectural lighting but also in its metal ceiling solutions. And because these ceiling elements increasingly integrate climate control, ventilation, acoustic insulation and audio technologies in addition to their lighting luminaire function, kreon’s pillar for ceiling systems now gets a brand name of its own and it’s called vektron. This in turn makes kreon a pure lighting brand once again.

34 character serie
kreonicle 35

Extensive customisation

The ceiling systems henceforth called vektron accounted for around 25% of kreon’s total sales in 2021. And as an independent brand, vektron will also position itself more as a provider of bespoke solutions for every project. After all, vektron’s project management process is designed to guide architects and engineers through concept, planning and execution faster and flawlessly. At every stage of the project, vektron is the sole interlocutor for all parties involved. You can count on our full support from the initial design and specifications, during planning and coordination, and of course also during the execution of the construction works. Our consultants know the ins and outs of all markets. They have already been involved in the construction of stadiums, airports, healthcare projects and, of course, offices, among others.

When it comes to the dimensions of the metal ceiling tiles, we also deliver customised work. The days of a ceiling tile measuring 60 cm by 60 or 120 cm are well and truly over with vektron. Moreover, the solutions of vektron put an end

character serie

to white lighting fixtures that turn out to be made of a slightly different shade of white than the ventilation grid, air conditioning or built-in speakers. With vektron, colour and finish fit together harmoniously and seamlessly.

Ceiling islands

The possibility of far-reaching customisation does not mean, however, that vektron does not offer standardised - yet flexible - ceiling systems. For example, the all-new vektron ceiling rafts incorporate both lighting (with built-in aplis 60 downlights) and acoustic insulation. After all, suspended ceilings affect the sound performance of a room and must therefore optimally meet the user’s comfort requirements. Our vektron ceiling rafts integrate sound absorption up to a factor of 0.9 while guaranteeing sound attenuation of up to 47 decibels and are fitted with an acoustic fleece as standard. Furthermore, they offer an optimal and uniform light level of 500lx on average at working surface height, while the glare factor is very low (UGR<9).

Architectural freedom

Did it ever occur to you that architects, engineers, and other building professionals have more creative control over ceilings than walls and floors? After all, the final appearance of the latter two is heavily influenced by the user’s décor and furniture, while ceilings are usually left untouched. This means that when it comes to ceiling design, you are more likely to be given free rein, and this is from both an aesthetic and functional point of view.

In everyday life, we may not pay much attention to ceilings. But with vektron, you can bring these inconspicuous surfaces to life. Texture, relief, and symmetrical shadow joints support the architectural rhythm of the room while creating calm and order.

As you can see, vektron ceiling systems combine various comfort solutions with highperformance lighting solutions, giving fuller meaning to architectural lighting.

38 interview

Interview with kreon CEO: Werner van Rethy

Werner Van Rethy studied to be an engineer and economist, and began his career at kreon in the early 2000s. He became CEO in 2015.

He is familiar with kreon’s past and has a clear vision of the future. We tracked him down to talk about the revolution in ceiling solutions, the opportunities offered by technological developments and about new product launches.

kreonicle 39

kreon is primarily known for its architectural lighting solutions, but kreon is also a manufacturer of ‘smart’ ceilings, why this expansion?

Werner Van Rethy: “kreon was founded in the 1980s on the belief that lighting is a creative extension of architecture. That is still part of our DNA. In the early 2000s, we took our ceiling solutions a step further. For a project in Singapore, we collaborated with a manufacturer of metal ceiling systems. We were always faced with the challenge of integrating our lighting into the ceilings. The idea then came to look at the situation as a whole and develop our own ceiling around the lighting.

In addition to increasing quality and uniformity, it means there is a single point of contact on site for everything concerning the ceiling, instead of lots of different partners. It’s our way of unburdening builders, architects and engineering firms even more. It began with a ceiling with lighting, then we added ventilation and more and more technology.”

This concept proved to have international appeal, so can we assume it was caught on?

Werner Van Rethy: “I am convinced that there will always be a market for quality and the concept of integrated solutions.

Thanks to our integrated ceiling concept, architects can really get creative with the ceiling. And it is much more efficient to discuss this with one partner, rather than multiple parties. This was all achieved under the brand name vektron. In 2009, we changed the name from vektron to kreon ceiling solutions to appeal to international customers as well. kreon ceiling solutions made it easier and less ambiguous.”

Now, more than 10 years later, you’re changing the name again.

Werner Van Rethy: “Indeed, kreon ceiling solutions, in our opinion, no longer reflected our current offer. So, in late 2022, we changed it again and opted for vektron comfort ceilings. After all, it’s comfort we provide to the end user, whether through lighting, ventilation, or acoustic comfort, not forgetting our climate ceilings.”

What are the ambitions for vektron comfort ceilings?

Werner Van Rethy: “We never stop innovating. We continue to expand our capabilities. This year, we are launching a new ceiling concept called ‘ili’. It allows us to provide a solution in buildings with concrete core activation, in addition to our climate ceilings. This ceiling improves energy

efficiency thanks to the open blade structure. That’s vitally important to us. Just as we have learned in recent years, due to the tightness in the construction industry and the challenges with supplies and delivery times, that speed of delivery is essential. That’s the reason for our ceiling rafts, a standard package we offer on the market, in modular form. Fast delivery and easy installation. Previously, our ceilings were always projectbased. Now we are turning them into a product.”

How do new products and ideas for ceilings come about?

Werner Van Rethy: “It depends on several factors. In the first instance, creativity is ingrained in our kreon DNA, which is invariably based on the architectural character. We want to continue to ensure that our ceilings remain a creative extension of the architecture. Secondly, we constantly listen to the needs of the market. We evolve alongside it. Consider, for example, the shift towards energy neutrality and the increasing importance of comfort. In the past, the preference was to have as many people as possible in the smallest possible space, because it was cost-effective. The focus on well-being in the workplace ensures that a total package like the one we offer is in high demand. And finally,

We never stop innovating.
We continue to expand our capabilities.”
40 interview
Werner Van Rethy

technological developments play a role too. For us, adding a digital layer to our ceilings is self-evident. It enables extensive automation. That wasn’t technically possible before.”

As a company, how do you deal with new technology such as artificial intelligence and 3D printing?

Werner Van Rethy: “We embrace technological evolutions. The (r)evolution from conventional lighting to LED lighting had a huge impact on the lighting industry. This technology gave lighting a digital character. The addition of sensors, Bluetooth, beacons and so on, make lighting and, by extension, our ceilings, capable of so much more. Our ceiling system provides an aesthetic value in the room as well as

being a total comfort solution: lighting, ventilation, climate ceilings, acoustics. Adding a digital layer to this provides an extra dimension in terms of user experience and energy management. Developing AI technologies is not our core business, but applying them is. It allows us to evolve from a product provider into a solution provider. We are closely monitoring the possibilities offered by 3D printing. If not to speed up the development process, to achieve customisation.”

You are known for your rather timeless designs. Can you combine this with such futuristic features?

Werner Van Rethy: “It’s actually quite simple. The most sustainable aspect of

our designs is precisely their timeless character. It means our products are designed to last more than 20 years. We can easily adapt these sustainable products to new technologies, which once again extends their lifespan. The timeless character of our products and services is an asset, which is why we embrace technological evolutions to make them futureproof, which has suddenly become the epitome of sustainability.”

The architecture of this villa is motivated by the liberation of space and the keen awareness of the essence of the materials used. A precise and deliberate choice of raw materials for the intrinsic beauty that they represent. These materials respond to each other in a no-frills interior that draws its strength and beauty from clear lines, robust materials and functional organisation. Comfort and conviviality are found in this decor where lightness and solidity balance each other

The choice for vektron ceilings echoed the desire for raw materials. A sheet of metal that appears simple but which allows you to combine an acoustic response with a fine lighting of the premises. Set back from the glazing, they give even more lightness and strength to the underlying concrete.

The quality, finish, sobriety and minimalism of kreon products combine seamlessly with the clean lines that characterize the architecture of the Luc Spits office.

CEILING SYSTEMS Ceiling rafts

Today’s office spaces must be designed to meet the requirements of widespread part-time telecommuting and circular building. Office layouts may have to be reconsidered and workstations may need to make space for meeting rooms, shared spaces, conversation hubs and collaborative spaces of all sizes. With flexible vektron ceiling rafts you have the freedom to install them where you need and change their locations when necessary.

Are light and acoustic features still in the right place when modifying the layout? Do we have the right comfort equipment in the right location? vektron ceiling rafts are standardized solutions that fit many different environments, are easy to design, fast to produce and simple to assemble and install.

Thanks to this flexible approach our suspended ceilings can evolve alongside the changing destination of an office building and can be re-used when your company outgrows its current locations and is ready to move to new headquarters.

Ready-made vektron ceiling rafts are ready-made and easy to install suspended ceilings for office use. They come in two different sizes, three different

layouts each, two available colours and can be equipped with luminaires. Each raft is composed of vektron clip-in tiles made from cold rolled galvanised steel. Each tile is perforated and available in either white or black epoxy polyester powder coating. Black and white colour tiles are the most common yet functional finishes for any environment, finished with low gloss levels that enhance the overall visual effect and add elegance to the whole. Made-to-measure finishes are available on request. Contact your local vektron consultant to discuss the possibilities.

Acoustic

Every vektron ceiling raft is provided with soundtex acoustic fleece and mineral wool. In combination with a

full perforation the absorption level increases and provides perfect absorption, combining optimal auditive comfort with the flexibility of a freehanging vektron ceiling raft.

Lighting

High quality luminaires can be equipped into the vektron ceiling rafts to illuminate office spaces and to yield optimal work environments. vektron ceiling rafts are available with four to six high efficient kreon aplis 60 downlights with flood reflector. These luminaires simply need to be clipped on the ceiling tile on site and ensure a minimum lux level of 500lx (measured at table height) with a UGR of <19.

kreon holon is a range of surface mounted, track mounted and pendant cylindrical downlights characterised by its compact form and deep set LED position, providing a subtle feeling of light without a possible uncomfortable visual perception. The range now becomes available with a diameter of 60mm, filling the gap between the already existing kreon holon dimensions. With a choice of fixed or directional units, ceiling or track mounted, kreon holon can provide a discreet yet functional solution to general or accent lighting within architecture. Finished in black or pure white.

kreon prologe has been part of the kreon product range for decades. It originally found its way onto the market as a surface mounted downlight and is the rectangular counterpart of kreon holon. The latter further developed into our beloved directional spotlight: kreon holon 40 directional. With the launch of kreon prologe 40 directional, kreon prologe becomes available for those with a love for square shapes and straight corners, and also require the flexibility of its cylindrical twin: kreon holon 40 directional.

kreon down in-line 60 downlights

Revisited wall washer optic

In 2021, the 60 downlight series was released. The range included a round shaped series with or without trim, and a square variant with trim. Today, the product family is completed with the release of a trimless square version.

Like the other luminaires in the 60 series, kreon down in-line 60 is a range of recessed downlights with an aperture of 60mm.

Equipped with the latest high performance faceted reflector in a fixed downlight or wallwash luminaire they offer optimal efficiency and uniformity.

High lumen output can be generated out of a discreet aperture. The light emission in the primary beam of the downlight is precise and sharp without any diffusion.

The wallwash optics in the downlight 60, downlight 80 high efficiency and holon 60 on-track will receive a significant change. The ‘non-reflective’ surfaces of the wallwash optic are now painted white or black depending on the colour of the luminaire. Whereas previously these ‘non-reflective’ surfaces always had an aluminium finish. This change ensures that the optic is even more discreetly integrated into the fixture.

In practice, a white downlight 60 wallwasher will therefore be delivered with a white finished wallwash optic. Similarly, this applies to black versions having a black finished wallwash optic.

kreon kagi pendant

kreon kagi is an innovative profile system combining linear and accent lighting. The basic 24V profile, initially available as a recessed or surface mounted profile, can now be installed as a pendant profile luminaire.

Just like the ceiling mounted versions, the pendants can optionally be equipped with 16 mm or 26 mm diameter satinated continuous light tubes for a sustained soft light distribution. A junction allows a perpendicular, 90° tilted second level connection of the 24V profile. Round or square shaped spotlights and wallwashers can be added just by clamping them on the main profiles making kreon kagi an essential lighting tool that can be used as a graphic play of light or guide light.

kreon kagi gearbox

The kreon kagi product family expands with kreon kagi gearbox. This gearbox is an extension to the kreon kagi range and allows you to make a 230V surface mounted connection. kreon kagi gearbox can either be wall or ceiling mounted, horizontal or vertical. It can be combined with all different kreon kagi profiles. The multiple mounting options allow you to create endless compositions.

The gearboxes are available as standard in black and white and in different wattages, which makes it possible to connect multiple profiles with 1 gearbox.

kreon holon 40 gearbox

The latest addition to the kreon holon 40 family is a surface mounted luminaire with one or two spot lights and integrated gear. Like all kreon holon 40 luminaires, the lamp heads can be rotated 360° and tilted up to 90°, and come with multiple reflector options. Among the available dimming options are Casambi, DALI dimming and phase dimming.

Similar to the kreon kagi gearbox, kreon holon 40 gearbox allows you to make a 230V surface mounted connection. This means the product can be perfectly integrated into any project, whether it’s a new construction or a renovation project.
