FUND RAISING STRATEGY
FUNDRAISING TARGETS
The Bendigo Symphony Orchestra (BSO) has an ambitious strategy to become a significant regional Symphony Orchestra in Australia.
Targets can be annual or longer term as a dollar amount to achieve a specific purpose.
To achieve this ambition a long-term sustainable fund raising strategy is required. This strategy has two parts - donations and sponsorships. It is important to distinguish between these two forms of fundraising. A donation is a voluntary contribution to the organisation for a cause. It may or may not be tax deductable. A sponsorship is paid to the organisation in return for a service. The service may range from a musical performance to recognition for being associated with the organisation. Fundraising will enable the orchestra to achieve a range of goals:
Sponsorships are likely to be annual and donations are to achieve a target to achieve a purpose. Targets are: Donations
$50,000 over 3 years
Sponsorships
$51,500 per year
DONATIONS Donations require a cause and a tax deductable donation needs to fit within guidelines. Causes which have been established for the orchestra include: •
Scholarships fund Leadership/professional development fund
•
Delivering concerts at an improved standard to a larger audience for a very reasonable ticket cost
• •
Music library fund
•
Building our instruments, music and equipment assets to play a wider range of music with a larger orchestra
•
Equipment and instruments fund
•
Performance fund
•
Building community awareness/participation fund
•
Improving the quality of playing through payment of honoraria to principal players
FUNDRAISING STRATEGY 2022
We have established a relationship with Ulumbarra Foundation which recognizes our two organisations’ shared goals and enables donations made to Ulumbarra Foundation to be directed to any of the above causes for the Bendigo Symphony Orchestra.
