While Boston's many sidewalks and brick-laden streets are probably not the target terrain for Brooks' enviro-fancy Cascadia 3 trail shoe, these neon beauts are perfect for any green-conscious runner trying to avoid on- and off-roading injuries. What makes the Cascadia 3 the leader of the enviro-shoe pack is its lack of artificial materials. Brooks boasts that the Cascadia is "100-percent pure," and it's oh-sopretty in its bright green (for the ladies) and bright magma (for the gents) mesh design. But just because nature nurtured them, doesn't mean they lack in pavement performance. The Cascadia 3 has a Pivot Posting system to help prevent twisted ankles when stepping on those unexpected cracks in concrete. And a "Ballistic" textile between outsole and midsole provides rock-shield technology that shelters runners from wayward debris flying from construction sites. Also good for those wild winters, the Cascadia 3 has wet-dry traction in its nifty, cleat-like, dispersed-silica outsole—made with high-performance green rubber, versus PVC—and the breathable shoe mesh is no friend to H20, flushing out Mother Nature's tears, leaving you dry and profilin'.
