Interview Fact Sheet What was your inspiration for this collection? We drew inspiration from a number of places. We drew inspiration from different decades, and genres. We also drew inspiration from nature which can seen in the colors of the garments. What is you favorite piece or item from the collection? My favorite look from the collection is an all-white outfit that consists of a full length feather skirt and a white short sleeve sweater with silver embellishments and an ornate beaded belt. I love the different textures of this outfit and there are so many elements to look at. But also each element does not overwhelm one another and they work well complementing each other. This outfit just gives a playful feel and a regal look at the same time.
Are you going to carry any of the inspiration/looks over into the spring collection? Yes we will most likely carry a few looks over into the spring. Something like the long maxi skirts and dresses are a perfect item for spring. Also the shorts and the jacket combo might pop up as well in a colorful pattern for the season. What was the main focus of this collection? Was it a silhouette, genre, etc…? We were focusing on vintage glam this season. We wanted to draw inspiration from a variety of different genres and update them all to look like a cohesive collection. We drew inspiration from the 1900’s in the high necklines on the dresses and the lace. There’s a blue glitter jacket with shoulder pads that is a nod to the 80’s and a full length jacket with an ornate gold pattern that could be pulled right from the 70’s. Our goal for this collection was to draw on the past but make all of the looks work together and we think we were able to achieve that uniformity. What color palette did you use this season and why? We used a lot of subdued and neutral colors this season. It really is a nod to the fall and the weather. We drew inspiration from the weather and the season. Fall is associated with being dark and dull, the colors outside are changing and we drew on that inspiration for this collection.
Fact Sheet Cont… What is the reasoning behind your choice in fabrics for this collection? Of course we wanted to use some classic cold weather fabrics like wools and cotton for knits and jackets. But we also wanted incorporate some lighter weight fabrics in to the mix as the colors are dark and we didn’t want the whole collection to feel heavy and weighed down. What is your favorite trend this season? One of our favorite trends this season is the long silhouettes. It helps to elongate the body and give a lean tall appearance that is flattering to all shapes. You seemed to step a little away from the extra girly looks this season, why is that? We just wanted to give our core consumer something a little different this season. We wanted to keep her guessing as to what we will do next. We added in some men’s wear inspired outfits and items. But she can still dissect these looks and incorporate them in with her fun frilly skirts and dresses and flounce tops for that girly look that she is accustomed to. What is the target age group you see wearing these pieces We don’t have a specific age group in mind for this collection. But we anticipate it will appeal to the woman who is fun loving and a little playful which can come at any age. How would you accessorize this collection? We would pair this collection with bright metallic jewelry to give a striking complement to the subdued color palette. Pair any item with a sky high heel to further emphasize the length we are trying to achieve with the silhouettes.
