Hello

Hello and congratulations on your engagement! Let me introduce myself. I’m Kristina, the sole owner of Kristina Lynn Photography & Design, which I founded in 2009. I have a huge passion for fashion and design. Vogue and Grace Ormonde Wedding Style magazines are scattered around my house and I’m addicted to HGTV and Project Runway. My specialty is weddings and engagements and I love everything about my job. From meeting with clients and talking about their big day, to capturing their love at the engagement session and at their wedding, to editing the final images and creating beautiful custom albums and keepsakes that they’ll cherish for years to come - I love it all! After working closely with my past brides, and planning my own wedding, I understand the excitement, nerves and even stress that goes into planning a wedding. I want my couples to think of me not just as a photographer, but as a friend and even as someone who can help make your wedding day a wonderful success. I love what I do and I hope it shows! I know you have a million things on your plate right now and would love to help you in any way I can. That’s why I have put together this magazine as a way to share some of my knowledge and hopefully help you navigate some of the decisions you have to make. Inside you’ll find information on why I love to photograph engagement sessions, tips for laying out your wedding day timeline and lots of other great pieces of advice. I can’t cover everything here, so definitely feel free to drop me an email to set up a time to meet over a warm white chocolate mocha or a glass of wine.

Hope to hear from you soon! Kristina Lynn Marshall www.kristinalynnweddings.com

Hiring a Wedding Planner You spend months or even years planning your wedding, making sure all the details are perfect from the venue to the flowers and even arranging the seating chart. You may not have even considered using a wedding planner but after all my experiences I can tell you one thing, when I get married I’ll be hiring a wedding planner! Even if you’re hands on, a great DIY-er and have a clear idea of what you want, you don’t want to be the one stressed especially on your wedding day. A planner can help you fill in all the holes, keep track of the details so that things don’t get missed, keep you on budget, and coordinate all the vendors so it’s off your shoulders. Obviously, you should be involved in your wedding and contrary to many beliefs, wedding planners don’t take that away from you! Rather they help with the organization and most importantly let you enjoy your wedding day knowing someone else is handling any issues that may arise. If you’re interested in talking with a planner about how they can help you, I’d be happy to provide you with a names of a few planners that I trust will take care of you!

The Engagement Session I believe your engagement is just as important to your marriage as the actual wedding day. This is the stage when you have decided this is your one true love, the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. It’s definitely worthwhile to document this part of your love story! I love engagement sessions because it gives me an opportunity to know you better before your wedding day. We get a chance to interact and build a relationship. When you think about it, you may see your photographer on your wedding day more than you will see your new spouse! Often times your photographer will be there from the time you’re getting ready until all the events of the night are complete. Having someone who you feel relaxed around and enjoy being there will on your big day will make your wedding images that much better! Not to mention, if you have a relationship with your photographer they will have a better knowledge of you and create images that capture your personalities. Personally, engagement sessions are my favorite! I love getting to know you. I like to make little jokes to make you laugh, allowing you to relax so I can capture the pure joy and love between you two. When your wedding day comes, I want to know you trust me and hopefully feel like I’m a friend that will be there to make sure you can enjoy your day and hold on to your sweet memories for a lifetime.

Tips and Advice • Hiring a professional hair and makeup artist for your day is a must! Plan your trials with them at least one month before your wedding day that way you can be confident that you will look the way you have envisioned or give you the time to make any changes needed. On the day of your makeup trial take advantage - Schedule your engagement session or a special date night afterwards! • On your wedding day, bring a copy of your full invitation and save the dates so they can be photographed with the rest of your paper suite such as programs and menus. These are great images for your album! • If possible, ask your florist to deliver your flowers to your getting ready location. That way they are ready to be photographed and included in your pre-ceremony photographs. • Don’t forget to eat while you’re getting ready! Either have food delivered or bring it with you so that you have the energy you’ll need for your busy and exciting day. • On your big day - relax! It’s easier said than done, but when you’re relaxed and happy, it makes for some gorgeous photographs. Don’t be afraid to laugh or show emotion. It’s your wedding day, emotion is good! • Be prepared for the unexpected! It’s a good idea to have a small emergency kit prepared with such things as clear nail polish, a sewing kit, stain treater, safety pins, bobby pins, and pain reliever. If your ceremony and/ or reception will be outside you may want to have sunscreen and bug spray as well. • Weddings can run late and often times it’s because getting ready takes longer than expected. Allow more time than you think necessary. If you have extra time, that just means there’s more time to create amazing photographs or enjoy the time with your guests. • Trust your photographer! Your photographer is there to help pose you so you look your absolute best in every image. They’ll make sure you’re in the best light and the best background for all your photographs.

First Look The First Look is an opportunity for you and your fiance to see each other prior to the ceremony. This moment can be just private between the two of you, or you can invite family and friends to be a part of it as well. Generally, you choose a location and the photographer sets up to capture both of you as you see each other for the first time. There are many benefits to doing a First Look. One of the biggest benefits includes the ability to choose an ideal location with beautiful lighting for more flattering images. By doing a First Look you’re able to take the majority of the photographs prior to the ceremony, which in turn means less time away from your guests during the cocktail hour. My favorite benefit of the First Look is that you can enjoy the moment of seeing each other for the first time, just the two of you, without any pressure. You can take the time to just have a private moment to enjoy each other and the emotion of the day. Ultimately, it’s your choice. I can’t emphasize enough that choosing whether to do a First Look or not is completely up to you and your fiance. Some vendors will try to push you into doing it one way or another based on their preference or timeline but it’s your wedding and you should see each other when it’s most special to you. If you choose the traditional way, photographers appreciate your willingness to set aside the time needed to capture the very important photographs during cocktail hour. I promise, you won’t regret spending a little extra time to preserve your memories and create beautiful images of you and your new spouse.

Choosing a Photographer Booking a wedding photographer is a really important decision that you shouldn’t take lightly. But with the multitude of photographers to choose from you might be feeling a little overwhelmed! First and foremost, I believe that you should book a wedding photographer who captures the types of images you love. In addition, I believe that the wedding photographer you choose should be someone whose company you enjoy. After all, you’re going to spend a lot of time with that person on your big day!
