Lopez also set the Trail Blazers individual record for offensive rebounds in a season (326) and became the first NBA player to amass 300-plus offensive rebounds and 130plus blocks in a single season since Dwight Howard in 2010-11. Lopez also recorded a career-high 29 double-doubles, 20 more than his previous high of nine in (2011-12, 2012-13). WRITTEN IN STONE: Trail Blazers Head Coach Terry Stotts produced just two different starting lineups throughout the 2013-14 regular season, the lowest total in the league. Only six other teams had less than 10 different starting lineups, while 12 teams ended the season with 20 or more. DIVISION DOMINANCE: The Trail Blazers finished the 201314 capaign with a 13-3 record against their Northwest Division opponents. That record marks not only the best record in the five-team division, but also the best record vs. divisional opponents throughout the entire NBA. NO DRAFT HERE: The Portland Trail Blazers were one of five teams without a draft pick in the 2014 NBA Draft this summer. Only four players in NBA history have more points (3,257) and assists (988) in their first two seasons (O. Robertson, T. Archibald, A. Iverson, L. James). In 164 career games, Lillard has averaged 19.9 points and 6.0 assists in 37.2 minutes per game.
SURVIVE AND ADVANCE: In defeating the Houston Rockets in the first round of the NBA Playoffs last season, the Trail Blazers advanced to the second round of the postseason for the first time since the 1999-2000 season, when they reached the Western Conference Finals. Portland’s win over Houston snapped a string of six consecutive first-round playoff defeats dating back to the 2000-01 season. DOUBLE TROUBLE: LaMarcus Aldridge recorded a careerhigh 40 double-doubles last season, ranking seventh best in the NBA. Aldridge also became the first Trail Blazers player to reach the 40 double-double mark since the 2003-04 season when Zach Randolph notched 43 in 81 games played. In addition to his regular season production, Aldridge also had eight doubledoubles in the playoffs in 11 games against Houston and San Antonio. EXPERIENCE MATTERS: The Trail Blazers are a much more experienced team this year than in previous seasons. The current team’s experience level averages out to 4.27 years, which is over a full year more than the 2012-13 season (3.26 years). Last season, Portland’s level of experience averaged out to 3.86 years. The Trail Blazers roster features three players with doubledigit years of NBA experience (Blake: 11, Kaman: 11, Wright: 10). The defending NBA champion San Antonio Spurs featured an average experience level of 5.37 last season, while the last place Milwaukee Bucks (15-67) owned a 3.37 experience rating. WESLEY FOR THREE: En route to producing his best scoring output ( 16.4 ppg) in five NBA seasons, Wesley Matthews also recorded a stellar shooting season from behind the arc. Not only was his 201 three-pointers made in a season a career high, but he also finished fifth in the league. Matthews became the second player in NBA history to make at least 125 three-pointers in each of his first four seasons (Kevin Durant). HOME COOKIN’: Portland wrapped up the 2013-14 season with 54 wins, 31 of which came within the friendly confines of the Moda Center. The Trail Blazers’ 31-10 home record was the sixth best home record in the NBA, and the organization’s best since 2008-09 (34-7). BEASTING THE EAST: In 2013-14,Portland compiled a 23-7 record against the Eastern Conference, trailing just San Antonio (24-6) for most cross-conference wins. It also represented the Trail Blazers highest win-total against the east since before 2002. MODA CENTER MADNESS: The Trail Blazers finished the 201314 season ranked fifth in attendance with 809,612 fans piling into the Moda Center through 82 home games (19,746/game). This continued a common trend for the Rip City faithful, as Portland has finished top-10 in the league’s attendance ratings for seven consecutive seasons (2008-2014). This stretch includes two seasons (2011, 2012) in which the Trail Blazers finished as high as second in the league’s attendance.
